Abstract:The iron-based compounds of the so-called 12442 family are very peculiar in various respects. They originate from the intergrowth of 122 and 1111 building blocks, display a large in-plane vs. out-of-plane anisotropy, possess double layers of FeAs separated by insulating layers, and are generally very similar to double-layer cuprates. Moreover, they are stoichiometric superconductors because of an intrinsic hole doping. Establishing their superconducting properties, and in particular the symmetry of the order parameter, is thus particularly relevant in order to understand to what extent these compounds can be considered as the iron-based counterpart of cuprates. In this work we review the results of various techniques from the current literature and compare them with ours, obtained in Rb-12442 by combining point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy and coplanar waveguide resonator measurements of the superfluid density. It turns out that the compound possesses at least two gaps, one of which is certainly nodal. The compatibility of this result with the theoretically allowed gap structures, as well as with the other results in literature, is discussed in detail.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the nature and symmetry of the superconducting gap in the 12442 - family materials of iron - based superconductors. Specifically, the author studied the superfluid density in the Rb - 124442 compound through the comprehensive point - contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy and coplanar waveguide resonator measurement methods, aiming to determine whether there are multiple gaps in this compound and explore the nodal characteristics of these gaps. The paper pays special attention to the compatibility between these results and the theoretically allowed gap structures as well as the results of other literatures. The main objectives of the paper can be summarized as follows: 1. **Determine the number of gaps**: The study found that there are at least two gaps in this compound, and one of them is definitely nodal. This indicates that the iron - based superconductors of the 12442 family may have a complex gap structure. 2. **Analyze the gap symmetry**: By comparing the results of different experimental techniques, the paper discussed the relationship between these results and the theoretically allowed gap symmetries. In particular, the author explored whether these gaps conform to s± symmetry or d - wave symmetry. 3. **Understand the superconducting mechanism**: Through a detailed analysis of the gap characteristics, the paper attempted to reveal the essence of the superconducting mechanism in the 12442 - family materials. For example, the nodal characteristics of the gap may be related to the spin - fluctuation - mediated pairing mechanism. 4. **Comparison with other iron - based superconductors**: The paper also discussed the similarities and differences between the superconducting properties of the 12442 - family materials and those of bilayer cuprates (such as Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ or YBa2Cu3O6+δ) in order to better understand the position of these new materials in iron - based superconductors. In conclusion, through multiple experimental means, this paper systematically studied the nature of the superconducting gap in the Rb - 12442 compound, aiming to deeply understand its superconducting mechanism and gap symmetry. These research results are of great significance for promoting the research of iron - based superconductors.
