Abstract:There has been a great deal of research on graphs defined on algebraic structures in the last two decades. In this paper we begin an exploration of hypergraphs defined on algebraic structures, especially groups, to investigate whether this can add a new perspective.

Abstract:In a recent paper Cameron, Lakshmanan and Ajith began an exploration of hypergraphs defined on algebraic structures, especially groups, to investigate whether this can add a new perspective. Following their suggestions, we consider suitable hypergraphs encoding the generating properties of a finite group. In particular, answering a question asked in their paper, we classified the finite solvable groups whose generating hypergraph is the basis hypergraph of a matroid.

Abstract:We initiate the study of torsion-free algebraically hyperbolic groups; these groups generalise torsion-free hyperbolic groups and are intricately related to groups with no Baumslag--Solitar subgroups. Indeed, for groups of cohomological dimension $2$ we prove that algebraic hyperbolicity is equivalent to containing no Baumslag--Solitar subgroups. This links algebraically hyperbolic groups to two famous questions of Gromov; recent work has shown these questions to have negative answers in general, but they remain open for groups of cohomological dimension $2$. We also prove that algebraically hyperbolic groups are CSA, and so have canonical abelian JSJ-decompositions. In the two-generated case we give a precise description of the form of these decompositions.

Abstract:We give a definition of hypergraph C*-algebras. These generalize the well-known graph C*-algebras as well as ultragraph C*-algebras. In contrast to those objects, hypergraph C*-algebras are not always nuclear. We provide a number of non-nuclear examples, we prove a Gauge-Invariant Uniqueness Theorem for a subclass of hypergraph C*-algebras and we study moves on hypergraphs which generalize the moves in the theory of graph C*-algebras.

Abstract:Genevois recently classified which graph braid groups on $\ge 3$ strands are word hyperbolic. In the $3$-strand case, he asked whether all such word hyperbolic groups are actually free; this reduced to checking two infinite classes of graphs: sun and pulsar graphs. We prove that $3$-strand braid groups of sun graphs are free. On the other hand, it was known to experts that $3$-strand braid groups of most pulsar graphs contain surface subgroups. We provide a simple proof of this and prove an additional structure theorem for these groups.

Abstract:Abstract In this chapter, we introduce the mathematical foundations of hypergraph and present the mathematical notations that are used to facilitate deep understanding and analysis of hypergraph structure. A hypergraph is composed of a set of vertices and hyperedges, and it is a generalization of a graph, where a weighted hypergraph quantifies the relative importance of hyperedges or vertices. Hypergraph can also be divided into two main categories, i.e., the undirected hypergraph representation and the directed hypergraph representation. The latter one further divides the vertices in one hyperedge into the source vertex set and the target vertex set to model more complex correlations. Additionally, we discuss the relationship between hypergraph and graph from the perspective of structural transformation and expressive ability. The most intuitive difference between a simple graph and a hypergraph can be observed in the size of order and expression of adjacency. A hypergraph can be converted into a simple graph using clique expansion, star expansion, and line expansion. Moreover, the proof based on random walks and Markov chains establishes the relationship between hypergraphs with edge-independent vertex weights and weighted graphs.

Abstract:Using the formalism of species and twisted objects, we introduce two structures of cointeracting bialgebras on hypergraphs, induced by two notions of induced sub-hypergraphs. We study the associated unique morphisms of cointeracting bialgebras from hypergraphs to the polynomial algebra in one indeterminate: in the first case, this gives the chromatic polynomial of a graph attached to the considered hypergraph. In the second case, we obtained Helgason's notion of chromatic polynomial of a hypergraph. We obtain Hopf-algebraic proves of results about the values of this chromatic polynomial in -1 or about its coefficients, with the help of the action of a monoid of characters. This allows to give multiplicity-free formulas for the antipodes of these objects, using various notions of acyclic orientations of hypergraphs. Mixing the two notions of induced sub-hypergraphs, we obtain a third Hopf algebra, firstly described by Aguiar and Ardila. We obtain negative results on the existence of a second coproduct making it a cointeracting bialgebra. Anyway, it is still possible to obtain a polynomial invariant from this structure, which is the chomatic polynomial described by Aval, Kharagbossian and Tanasa. We nally study Iovanov and Jaiung's Hopf algebra of multi-complexes, making it a cointeracting bialgebra which has for quotient one of the preceding cointeracting bialgebras of hypergraphs.

