Abstract:In this article we investigate the rough paths structure of a process $X_t$ living in a fixed Wiener chaos. Specifically, we formulate various types of rough lifts of $X_t$ and study their properties. As application, we study the integrabilities of quantities related to rough differential equations driven by $X_t$.

Abstract:We consider a process $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ in a fixed Wiener chaos $\mathcal{H}_n$. We establish some non-degenerate properties and related results for $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$. As an application, we show that solution to SDE driven by $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ admits a density. Our approach relies on an interplay between Malliavin calculus and analysis on Wiener space.

Abstract:The theory of rough paths arose from a desire to establish continuity properties of ordinary differential equations involving terms of low regularity. While essentially an analytic theory, its main motivation and applications are in stochastic analysis, where it has given a new perspective on Itô calculus and a meaning to stochastic differential equations driven by irregular paths outside the setting of semi-martingales. In this survey, we present some of the main ideas that enter rough path theory. We discuss complementary notions of solutions for rough differential equations and the related notion of path signature, and give several applications and generalisations of the theory.

Abstract:In the article, the rough path theory is extended to cover paths from the exponential Besov-Orlicz space \[B^\alpha_{\Phi_\beta,q}\quad\mbox{ for }\quad \alpha\in (1/3,1/2],\,\quad \Phi_\beta(x) \sim \mathrm{e}^{x^\beta}-1\quad\mbox{with}\quad \beta\in (0,\infty), \quad\mbox{and}\quad q\in (0,\infty],\] and the extension is used to treat nonlinear differential equations driven by such paths. The exponential Besov-Orlicz-type spaces, rough paths, and controlled rough paths are defined and analyzed, a sewing lemma for such paths is given, and the existence and uniqueness of the solution to differential equations driven by these paths is proved. The results cover equations driven by paths of continuous local martingales with Lipschitz continuous quadratic variation (e.g.\ the Wiener process) or by paths of fractionally filtered Hermite processes in the $n$\textsuperscript{th} Wiener chaos with Hurst parameter $H\in (1/3,1/2]$ (e.g.\ the fractional Brownian motion).

Abstract:Similar to ordinary differential equations, rough paths and rough differential equations can be formulated in a Banach space setting. For $\alpha\in (1/3,1/2)$, we give criteria for when we can approximate Banach space-valued weakly geometric $\alpha$-rough paths by signatures of curves of bounded variation, given some tuning of the Hölder parameter. We show that these criteria are satisfied for weakly geometric rough paths on Hilbert spaces. As an application, we obtain Wong-Zakai type result for function space valued martingales using the notion of (unbounded) rough drivers.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of rough paths on embedded submanifolds and demonstrate that this class of rough paths is natural. On the way, we develop a notion of rough integration and an efficient and intrinsic theory of rough differential equations (RDEs) on manifolds. The theory of RDEs is then used to construct parallel translation along manifold‐valued rough paths. Finally, this framework is used to show that there is a one‐to‐one correspondence between rough paths on a d‐dimensional manifold and rough paths on d‐dimensional Euclidean space. This last result is a rough path analogue of Cartan's development map and its stochastic version which was developed by Eells and Elworthy and Malliavin.

Abstract:This article is devoted to the extension of the theory of rough paths in the context of Volterra equations with possibly singular kernels. We begin to describe a class of two parameter functions defined on the simplex called Volterra paths. These paths are used to construct a so-called Volterra-signature, analogously to the signature used in Lyon's theory of rough paths. We provide a detailed algebraic and analytic description of this object. Interestingly, the Volterra signature does not have a multiplicative property similar to the classical signature, and we introduce an integral product behaving like a convolution extending the classical tensor product. We show that this convolution product is well defined for a large class of Volterra paths, and we provide an analogue of the extension theorem from the theory of rough paths (which guarantees in particular the existence of a Volterra signature). Moreover the concept of convolution product is essential in the construction of Volterra controlled paths, which is the natural class of processes to be integrated with respect to the driving noise in our situation. This leads to a rough integral given as a functional of the Volterra signature and the Volterra controlled paths, combined through the convolution product. The rough integral is then used in the construction of solutions to Volterra equations driven by Hölder noises with singular kernels. An example concerning Brownian noises and a singular kernel is treated

Abstract:We consider a rough differential equation of the form $dY_t=\sum_i V_i(Y_t)d\boldsymbol{X}^i_t+V_0(Y_t)dt $, where $\boldsymbol{X}_t $ is a Markovian rough path. We demonstrate that if the vector fields $(V_i)_{0\leq i\leq d} $ satisfy Hörmander's bracket generating condition, then $Y_t$ admits a smooth density with a Gaussian type upper bound, given that the generator of $X_t$ satisfy certain non-degenerate conditions. The main new ingredient of this paper is the study of non-degenerate property of the Jacobian process of $X_t$.

Abstract:This paper develops an Itô-type fractional pathwise integration theory for fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameters $ H \in (\frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{2}] $, using the Lyons' rough path framework. This approach is designed to fill gaps in conventional stochastic calculus models that fail to account for temporal persistence prevalent in dynamic systems such as those found in economics, finance, and engineering. The pathwise-defined method not only meets the zero expectation criterion but also addresses the challenges of integrating non-semimartingale processes, which traditional Itô calculus cannot handle. We apply this theory to fractional Black-Scholes models and high-dimensional fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes, illustrating the advantages of this approach. Additionally, the paper discusses the generalization of Itô integrals to rough differential equations (RDE) driven by fBM, emphasizing the necessity of integrand-specific adaptations in the Itô rough path lift for stochastic modeling.

