Abstract:The real torus manifolds are a generalization of small covers and generalized real Bott manifolds. We compute the LS-category of these manifolds under some constraints and obtain sharp bounds on their topological complexities. We obtain a simplified description of their cohomology ring and discuss a relation on the cup-product of its generators. We obtain the sharp bounds on their zero-divisors-cup-lengths. We improve the dimensional upper bound on their topological complexity. We also show that under certain hypotheses, the topological complexity of real torus manifolds of dimension $n$ is either $2n$ or $2n+1$. We compute the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-equivariant LS-category of any small cover when the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-fixed points are path connected. We then compute the LS-category of Dold manifolds of real torus type and obtain sharp bounds on their topological complexity. In the end, we obtain sharp bounds on the symmetric topological complexity of a class of these manifolds.

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf K-algebras, over a field K of characteristic zero, is a semi-abelian category. Moreover, we show that this category is action representable, and that it contains a torsion theory whose torsion-free and torsion parts are given by the category of groups and by the category of Lie K-algebras, respectively.

Abstract:The torsion conjecture says: for any abelian variety A defined over a number field k , the order of the torsion subgroup of A ( k ) is bounded by a constant C ( k, d ) which depends only on the number field k and the dimension d of the abelian variety. The torsion conjecture remains open in general. However, in this paper, a short argument shows that the conjecture is true for more general fields if we consider linear groups instead of abelian varieties. If G is a connected linear algebraic group defined over a field k which is finitely generated over ℚ, Γ is a torsion subgroup of G ( k ). Then the order of Γ is bounded by a constant C ′( k, d ) which depends only on k and the dimension d of G .

Abstract:In abelian categories like the category of R-modules and even in the category S-Act 0 of S-acts with a unique zero, idempotent radicals and torsion theories are equivalent, and the {\tau}-torsion and {\tau}- torsion free classes of a torsion theory {\tau} are closed under coproducts. These are not necessarily true in the category S-Act of S-acts. In this paper, we prove that torsion theories are equivalent with the Kurosh- Amitsur radicals. We, also, show that the class of Kurosh-Amitsur radicals is a reflective subcategory of Hoehnke radicals, as a poset.

Torsion Pairs in Categories of Modules on Ringed Finite Sites

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a small category. In this paper, we mainly study the category of modules $\mathfrak{M}\mbox{od-}\mathfrak{R}$ on ringed sites $(\mathbf{C},\mathfrak{R})$. We firstly reprove the Theorem A of the paper (M. Wu and F. Xu. Skew category algebras and modules on ringed finite sites. J. A. 631, 2023), then we characterize $\mathfrak{M}\mbox{od-}\mathfrak{R}$ in terms of the torsion presheaves on $Gr(\mathfrak{R})$, where $Gr(\mathfrak{R})$ is the linear Grothendieck construction of $\mathfrak{R}$. Finally, we investigate the hereditary torsion pairs, TTF triples and Abelian recollements of $\mathfrak{M}\mbox{od-}\mathfrak{R}$. When $\mathcal{C}$ is finite, the complete classifications of all these are given respectively.

Abstract:In this short note we discuss certain examples of Legendrian submanifolds, whose linearized Legendrian contact (co)homology groups over integers have non-vanishing algebraic torsion. More precisely, for a given arbitrary finitely generated abelian group $G$ and a positive integer $n\geq 3$, $n\neq 4$, we construct examples of Legendrian submanifolds of the standard contact vector space $\mathbb R^{2n+1}$, whose $n-1$-th linearized Legendrian contact (co)homology over $\mathbb Z$ computed with respect to a certain augmentation is isomorphic to $G$.

Abstract:Recently, a new homotopy invariant of metric spaces, called the distributional LS-category, was defined, which provides a lower bound to the classical LS-category. In this paper, we obtain several sufficient conditions for the distributional LS-category (dcat) of a closed manifold to be maximum, i.e., equal to its classical LS-category (cat). These give us many new computations of dcat, especially for some essential manifolds and (generalized) connected sums. In the process, we also determine the cat of closed 3-manifolds having torsion-free fundamental groups and some closed geometrically decomposable 4-manifolds. Finally, we extend some of our results to closed Alexandrov spaces with curvature bounded below and discuss their cat and dcat in dimension 3.

Universal Extensions and Ext-Orthogonal Complements of Torsion Classes

Abstract:We show that torsion pairs in Krull--Schmidt abelian categories induce an equivalence between the subcategory of torsion-free objects admitting universal extensions to the torsion subcategory, and a quotient of the ext-orthogonal complement of the torsion subcategory. This generalize an equivalence described by Bauer--Botnan--Oppermann--Steen for tilting-torsion pairs and by Buan--Zhou for functorially finite torsion pairs. The result also provides a more direct proof of the functorially finite case, not relying on the machinery of two-term silting complexes. We illustrate the equivalence in the special case of tube categories. After first appearing on the arXiv, the author learnt that the equivalence has previously been described by Demonet--Iyama.

