Abstract:Let H be a Hopf algebra over a base field. If H has an ℕ-filtration such that the associated graded ring is connected graded noetherian and has enough normal elements, then H is Gorenstein. This gives a partial solution to a question of Brown and Brown-Goodearl. As a consequence, every quotient Hopf algebra of a generic quantized coordinate ring of a connected semisimple Lie group is Auslander-Gorenstein and Cohen-Macaulay. The last statement answers a question of Goodearl-Zhang.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a structure theorem for connected graded Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 by claiming the existence of a family of homogeneous generators and a total order on the index set that satisfy some desirable conditions. The approach to the structure theorem is constructive, based on the combinatorial properties of Lyndon words and the standard bracketing on words. As a surprising consequence of the structure theorem, we show that connected graded Hopf algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension over a field of characteristic 0 are all iterated Hopf Ore extensions of the base field. In addition, some keystone facts of connected Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 are observed as corollaries of the structure theorem, without the assumptions of having finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension (or affineness) on Hopf algebras or of that the base field is algebraically closed.

Abstract:We consider $G=Q_8,SD_{16},G_{24},$ and $G_{48}$ as finite subgroups of the Morava stabilizer group which acts on the height $2$ Morava $E$-theory $\mathbf{E}_2$ at the prime $2$. We completely compute the $G$-homotopy fixed point spectral sequences of $\mathbf{E}_2$. Our computation uses recently developed equivariant techniques since Hill, Hopkins, and Ravenel. We also compute the $(*-\sigma_i)$-graded $Q_8$- and $SD_{16}$-homotopy fixed point spectral sequences, where $\sigma_i$ is a non-trivial one-dimensional representation of $Q_8$.

Abstract:Using a geometric argument building on our new theory of graded sheaves, we compute the categorical trace and Drinfel'd center of the (graded) finite Hecke category $\mathsf{H}_W^\mathsf{gr} = \mathsf{Ch}^b(\mathsf{SBim}_W)$ in terms of the category of (graded) unipotent character sheaves, upgrading results of Ben-Zvi-Nadler and Bezrukavninov-Finkelberg-Ostrik. In type $A$, we relate the categorical trace to the category of $2$-periodic coherent sheaves on the Hilbert schemes $\mathsf{Hilb}_n(\mathbb{C}^2)$ of points on $\mathbb{C}^2$ (equivariant with respect to the natural $\mathbb{C}^* \times \mathbb{C}^*$ action), yielding a proof of a conjecture of Gorsky-Negut-Rasmussen which relates HOMFLY-PT link homology and the spaces of global sections of certain coherent sheaves on $\mathsf{Hilb}_n(\mathbb{C}^2)$. As an important computational input, we also establish a conjecture of Gorsky-Hogancamp-Wedrich on the formality of the Hochschild homology of $\mathsf{H}_W^\mathsf{gr}$.

Abstract:In this paper we establish a formula for computing $d_2(sq^i(x))$ where $x$ is a permanent cycle in the $C_2$-equivariant Adams spectral sequence or the motivic Adams spectral sequence over $Spec(\mathbb{R})$. This requires establishing that the Adams towers have an $H_{\infty}$-structure as well as determining the attaching maps for $C_2$-equivariant projective spaces. The attaching maps of $C_2$-equivariant projective spaces can then be used to determine the coefficients of differentials in both the equivariant and motivic case. At the end some sample computations are given.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite group and $V$ be a $G$-representation. We investigate the $RO(G)$-graded Bredon cohomology with constant integral coefficients of the space of ordered configurations in $V$. In the case that $V$ contains a trivial subrepresentation, we show the cohomology is free as a module over the cohomology of a point, and we give a generators-and-relations description of the ring structure. In the case that $V$ does not contain a trivial representation, we give a computation of the module structure that works as long as a certain vanishing condition holds in the Bredon cohomology of a point. We verify this vanishing condition holds in the case that $\dim(V)\geq 3$ and $G$ is any of $C_p$, $C_{p^2}$ ($p$ a prime), or the symmetric group on three letters.

Abstract:We prove that, for any smooth and projective scheme $X$ over a field $k$ of char. $0$, the set of maps from Spec $k$ to $X$ in the $\mathbf{A}^1$-homotopy category of schemes $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbf{A}^1}(k)$ is in bijection with the quotient of $X(k)$ by $R$-equivalence, and is a birational invariant of $X$. This is achieved by establishing a precise relation between the localization of the category of smooth $k$-schemes by birational maps and the category $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbf{A}^1}(k)$, and by applying results of the second named author and R. Sujatha on birational invariants. This gives a new proof of results obtained by A. Asok and F. Morel.

Equivariant cohomology for cyclic groups

Abstract:In this paper, we compute the $RO(C_n)$-graded coefficient ring of equivariant cohomology for cyclic groups $C_n$, in the case of Burnside ring coefficients, and in the case of constant coefficients. We use the invertible Mackey functors under the box product to reduce the gradings in the computation from $RO(C_n)$ to those expressable as combinations of $\lambda^d$ for divisors $d$ of $n$, where $\lambda$ is the inclusion of $C_n$ in $S^1$ as the roots of unity. We make explicit computations for the geometric fixed points for Burnside ring coefficients, and in the positive cone for constant coefficients. The positive cone is also computed for the Burnside ring in the case of prime power order, and in the case of square free order. Finally, we also make computations at non-negative gradings for the constant coefficients.