Abstract:Abstract. In this paper we show, by using dyadic approximations, the existence of a geometric rough path associated with a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 1/4. Using the integral representation of fractional Brownian motions, we furthermore obtain a Skohorod integral representation of the geometric rough path we constructed. By the results in [Ly1], a stochastic integration theory may be established for fractional Brownian motions, and strong solutions and a Wong-Zakai type limit theorem for stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions can be deduced accordingly. The method can actually be applied to a larger class of Gaussian processes with covariance functions satisfying a simple decay condition.

Abstract:We prove a large deviation principle for the slow-fast rough differential equations under the controlled rough path framework. The driver rough paths are lifted from the mixed fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in (1/3,1/2)$. Our approach is based on the continuity of the solution mapping and the variational framework for mixed fractional Brownian motion. By utilizing the variational representation, our problem is transformed into a qualitative property of the controlled system. In particular, the fast rough differential equation coincides with Itô SDE almost surely, which possesses a unique invariant probability measure with frozen slow component. We then demonstrate the weak convergence of the controlled slow component by averaging with respect to the invariant measure of the fast equation and exploiting the continuity of the solution mapping.

Abstract:This article revisits a three-dimensional Lorenz-like system x˙=a(y−x), y˙=bx−lxz, z˙=−cz+hx2+ky2 presented in Liu et al. (2006), where only the parameter values (a, b, l, c, h, k)=(10, 40, 1, 2.5, 2, 2) and the initial value (x0, y0, z0)=(2.2, 2.4, 28) are considered. One here not only finds that this system possesses new chaotic route: from stability directly to chaos, but also mathematically obtains some of its other wonderful dynamics, for example, its local dynamics including the stability and Hopf bifurcation of its isolated equilibria and the behavior of its non-isolated equilibria, its global dynamics including singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycle, homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits, and its dynamics at infinity, etc. Numerical simulations also display the new route of chaotic behavior.

Abstract:Dynamical systems are one of the interesting concepts where iteration algorithms and chaos can be considered together. In iteration algorithms, one of the basic concepts of fixed point theory, it is well known that the behavior of the iteration mechanism is chaotic if the original transformation is taken as chaotic. One of the natural ways to transform a chaotic system into a dynamical system is through control mechanisms. In this paper, we first consider an iteration class defined on Banach spaces, which is prominent in the literature in terms of both speed and convergence rate. Then, we consider the transformation constituting the iteration class as chaotic and obtain the stability and unstability behaviors of the iterations according to the operator norm by using Gâteaux and Fréchet derivatives representing the direction‐dependent derivative. In this way, we aimed to obtain the chaos control intervals obtained with functions in real space with the help of operators in Banach spaces. Using the operator norm obtained with the Fréchet derivative, we derive interesting dynamical system intervals from a chaotic system with parameter variables of iteration algorithms. It is noteworthy that the parameter variables of the studied iteration classes are the same in some transformation classes. In addition, analytical proofs are followed by computer simulations of parameter‐dependent control intervals considering the logistic operator with a chaotic structure. At the same time, the periodic behavior of the iteration algorithms used in our study is illustrated by the Lyapunov exponent with parameter‐dependent control intervals according to operator norm. Finally, as a real‐life problem, it has been shown that the chaos of the logistic population growth model with dynamic features can be controlled by chaos control mechanisms established by fixed point iteration methods.

Abstract:We study controlled differential equations driven by a rough path (in the sense of T. Lyons) with an additional, possibly unbounded drift term. We show that the equation induces a solution flow if the drift grows at most linearly. Furthermore, we show that the semiflow exists assuming only appropriate one-sided growth conditions. We provide bounds for both the flow and the semiflow. Applied to stochastic analysis, our results imply strong completeness and the existence of a stochastic (semi)flow for a large class of stochastic differential equations. If the driving process is Gaussian, we can further deduce (essentially) sharp tail estimates for the (semi)flow and a Freidlin–Wentzell-type large deviation result.

Abstract:Based on the notion of paracontrolled distributions, we provide existence and uniqueness results for rough Volterra equations of convolution type with potentially singular kernels and driven by the newly introduced class of convolutional rough paths. The existence of such rough paths above a wide class of stochastic processes including the fractional Brownian motion is shown. As applications we consider various types of rough and stochastic (partial) differential equations such as rough differential equations with delay, stochastic Volterra equations driven by Gaussian processes and moving average equations driven by Lévy processes.

Abstract:Using the techniques in topological dynamics, we give a uniform treatment of Li-Yorke chaos, mean Li-Yorke chaos and distributional chaos for continuous endomorphisms of completely metrizable groups, and characterize three kinds of chaos (resp. extreme chaos) in term of the existence of corresponding semi-irregular points (resp. irregular points). We demonstrate some inner automorphisms of Polish groups to illustrate the results. We also apply the results to the chaos theory of continuous linear operators on Fréchet spaces, which improves some results in the literature.

Abstract:We give a definition of chaos for a continuous self-map of a general topological space. This definition coincides with the Devanney definition for chaos when the topological space happens to be a metric space. We show that in a uniform Hausdorff space, there is a meaningful definition of sensitive dependence on initial conditions, and prove that if a map is chaotic on a such a space, then it necessarily has sensitive dependence on initial conditions. The proof is interesting in that it explains very clearly what causes a chaotic process to have sensitive dependence. Finally, we construct a chaotic map on a non-metrizable topological space.
