Abstract:In this work we use our previous results on the topological classification of generic singular foliation germs on $(\mathbb C^{2},0)$ to construct complete families: after fixing the semi-local topological invariants we prove the existence of a minimal family of foliation germs that contain all the topological classes and such that any equisingular global family with parameter space an arbitrary complex manifold factorizes through it.

Abstract:We give a complete topological classification of germs of holomorphic foliations in the plane under rather generic conditions. The key point is the introduction of a new topological invariant called monodromy representation. This monodromy contains all the relevant dynamical information, in particular the projective holonomy representation whose topological invariance was conjectured in the eighties by Cerveau and Sad and proved here under mild hypotheses.

Abstract:These lecture notes attempt to invite the reader towards the theory of singular foliations, both smooth and holomorphic. In addition to a systematic review of the foundations, and an attempt to put in order examples and several elementary constructions, we detail several recent tools developed for non-commutative geometry, in particular the holonomy groupoid of Androulidakis and Skandalis and various methods for resolving singularities. We also introduce various homotopic notions, and end with a series of open questions.

Abstract:Topology of the Generic Hamiltonian Dynamical Systems on the Riemann Surfaces given by the real part of the generic holomorphic 1-forms, is studied. Our approach is based on the notion of Transversal Canonical Basis of Cycles (TCB). This approach allows us to present a convenient combinatorial model of the whole topology of the flow, especially effective for g=2. A maximal abelian covering over the Riemann Surface is needed here. The complete combinatorial model of the flow is constructed. It consists of the Plane Diagram and g straight line flows in the 2-tori ''with obstacles''. The Fundamental Semigroup of positive closed paths transversal to foliation, and the topological characteristics of trajectories, are studied. This work contains an improved exposition of the results presented in the authors recent preprint (arXiv <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math.GT/0105338" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math.GT/0105338">math.GT/0105338</a>) and new results calculating all TCB in the 2-torus with obstacle, in terms of Continued Fractions.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a number of results about the topology of the leaves of a closed singular Riemannian foliation $(M,\fol)$. If $M$ is simply connected, we prove that the leaves are finitely covered by nilpotent spaces, and characterize the fundamental group of the generic leaves. If $M$ has virtually nilpotent fundamental group, we prove that the leaves have virtually nilpotent fundamental group as well.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{F}_d(\mathbb{P}^n)$ be the space of all singular holomorphic foliations by curves on $\mathbb{P}^n$ ($n \geq 2$) with degree $d \geq 1.$ We show that there is subset $\mathcal{S}_d(\mathbb{P}^n)$ of $\mathcal{F}_d(\mathbb{P}^n)$ with full Lebesgue measure with the following properties: 1. for every $\mathcal{F} \in \mathcal{S}_d(\mathbb{P}^n),$ all singular points of $\mathcal{F}$ are linearizable hyperbolic. 2. If, moreover, $d \geq 2,$ then every $\mathcal{F}$ does not possess any invariant algebraic curve.

Abstract:In this paper we review some author's results about singular holonomy of singular riemannian foliations with sections (s.r.f.s for short) and also some results of a joint work with Toeben and a joint work with Gorodski. We stress here that the condition that the leaves are compact, used in some of these results, can be replaced by the condition that the leaves are closed embedded. We also briefly recall some of Toeben's results about blow-up of s.r.f.s. Then we use this technique to get conditions under which a holonomy map can be extended to a global isometry.

Abstract:We consider a class of singular foliations in the sense of Androulidakis and Skandalis that we call transverse order $k$ foliations. These have a finite number of leaves: one hypersurface (the singular leaf) together with the components of its complement (open leaves). The positive integer parameter $k$ encodes the "order of tangency" of the leafwise vector fields to $L$. We show that a loop in the singular leaf induces a well-defined holonomy transformation at the level of $(k-1)$-jets. The resulting holonomy invariant can be used to give a complete classification of these foliations and obtain concrete descriptions of their associated groupoids and algebras.

Abstract:A singular foliation is a partition of a manifold into leaves of perhaps varying dimension. Stefan and Sussmann carried out fundamental work on singular foliations in the 1970s. We survey their contributions, show how diffeological objects and ideas arise naturally in this setting, and highlight some consequences within diffeology. We then introduce a definition of transverse equivalence of singular foliations, following Molino's definition for regular foliations. We show that, whereas transverse equivalent singular foliations always have diffeologically diffeomorphic leaf spaces, the converse holds only for certain classes of singular foliations. We finish by showing that the basic cohomology of a singular foliation is invariant under transverse equivalence.