Abstract:For a commutative ring $R$ with a unit, an $R$-homology rose is a topological space whose homology groups with $R$-coefficients agree with those of a bouquet of cirlces. In this paper, we study some special properties of covering spaces and fundamental groups of $R$-homology roses, from which we obtain some result supporting the Carlsson conjecture on free $(Z_p)^r$ actions. In addition, for a group $G$ and a field $F$, we define an integer called the $F$-gap of $G$, which is an obstruction for $G$ to be realized as the fundamental group of a 2-dimensional $F$-homology rose. Furthermore, we discuss how to search candidates of the counterexamples of Wall's D(2)-problem among $F$-homology roses and $F$-acyclic spaces.

Abstract:We show that at the prime 2, for any height $h$ and any finite subgroup $G \subset \mathbb{G}_h$ of the Morava stabilizer group, the $RO(G)$-graded homotopy fixed point spectral sequence for the Lubin--Tate spectrum $E_h$ has a strong horizontal vanishing line of filtration $N_{h, G}$, a specific number depending on $h$ and $G$. It is a consequence of the nilpotence theorem that such homotopy fixed point spectral sequences all admit strong horizontal vanishing lines at some finite filtration. Here, we establish specific bounds for them. Our bounds are sharp for all the known computations of $E_h^{hG}$. Our approach involves investigating the effect of the Hill--Hopkins--Ravenel norm functor on the slice differentials. As a result, we also show that the $RO(G)$-graded slice spectral sequence for $(N_{C_2}^{G}\bar{v}_h)^{-1}BP^{(\!(G)\!)}$ shares the same horizontal vanishing line at filtration $N_{h, G}$. As an application, we utilize this vanishing line to establish a bound on the orientation order $\Theta(h, G)$, the smallest number such that the $\Theta(h, G)$-fold direct sum of any real vector bundle is $E_h^{hG}$-orientable.

Abstract:Let $Q$ denote the cyclic group of order two. Using the Tate diagram we compute the $RO(Q)$-graded coefficients of Eilenberg-MacLane $Q$-spectra and describe their structure as a module over the coefficients of the Eilenberg-MacLane spectrum of the Burnside Mackey functor. If the underlying Mackey functor is a Green functor, we also infer the multiplicative structure on the $RO(Q)$-graded coefficients.

Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to compute RO(G)-graded cohomology of G-orbits for the group G=Cn$$G=C_n$$, where n is a product of distinct primes. We compute these groups for the constant Mackey functor Z̲$$\underline{\mathbb {Z}}$$ and the Burnside ring Mackey functor A̲$$\underline{A}$$. Among other results, we show that the groups H̲Gα(S0)$$\underline{H}^\alpha _G(S^0)$$ are mostly determined by the fixed point dimensions of the virtual representations α$$\alpha $$, except in the case of A̲$$\underline{A}$$ coefficients when the fixed point dimensions of α$$\alpha $$ have many zeros. In the case of Z̲$$\underline{\mathbb {Z}}$$ coefficients, the ring structure on the cohomology is also described. The calculations are then used to prove freeness results for certain G-complexes.

Abstract:Using an equivariant surgery classification, we compute the $RO(C_3)$-graded Bredon cohomology of all $C_3$-surfaces in constant $\mathbb{Z}/3$-coefficients as modules over the cohomology of a fixed point. We show that the cohomology of a given $C_3$-surface is determined by a handful of topological invariants and is directly determined by the construction of the surface via equivariant surgery.

Hopf formulae for homology of skew braces

Abstract:The variety of skew braces contains several interesting subcategories as subvarieties, as for instance the varieties of radical rings, of groups and of abelian groups. In this article the methods of non-abelian homological algebra are applied to establish some new Hopf formulae for homology of skew braces, where the coefficient functors are the reflectors from the variety of skew braces to each of the three above-mentioned subvarieties. The corresponding central extensions of skew braces are characterized in purely algebraic terms, leading to some new results, such as an explicit Stallings-Stammbach exact sequence associated with any exact sequence of skew braces, and a new result concerning central series.

Abstract:Let $X,Y$ be $(n-1)$-connected finite pointed CW-complexes of dimension at most $n+2$, $n\geq 3$. In this paper we give elementary proofs of the abelian group structure of $[X,Y]$ of homotopy classes of based maps from $X$ to $Y$, which was due to Baues and Schmidt. Furthermore, we determine the explicit generators associated to $[X,Y]$. As an application, we compute certain (sub)groups of self-homotopy equivalences of certain Chang complexes.

Abstract:We prove that the cyclic homology of a saturated $A_\infty$ category admits the structure of a `polarized variation of Hodge structures', building heavily on the work of many authors: the main point of the paper is to present complete proofs, and also explicit formulae for all of the relevant structures. This forms part of a project of Ganatra, Perutz and the author, to prove that homological mirror symmetry implies enumerative mirror symmetry.