Abstract:Let $F$ and $F'$ be two $l$-close nonarchimedean local fields, where $l$ is a positive integer, and let $\mathrm{T}$ and $\mathrm{T}'$ be two tori over $F$ and $F'$, respectively, such that their cocharacter lattices can be identified as modules over the ''at most $l$-ramified'' absolute Galois group $\Gamma_F/I_F^l \cong\Gamma_{F'}/I_{F'}^l$. In the spirit of the work of Kazhdan and Ganapathy, for every positive integer $m$ relative to which $l$ is large, we construct a congruent isomorphism $\mathrm{T}(F)/\mathrm{T}(F)_m\cong\mathrm{T}'(F')/\mathrm{T}'(F')_m$, where $\mathrm{T}(F)_m$ and $\mathrm{T}(F')_m$ are the minimal congruent filtration subgroups of $\mathrm{T}(F)$ and $\mathrm{T}(F')$, respectively, defined by J.-K.~Yu. We prove that this isomorphism is functorial and compatible with both the isomorphism constructed by Chai and Yu and the Kottwitz homomorphism for tori. We show that, when $l$ is even larger relative to $m$, it moreover respects the local Langlands correspondence for tori.

A Categorification of Morelli's Theorem and Homological Mirror Symmetry for Toric Varieties

Abstract:Let $X_\Sigma$ be a complete toric variety. The coherent-constructible correspondence $\kappa$ of \cite{FLTZ} equates $\Perf_T(X_\Sigma)$ with a subcategory $Sh_{cc}(M_\bR;\LS)$ of constructible sheaves on a vector space $M_\bR.$ The microlocalization equivalence $\mu$ of \cite{NZ,N} relates these sheaves to a subcategory $Fuk(T^*M_\bR;\LS)$ of the Fukaya category of the cotangent $T^*M_\bR$. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular, taking the derived category yields an equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry, $DCoh_T(X_\Si)\cong DFuk(T^*M_\bR;\LS)$, which is an equivalence of triangulated tensor categories. The nonequivariant coherent-constructible correspondence $\bar{\kappa}$ of \cite{T} embeds $\Perf(X_\Si)$ into a subcategory $Sh_c(T_\bR^\vee;\bar{\Lambda}_\Si)$ of constructible sheaves on a compact torus $T_\bR^\vee$. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular, the composition of $\bar{\kappa}$ and microlocalization yields a version of homological mirror symmetry, $DCoh(X_\Sigma)\hookrightarrow DFuk(T^*T_\bR;\bar{\Lambda}_\Si)$, which is a full embedding of triangulated tensor categories. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular and projective, the composition $\tau=\mu\circ \kappa$ is compatible with T-duality, in the following sense. An equivariant ample line bundle $\cL$ has a hermitian metric invariant under the real torus, whose connection defines a family of flat line bundles over the real torus orbits. This data produces a T-dual Lagrangian brane $\mathbb L$ on the universal cover $T^*M_\bR$ of the dual real torus fibration. We prove $\mathbb L\cong \tau(\cL)$ in $Fuk(T^*M_\bR;\LS).$ Thus, equivariant homological mirror symmetry is determined by T-duality.

For a convenient category of spaces we then obtain a universal abelian category which can be actually described for CW-complexes as the category of hieratic modules.

Abstract:We introduce a method for associating a chain complex to a module over a combinatorial category, such that if the complex is exact then the module has a rational Hilbert series. We prove homology--vanishing theorems for these complexes for several combinatorial categories including: the category of finite sets and injections, the opposite of the category of finite sets and surjections, and the category of finite dimensional vector spaces over a finite field and injections. Our main applications are to modules over the opposite of the category of finite sets and surjections, known as $FS^{op}$ modules. We obtain many constraints on the sequence of symmetric group representations underlying a finitely generated $FS^{op}$ module. In particular, we describe its character in terms of functions that we call character exponentials. Our results have new consequences for the character of the homology of the moduli space of stable marked curves, and for the equivariant Kazhdan-Luzstig polynomial of the braid matroid.

Abstract:Given a finite category T, we consider the functor category [T,A], where A can in particular be any quasi-abelian category. Examples of quasi-abelian categories are given by any abelian category but also by non-exact additive categories as the categories of torsion(-free) abelian groups, topological abelian groups, locally compact abelian groups, Banach spaces and Fréchet spaces. In this situation, the categories of various internal categorical structures in A, such as the categories of internal n-fold groupoids, are equivalent to functor categories [T,A] for a suitable category T. For a replete full subcategory S of T, we define F to be the full subcategory of [T,A] whose objects are given by the functors G with G(X)=0 for all objects X not in S. We prove that F is a torsion-free Birkhoff subcategory of [T,A]. This allows us to study (higher) central extensions from categorical Galois theory in [T,A] with respect to F and generalized Hopf formulae for homology.