Abstract:We review properties of closed meromorphic $1$-forms and of the foliations defined by them. We present and explain classical results from foliation theory, like index theorems, the existence of separatrices, and resolution of singularities under the lenses of the theory of closed meromorphic $1$-forms and flat meromorphic connections. We apply the theory to investigate the algebraicity separatrices in a semi-global setting (neighborhood of a compact curve contained in the singular set of the foliation), and the geometry of smooth hypersurfaces with numerically trivial normal bundle on compact Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:We study topology of leaves of 1-dimensional singular holomorphic foliations of Stein manifolds. We prove that for a generic foliation all leaves, except for at most countably many, are contractible, the rest are topological cylinders. We show that a generic foliation is complex Kupka-Smale.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the analytic classification of a class of nilpotent singularities of holomorphic foliations in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$, those exhibiting a Poincaré-Dulac type singularity in their reduction process. This analytic classification is based in the holonomy of a certain component of the exceptional divisor. Finally, as a consequence, we show that these singularities exhibit a formal analytic rigidity.

Abstract:The modular class of a regular foliation is a cohomological obstruction to the existence of a volume form transverse to the leaves which is invariant under the flow of the vector fields of the foliation. By drawing on the relationship between Lie algebroids and regular foliations, this paper extends the notion of modular class to the realm of singular foliations. The singularities are dealt with by replacing the singular foliations by any of their universal Lie $\infty$-algebroids, and by picking up the modular class of the latter. The geometric meaning of the modular class of a singular foliation $\mathcal{F}$ is not as transparent as for regular foliations: it is an obstruction to the existence of a universal Lie $\infty$-algebroid of $\mathcal{F}$ whose Berezinian line bundle is a trivial $\mathcal{F}$-module. This paper illustrates the relevance of using universal Lie $\infty$-algebroids to extend mathematical notions from regular foliations to singular ones, thus paving the road to defining other characteristic classes in this way.

Abstract:This is a survey article, with essentially complete proofs, of a series of recent results concerning the geometry of the characteristic foliation on smooth divisors in compact hyperkähler manifolds, starting with work by Hwang-Viehweg, but also covering articles by Amerik-Campana and Abugaliev. The restriction of the holomorphic symplectic form on a hyperkähler manifold $X$ to a smooth hypersurface $D\subset X$ leads to a regular foliation ${\mathcal F}\subset{\mathcal T}_D$ of rank one, the characteristic foliation. The picture is complete in dimension four and shows that the behavior of the leaves of ${\mathcal F}$ on $D$ is determined by the Beauville-Bogomolov square $q(D)$ of $D$. In higher dimensions, some of the results depend on the abundance conjecture for $D$.

Abstract:In this survey paper, we take the viewpoint of polar invariants to the local and global study of non-dicritical holomorphic foliations in dimension two and their invariant curves. It appears a characterization of second type foliations and generalized curve foliations as well as a description of the GSV-index in terms of polar curves. We also interpret the proofs concerning the Poincaré problem with polar invariants.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of Galois holomorphic foliation on the complex projective space as that of foliations whose Gauss map is a Galois covering when restricted to an appropriate Zariski open subset. First, we establish general criteria assuring that a rational map between projective manifolds of the same dimension defines a Galois covering. Then, these criteria are used to give a geometric characterization of Galois foliations in terms of their inflection divisor and their singularities. We also characterize Galois foliations on $\mathbb P^2$ admitting continuous symmetries, obtaining a complete classification of Galois homogeneous foliations.

Abstract:The decomposition of a two dimensional complex germ with non-isolated singularity into semi-algebraic sets is given. This decomposition consists of four classes: Riemannian cones defined over a Seifert fibered manifold, a topological cone over thickened tori endowed with Cheeger-Nagase metric, a topological cone over mapping torus endowed with Hsiang-Pati metric and a topological cone over the tubular neighbourhoods of the link's singularities. In this decomposition there exist semi-algebraic sets that are metrically conical over the manifolds constituting the link. The germ is reconstituted up to bi-Lipschitz equivalence to a model describing its geometric behavior.
