Abstract:Let A be a connected graded algebra and let E denote its Ext-algebra. There is a natural A-infinity algebra structure on E, and we prove that this structure is mainly determined by the relations of A. In particular, the coefficients of the A-infinity products m_n restricted to the tensor powers of Ext^1 give the coefficients of the relations of A. We also relate the m_n's to Massey products.

Abstract:We generalize a theorem of Bismut–Zhang, which extends the Cheeger–Müller theorem on Ray–Singer torsion and Reidemeister torsion, to the case of infinite Galois covering spaces. Our result is stated in the framework of extended cohomology, and generalizes in this case a recent result of Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai. It does not use the determinant class condition and thus also (potentially) generalizes several results on L2-torsions due to Burghelea, Friedlander, Kappeler and McDonald. We combine the framework developed by Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai on the determinant of extended cohomology with the heat kernel method developed in the original paper of Bismut–Zhang to prove our result.

Abstract:Let G be one of the classical Lie groups GL(n+1)(R), GL(n+1)(C), U(p, q + 1), O(p, q + 1), On+1(C), SO(p, q + 1), SOn+1(C), and let G' be respectively the subgroup GL(n)(R), GL(n)(C), U(p, q), O(p, q), O-n(C), SO(p, q), SO (C), embedded in G in the standard way. We show that every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G' occurs with multiplicity at most one in every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G. Similar results are proved for the Jacobi groups GL(n)(R) (sic) H2n+1(R), GL(n)(C) (sic) H2n+1 (C), U(p, q) (sic) H2p+2q+1(R), Sp(2n)(R) (sic) H2n+1(R), Sp(2n)(C) (sic) H2n+1 (C) with their respective subgroups GL(n)(R), GL(n)(C), U(p, q), Sp(2n)(R), and SP2n(C).

Abstract:In this article, by studying the Bernstein degrees and Goldie rank polynomials, we establish a comparison between the irreducible representations of G = GL n （C） possessing the minimal Gelfand-Kirillov dimension and those induced from finite-dimensional representations of the maximal parabolic subgroup of G of type（n-1, 1）. We give the transition matrix between the two bases for the corresponding coherent families.

Abstract:Let G and C be two discrete abelian groups. It is known that Pext(C,G) is a subgroup of Ext(C,G). In this paper, we introduce the t-extensions of G by C. We will show that the set of all t-extensions of G by C is a subgroup of Ext(C,G) which contains Pext(C,G). Fulp and Griffith [4] determined the LCA groups G such that Ext(C,G)=0 for all compact connected groups C. Using the group of t-extensions, we determine the LCA groups G such that Pext(C,G)=0 for all compact connected groups C.

An extension of Steinberg's Theorem to biquotient pairs of subgroups

Abstract:We study the derived tensor product of the representation rings of subgroups of a given compact Lie group G. That is, given two such subgroups H_1 and H_2, we study the tensor product of the associated representation rings R(H_1) and R(H_2) over the representation ring RG, and prove a vanishing result for the associated higher Tor-groups. This result can be viewed as a natural generalization of the Theorem of Steinberg that asserts that the representation rings of maximal rank subgroups of G are free over RG. It my also be viewed as an analogue of a result of Singhof on the cohomology of classifying spaces. We include an immediate application to the complex K-theory of biquotient manifolds.

Abstract:When n is odd, consider the finite general linear and unitary groups of rank n, extended by the inverse transpose automorphism. There are elements in the extended groups which square to a regular unipotent element, and we evaluate the values of irreducible characters of the extended groups on these elements. Several intermediate results on real conjugacy classes and real-valued characters of these groups are obtained along the way.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the asymptotics of multiplicities of irreducible representations in large tensor products of finite dimensional representations of simple Lie algebras and their statistics with respect to Plancherel and character probability measures. We derive the asymptotic distribution of irreducible components for the Plancherel measure, generalizing results of Biane and Tate and Zelditch. We also derive the asymptotics of the character measure for generic parameters and an intermediate scaling in the vicinity of the Plancherel measure. It is interesting that the asymptotic measure is universal and after suitable renormalization does not depend on which representations were multiplied but depends significantly on the degeneracy of the parameter in the character distribution.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigated the problem of describing the form of higher Jordan triple derivations on trivial extension algebras. We show that every higher Jordan triple derivation on a $ 2 $-torsion free $ * $-type trivial extension algebra is a sum of a higher derivation and a higher anti-derivation. As for its applications, higher Jordan triple derivations on triangular algebras are characterized.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate non-abelian extensions and inducibility of pairs of automorphisms of Lie triple systems. First, we introduce non-abelian cohomology groups and classify the non-abelian extensions in terms of non-abelian cohomology groups. Next, we characterize the non-abelian extensions using Maurer-Cartan elements. Furthermore, we explore the inducibility of pairs of automorphisms and derive the analog Wells exact sequences under the circumstance of Lie triple systems. Finally, we state the previous results under the context of abelian extensions of Lie triple systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we first define a concrete representation on an abelian extension of a Leibniz triple system L by a Leibniz triple system A. Using this new representation we construct the third-order cohomology classes by derivations of A and L, which characterize the splitting property of above abelian extensions. Then we study the obstruction for extensibility of derivation pairs. We prove that the set of compatible derivation pairs can define a Lie algebra, whose representation can also characterize the extensibility of the compatible derivation pairs.

Abstract:For a prime p, we study the Galois groups of maximal pro-$p$ extensions of imaginary quadratic fields unramified outside a finite set $S$, where $S$ consists of one or two finite places not lying above $p$. When $p$ is odd, we give explicit presentations of these Galois groups under certain conditions. As an application, we determine the structure of the maximal pro-$3$ extension of $\mathbb{Q}(i)$ unramified outside two specific finite places.

Abstract:We show that a free action G ↷ X is almost finite if its restriction to some infinite normal subgroup of G is almost finite. Consider the class of groups which contains all infinite groups of locally subexponential growth and is closed under taking direct limits and extensions on the right by any amenable group. It follows that all free actions of a group from this class on finite-dimensional spaces are almost finite and therefore that minimal such actions give rise to classifiable crossed products. In particular, that gives a much easier proof for the recent result of Kerr and the author on elementary amenable groups.

Abstract:Let OEg (resp. CEg and AE(g)) and resp. OEgo be the maximum order of finite (resp. cyclic and abelian) groups G acting on the closed orientable surfaces Sigma(g) which extend over (S-3, Sigma(9)) among all embeddings Sigma(g) -> S-3 and resp. unknotted embeddings Sigma(g) -> S-3.It is known that OEgo <= 12(g - 1), and we show that 12(g - 1) is reached for an unknotted embedding Sigma(g) -> S-3 if and only if g = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 17, 25, 97, 121, 241, 601. Moreover AE(g) is 2g+2; and CEg is 2g+2 for even g, and 2g - 2 for odd g. Efforts are made to see intuitively how these maximal symmetries are embedded into the symmetries of the 3-sphere.
