As an application we obtain new results about the uniqueness of enhancements in chromatic homotopy theory.

Abstract:Given a suitable stable monoidal model category $\mathscr{C}$ and a specialization closed subset $V$ of its Balmer spectrum one can produce a Tate square for decomposing objects into the part supported over $V$ and the part supported over $V^c$ spliced with the Tate object. Using this one can show that $\mathscr{C}$ is Quillen equivalent to a model built from the data of local torsion objects, and the splicing data lies in a rather rich category. As an application, we promote the torsion model for the homotopy category of rational circle-equivariant spectra from [18] to a Quillen equivalence. In addition, a close analysis of the one step case highlights important features needed for general torsion models which we will return to in future work.

Abstract:We study the problem of when triangulated categories admit unique infinity-categorical enhancements. Our results use Lurie's theory of prestable infinity-categories to give conceptual proofs of, and in many cases strengthen, previous work on the subject by Lunts--Orlov and Canonaco--Stellari. We also give a wide range of examples involving quasi-coherent sheaves, categories of almost modules, and local cohomology to illustrate the theory of prestable infinity-categories. Finally, we propose a theory of stable $n$-categories which would interpolate between triangulated categories and stable infinity-categories.
Chern Characteristics and Todd-Hirzebruch Identities for Transpolar Pairs of Toric Spaces

Abstract:Standard toric geometry methods used to construct Calabi-Yau varieties may be extended to complete intersections in non-Fano varieties encoded by star triangulating non-convex polytopes. Similarly, mirror symmetry is conjectured to hold in terms of a transpolar duality generalizing the original construction of Batyrev and Borisov. The associated mirror pairs naturally include certain flip-folded, multi-layered multihedral objects, inclusively named VEX multitopes, and a correspondingly generalized transpolar duality. These self-overlaying VEX multitopes, long since known in pre-symplectic geometry, are found to correspond to certain non-algebraic but smooth toric spaces with Chern classes that satisfy the standard Todd-Hirzebruch identities. The computation of diffeomorphism invariants, including characteristic submanifold intersection numbers, corroborates their recent inclusion in the connected web of Calabi-Yau spaces and associated string compactifications: They arise together with the standard (Fano/reflexive polytope) constructions, within deformation families of generalized complete intersections in products of projective spaces.

Descent in tensor triangular geometry

Abstract:We investigate to what extent we can descend the classification of localizing, smashing and thick ideals in a presentably symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-category $\mathscr{C}$ along a descendable commutative algebra $A$. We establish equalizer diagrams relating the lattices of localizing and smashing ideals of $\mathscr{C}$ to those of $\mathrm{Mod}_{A}(\mathscr{C})$ and $\mathrm{Mod}_{A\otimes A}(\mathscr{C})$. If $A$ is compact, we obtain a similar equalizer for the lattices of thick ideals which, via Stone duality, yields a coequalizer diagram of Balmer spectra in the category of spectral spaces. We then give conditions under which the telescope conjecture and stratification descend from $\mathrm{Mod}_{A}(\mathscr{C})$ to $\mathscr{C}$. The utility of these results is demonstrated in the case of faithful Galois extensions in tensor triangular geometry.

On uniqueness of tensor products of irreducible categorifications

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an axiomatic definition for a tensor product categorification. A tensor product categorification is an abelian category with a categorical action of a Kac-Moody algebra g in the sense of Rouquier or Khovanov-Lauda whose Grothendieck group is isomorphic to a tensor product of simple modules. However, we require a much stronger structure than a mere isomorphism of representations; most importantly, each such categorical representation must have standardly stratified structure compatible with the categorification functors, and with combinatorics matching those of the tensor product. With these stronger conditions, we recover a uniqueness theorem similar in flavor to that of Rouquier for categorifications of simple modules. Furthermore, we already know of an example of such a categorification: the representations of algebras T^\lambda previously defined by the second author using generators and relations. Next, we show that tensor product categorifications give a categorical realization of tensor product crystals analogous to that for simple crystals given by cyclotomic quotients of KLR algebras. Examples of such categories are also readily found in more classical representation theory; for finite and affine type A, tensor product categorifications can be realized as quotients of the representation categories of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.

On surjectivity in tensor triangular geometry

Abstract:We prove that a jointly conservative family of geometric functors between rigidly-compactly generated tensor triangulated categories induces a surjective map on Balmer spectra. From this we deduce a fiberwise criterion for Balmer's comparison map to be a continuous bijection. This gives short alternative proofs of the Hopkins--Neeman theorem and its generalization, due to Lau, to the case of a finite group acting trivially on an affine scheme.

