Abstract:In this work, we have developed an FLRW type model of a universe which displays transition from deceleration in the past to the acceleration at the present. For this, we have considered field equations of $f(R,T)$ gravity and have taken $f(R,T) = R + 2 \lambda T$, $\lambda$ being an arbitrary constant. We have estimated the $\lambda$ parameter in such a way that the transition red shift is found similar in the deceleration parameter, pressure and the equation of state parameter $\omega$. The present value of Hubble parameter is estimated on the basis of the three types of observational data set: latest compilation of $46$ Hubble data set, SNe Ia $580$ data sets of distance modulus and $66$ Pantheon data set of apparent magnitude which comprised of 40 SN Ia binned and 26 high redshift data's in the range $0.014 \leq z \leq 2.26 $. These data are compared with theoretical results through the $ \chi^2 $ statistical test. Interestingly, the model satisfies all the three weak, strong and dominant energy conditions. The model fits well with observational findings. We have discussed some of the physical aspects of the model, in particular the age of the universe.
General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to construct a FLRW - type cosmological model within the framework of f(R,T) gravitational theory, which can exhibit the transition from decelerated expansion in the past to accelerated expansion at present. Specifically, by considering the f(R,T) gravitational field equations and assuming f(R,T) = R + 2λT (where λ is an arbitrary constant), the author explores how to achieve this transition on a cosmological scale. The main objectives of the paper include: 1. **Constructing the cosmological model**: Develop a cosmological model based on the FLRW metric that can describe the transition of the universe from decelerated expansion in the past to the current accelerated expansion. 2. **Parameter estimation**: Estimate the λ parameter so that the transition redshifts of the deceleration parameter, pressure, and equation - of - state parameter ω are the same. This helps to verify the consistency and reliability of the model. 3. **Energy conditions**: Evaluate and discuss the weak energy condition, strong energy condition, and dominant energy condition in the model, ensuring that these conditions are satisfied in the model, even in the presence of negative pressure at present. 4. **Comparison with observational data**: Use three types of observational data sets (the latest 46 Hubble data sets, the distance modulus data set of 580 Type Ia supernovae, and 66 Pantheon data sets) to estimate the current Hubble parameter H0, and compare these data with the theoretical results through the χ² statistical test. 5. **Cosmic age and transition time**: Calculate the current age of the universe and the time point when the universe entered the accelerated expansion phase. Through the above research, the paper aims to provide a theoretical model that can explain the current phenomenon of the accelerated expansion of the universe and verify the validity of this model through observational data.