On the growth of torsion in the cohomology of some arithmetic groups of $\mathbb{Q}$-rank one

Abstract:Given a number field $F$ with ring of integers $\mathcal{O}_{F}$, one can associate to any torsion free subgroup of $\operatorname{SL}(2,\mathcal{O}_{F})$ of finite index a complete Riemannian manifold of finite volume with fibered cusp ends. For natural choices of flat vector bundles on such a manifold, we show that analytic torsion is identified with the Reidemeister torsion of the Borel-Serre compactification. This is used to obtain exponential growth of torsion in the cohomology for sequences of congruence subgroups.

Abstract:Given an oligomorphic group $G$ and a measure $\mu$ for $G$ (in a sense that we introduce), we define a rigid tensor category $\underline{\mathrm{Perm}}(G; \mu)$ of "permutation modules," and, in certain cases, an abelian envelope $\underline{\mathrm{Rep}}(G; \mu)$ of this category. When $G$ is the infinite symmetric group, this recovers Deligne's interpolation category. Other choices for $G$ lead to fundamentally new tensor categories. For example, we construct the first known semi-simple pre-Tannakian categories in positive characteristic with super-exponential growth. One interesting aspect of our construction is that, unlike previous work in this direction, our categories are concrete: the objects are modules over a ring, and the tensor product receives a universal bi-linear map. Central to our constructions is a novel theory of integration on oligomorphic groups, which could be of more general interest. Classifying the measures on an oligomorphic group appears to be a difficult problem, which we solve in only a few cases.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{U}$ be a braided tensor category, typically unknown, complicated and in particular non-semisimple. We characterize $\mathcal{U}$ under the assumption that there exists a commutative algebra $A$ in $\mathcal{U}$ with certain properties: Let $\mathcal{C}$ be the category of local $A$-modules in $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ the category of $A$-modules in $\mathcal{U}$, which are in our set-up usually much simpler categories than $\mathcal{U}$. Then we can characterize $\mathcal{U}$ as a relative Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}_\mathcal{C}(\mathcal{B})$ and $\mathcal{B}$ as representations of a certain Hopf algebra inside $\mathcal{C}$. In particular this allows us to reduce braided tensor equivalences to the knowledge of abelian equivalences, e.g. if we already know that $\mathcal{U}$ is abelian equivalent to the category of modules of some quantum group $U_q$ or some generalization thereof, and if $\mathcal{C}$ is braided equivalent to a category of graded vector spaces, and if $A$ has a certain form, then we already obtain a braided tensor equivalence between $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathrm{Rep}(U_q)$. A main application of our theory is to prove logarithmic Kazhdan-Lusztig correspondences, that is, equivalences of braided tensor categories of representations of vertex algebras and of quantum groups. Here, the algebra $A$ and the corresponding category $\mathcal{C}$ are a-priori given by a free-field realization of the vertex algebra and by a Nichols algebra. We illustrate this in those examples where the representation theory of the vertex algebra is well enough understood. In particular we prove the conjectured correspondences between the singlet vertex algebra $\mathcal{M}(p)$ and the unrolled small quantum groups of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at $2p$-th root of unity. Another new example is the Kazhdan-Lusztig correspondence for $\mathfrak{gl}_{1|1}$.

Abstract:We show that Kazhdan and Lusztig's category $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ of modules for the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$ at an admissible level $k$, equivalently the category of finite-length grading-restricted generalized modules for the universal affine vertex operator algebra $V^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, is a braided tensor category. Although this tensor category is not rigid, we show that the subcategory of all rigid objects in $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ is equal to the subcategory of all projective objects, and that every simple module in $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ has a projective cover. Moreover, we show that the full subcategory of projective objects in $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ is monoidal equivalent to the category of tilting modules for quantum $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at the root of unity $\zeta=e^{\pi i/(k+2)}$. Using this, we establish a universal property of the tensor category $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, and as an application, we prove a weak Kazhdan-Lusztig correspondence, that is, we obtain an exact essentially surjective (but not full or faithful) tensor functor from $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ to the category of finite dimensional weight modules for the quantum group associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at the root of unity $\zeta $. We also use the universal property to classify the categories $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ up to (braided) tensor equivalence and to obtain a tensor-categorical version of quantum Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction, that is, we construct a braided tensor functor from $KL^k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ to a category of modules for the Virasoro algebra at central charge $1-\frac{6(k+1)^2}{k+2}$.