Abstract:We modify the axioms of triangulated categories to include both higher triangles and distinguished maps of higher triangles. The distinguished maps are specializations of Neeman's ``good'' maps of $2$-triangles. The axioms both simplify Neeman's axioms in his 1991 paper and generalize them to higher triangles in the way proposed by Balmer et al. We provide a geometric formulation via directed truncated simplices to enable a more concrete approach. The axioms are modelled by homotopy and derived categories. We look at a number of key theorems including the fact that sums of maps of $2$-triangles are distinguished if and only if the maps are distinguished and a strong version of the $3$x$3$ lemma. These illustrate some key proof methods. We also show that maps of faces of distinguished triangles are distinguished. We construct some useful distinguished $5$-triangles.

Abstract:One way to understand the deformation theory of a tensor category $M$ is through its Davydov-Yetter cohomology $H_{DY}^{\ast}(M)$ which in degree 3 and 4 is known to control respectively first order deformations of the associativity coherence of $M$ and their obstructions. \\ In this work we take the task of developing an analogous theory for the deformation theory of tensor triangulated categories with a focus on derived categories coming from algebraic geometry. We introduce the concept of perfect pseudo dg-tensor structure $\Gamma$ on an appropriate dg-category $\mathscr{T}$ as a truncated dg-lift of a tensor triangulated category structure on $H^{0}(\mathscr{T})$ and we define a double complex $DY^{\ast,\ast}(\Gamma)$ and we see that the 4th cohomology group $HDY^{4}(\Gamma)$ of the total complex of $DY^{\ast,\ast}(\Gamma)$ contains information about infinitesimal first order deformations of the tensor structure.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate homologically finite-dimensional objects in the derived category of a given small dg-enhanced triangulated category. Using these we define reflexivity, hfd-closedness, and the Gorenstein property for triangulated categories, and discuss crepant categorical contractions. We illustrate the introduced notions on examples of categories of geometric and algebraic origin and provide geometric applications. In particular, we apply our results to prove a bijection between semiorthogonal decompositions of the derived category of a singular variety and the derived category of its smoothing with support on the central fiber.

Abstract:This paper surveys some recent results, concerning the intrinsicness of natural subcategories of weakly approximable triangulated subcategories. We also review the results about uniqueness of enhancements of triangulated categories, with the aim of showing the fruitful interplay. In particular, we show how this leads to a vast generalization of a result by Rickard about derived invariance for schemes and rings.

Abstract:We show that at the prime 2, for any height $h$ and any finite subgroup $G \subset \mathbb{G}_h$ of the Morava stabilizer group, the $RO(G)$-graded homotopy fixed point spectral sequence for the Lubin--Tate spectrum $E_h$ has a strong horizontal vanishing line of filtration $N_{h, G}$, a specific number depending on $h$ and $G$. It is a consequence of the nilpotence theorem that such homotopy fixed point spectral sequences all admit strong horizontal vanishing lines at some finite filtration. Here, we establish specific bounds for them. Our bounds are sharp for all the known computations of $E_h^{hG}$. Our approach involves investigating the effect of the Hill--Hopkins--Ravenel norm functor on the slice differentials. As a result, we also show that the $RO(G)$-graded slice spectral sequence for $(N_{C_2}^{G}\bar{v}_h)^{-1}BP^{(\!(G)\!)}$ shares the same horizontal vanishing line at filtration $N_{h, G}$. As an application, we utilize this vanishing line to establish a bound on the orientation order $\Theta(h, G)$, the smallest number such that the $\Theta(h, G)$-fold direct sum of any real vector bundle is $E_h^{hG}$-orientable.

Abstract:Ocneanu's tube algebra provides a finite algorithm to compute the Drinfeld center of a fusion category. In this work we reveal the universal property underlying the tube algebra. Take a base category $\mathcal V$ which is concrete, bicomplete, and symmetric closed monoidal. For physical applications one takes $\mathcal V=\mathbf{Vec}$ the category of vector spaces. Given a $\mathcal V$-enriched monoidal category $\mathcal C$ (not necessarily finite or semisimple) we define the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ using coends valued in $\mathcal V$. Our main theorem established the relation between (the category of representations of) the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ and the Drinfeld center $Z(\mathcal C)$: When $\mathcal C$ is pivotal, we prove that $Z(\mathcal C)\hookrightarrow \mathrm{Fun}(\mathbb X \mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V)\cong Z(\mathrm{Fun}(\mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V))$. Physically, besides viewing the tube category as a version of TFT with domain being the tube, we emphasize the "Wick-rotated" perspective, that the morphisms in $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ are the local tensors of fixed-point matrix product operators which preserves the symmetry $\mathcal C$ in one spatial dimension. We provide a first-principle flavored construction, from microscopic quantum degrees of freedom and operators perserving the symmetry, to the macroscopic universal properties of the symmetry which form the Drinfeld center. Our work is thus a proof to the 1+1D topological holography in a very general setting.