Abstract:Current paper introduces a Hypergraph Graph model of data storage which can be represented as a hybrid data structure based on Hypergraph and Graph. The pro-posed data structure is claimed to realize complex combinatorial structures. The formal definition of the data structure is presented along with the proper justification from real world scenarios. The paper reports some elementary concepts of Hypergraph and presents theoretical aspects of the proposed data structure including the concepts of Path, Cycle etc. The detailed analysis of weighted HG 2 is presented along with discussions on Cost involved with HG 2 paths.

Abstract:Providing an abstract representation of natural and human complex structures is a challenging problem. Accounting for the system heterogenous components while allowing for analytical tractability is a difficult balance. Here I introduce complex hypergraphs (chygraphs), bringing together concepts from hypergraphs, multilayer networks, simplicial complexes, and hyperstructures. To illustrate the applicability of this combinatorial structure I calculate the component sizes statistics and identify the transition to a giant component. To this end I introduce a vectorization technique that tackles the multilevel nature of chygraphs. I conclude that chygraphs are a unifying representation of complex systems allowing for analytical insight.

Abstract:We define graded Hopf algebras with bases labeled by various types of graphs and hypergraphs, provided with natural embeddings into an algebra of polynomials in infinitely many variables. These algebras are graded by the number of edges and can be considered as generalizations of symmetric or quasi-symmetric functions.

Abstract:Graph neural networks generalize conventional neural networks to graph-structured data and have received widespread attention due to their impressive representation ability. In spite of the remarkable achievements, the performance of Euclidean models in graph-related learning is still bounded and limited by the representation ability of Euclidean geometry, especially for datasets with highly non-Euclidean latent anatomy. Recently, hyperbolic space has gained increasing popularity in processing graph data with tree-like structure and power-law distribution, owing to its exponential growth property. In this survey, we comprehensively revisit the technical details of the current hyperbolic graph neural networks, unifying them into a general framework and summarizing the variants of each component. More importantly, we present various HGNN-related applications. Last, we also identify several challenges, which potentially serve as guidelines for further flourishing the achievements of graph learning in hyperbolic spaces.

Abstract:An arithmetical structure on a finite, connected graph without loops is an assignment of positive integers to the vertices that satisfies certain conditions. Associated to each of these is a finite abelian group known as its critical group. We show how to determine the critical group of an arithmetical structure on a star graph or complete graph in terms of the entries of the arithmetical structure. We use this to investigate which finite abelian groups can occur as critical groups of arithmetical structures on these graphs.

Abstract:We propose a tensor product structure that is compatible with the hypergraph structure. We define the algebraic connectivity of the $(m+1)$-uniform hypergraph in this product, and prove the relationship with the vertex connectivity. We introduce some connectivity optimization problem into the hypergraph, and solve them with the algebraic connectivity. We introduce the Laplacian eigenmap algorithm to the hypergraph under our tensor product.

Abstract:Hypergraphs have emerged as a powerful modeling framework to represent systems with multiway interactions, that is systems where interactions may involve an arbitrary number of agents. Here we explore the properties of real-world hypergraphs, focusing on the encapsulation of their hyperedges, which is the extent that smaller hyperedges are subsets of larger hyperedges. Building on the concept of line graphs, our measures quantify the relations existing between hyperedges of different sizes and, as a byproduct, the compatibility of the data with a simplicial complex representation -- whose encapsulation would be maximum. We then turn to the impact of the observed structural patterns on diffusive dynamics, focusing on a variant of threshold models, called encapsulation dynamics, and demonstrate that non-random patterns can accelerate the spreading in the system.

Abstract:After introducing the notion of hyperstructures about 80 years ago, a number of researches on its applications have been done. This paper can be considered as one of its applications on Biology. It is well known that biological inheritance is related to Mathematics in the sense of probability. In this paper, we consider another relationship between inheritance and Mathematics in which we present a connection between it and hyperstructures. First, we present examples of five different types of Non- Mendelian inheritance and study, for the first time, their relation with hyperstucture theory. Then we make some hypothetical crosses for the n- hybrid case for both simple and incomplete inheritances and study their relations with hyperstructures.