Abstract:These notes attempt to give a short survey of the approach to support theory and the study of lattices of triangulated subcategories through the machinery of tensor triangular geometry. One main aim is to introduce the material necessary to state and prove the local-to-global principle. In particular, we discuss Balmer's construction of the spectrum, generalised Rickard idempotents and support for compactly generated triangulated categories, and actions of tensor triangulated categories. Several examples are also given along the way. These notes are based on a series of lectures given during the Spring 2015 program on 'Interactions between Representation Theory, Algebraic Topology and Commutative Algebra' (IRTATCA) at the CRM in Barcelona.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of homological systems $\Theta$ for triangulated categories. Homological systems generalize, on one hand, the notion of stratifying systems in module categories, and on the other hand, the notion of exceptional sequences in triangulated categories. We prove that, attached to the homological system $\Theta,$ there are two standardly stratified algebras $A$ and $B,$ which are derived equivalent. Furthermore, it is proved that the category $\F(\Theta),$ of the $\Theta$-filtered objects in a triangulated category $\T,$ admits in a very natural way an structure of an exact category, and then there are exact equivalences between the exact category $\F(\Theta)$ and the exact categories of the $\Delta$-good modules associated to the standardly stratified algebras $A$ and $B.$ Some of the obtained results can be seen also under the light of the cotorsion pairs in the sense of Iyama-Nakaoka-Yoshino (see \ref{CotorsionThetaSys1} and \ref{CotorsionThetaSys2}). We recall that cotorsion pairs are studied extensively in relation with cluster tilting categories, $t$-structures and co-$t$-structures.

Abstract:We consider a 3-Calabi-Yau triangulated category associated to an ideal triangulation of a marked bordered surface. Using the theory of harmonic maps between Riemann surfaces, we construct a natural map from a component of the space of Bridgeland stability conditions on this category to the enhanced Teichmüller space of the surface. We describe a relationship between the central charges of objects in the category and shear coordinates on the Teichmüller space.

Abstract:We develop the technique of geometric realizations with algebraically independent (over the field of real algebraic numbers) coordinates of vertices and combine it with the oriented volume method inspired by work of McLennan and Tourky on the Sperner's lemma. This enables us to prove new results: the non-draw property of the generalized Y game, the theorem about triangulation of the product of two simplices, multilabeled Ky Fan' s lemma, and give new proofs of known results: the multilabeled version of Sperner's lemma and generalized Atanassov conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the strength of chromatic symmetric homology as a graph invariant. Chromatic symmetric homology is a lift of the chromatic symmetric function for graphs to a homological setting, and its Frobenius characteristic is a q , t generalization of the chromatic symmetric function. We exhibit three pairs of graphs where each pair has the same chromatic symmetric function but distinct homology over C as S n -modules. We also show that integral chromatic symmetric homology contains torsion, and based on computations, conjecture that Z 2 -torsion in bigrading ( 1 , 0 ) detects nonplanarity in the graph.

Abstract:We initiate the theory of graded commutative 2-rings, a categorification of graded commutative rings. The goal is to provide a systematic generalization of Paul Balmer's comparison maps between the spectrum of tensor-triangulated categories and the Zariski spectra of their central rings. By applying our constructions, we compute the spectrum of the derived category of perfect complexes over any graded commutative ring, and we associate to every scheme with an ample family of line bundles an embedding into the spectrum of an associated graded commutative 2-ring.

Abstract:Implementing an idea due to John Baez and James Dolan we define new invariants of Whitney stratified manifolds by considering the homotopy theory of smooth transversal maps. To each Whitney stratified manifold we assign transversal homotopy monoids, one for each natural number. The assignment is functorial for a natural class of maps which we call stratified normal submersions. When the stratification is trivial the transversal homotopy monoids are isomorphic to the usual homotopy groups. We compute some simple examples and explore the elementary properties of these invariants. We also assign `higher invariants', the transversal homotopy categories, to each Whitney stratified manifold. These have a rich structure; they are rigid monoidal categories for n>1 and ribbon categories for n>2. As an example we show that the transversal homotopy categories of a sphere, stratified by a point and its complement, are equivalent to categories of framed tangles.
