Abstract:We obtain a description of the Fu\v{c}ik spectrum associated to the one-dimensional asymmetric problem with indefinite weights $Lu = am(t)u^+ - bn(t)u^-$ in $]T_1, T_2[$, $u'(T_1) = 0 = u'(T_2)$, where $L$ is a Sturm-Liouville operator. Our approach is based on the shooting method.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the structure of the Fučík spectrum ΠpD/N(a,b) of Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the scalar p-Laplacian with indefinite weights a,b∈L1[0,1]. Besides the trivial horizontal lines and vertical lines, it will be shown that, confined to each quadrant of R2, ΠpD/N(a,b) is made up of zero, an odd number of, or a double sequence of hyperbolic like curves. These hyperbolic like curves are continuous and strictly monotonic, and they have horizontal and vertical asymptotic lines. The number of the hyperbolic like curves is determined by the Dirichlet and Neumann half-eigenvalues of the p-Laplacian with weights a and b. The asymptotic lines will be estimated by using Sturm-Liouville eigenvalues of the p-Laplacian with a weight a or b.
A class of Berezin-type operators on weighted Fock spaces with $A_{\infty}$-type weights

Abstract:Let $0<\alpha,\beta,t<\infty$ and $\mu$ be a positive Borel measure on $\mathbb{C}^n$. We consider the Berezin-type operator $S^{t,\alpha,\beta}_{\mu}$ defined by $$S^{t,\alpha,\beta}_{\mu}f(z):=\left(\int_{\mathbb{C}^n}e^{-\frac{\beta}{2}|z-u|^2}|f(u)|^te^{-\frac{\alpha t}{2}|u|^2}d\mu(u)\right)^{1/t},\quad z\in\mathbb{C}^n.$$ We completely characterize the boundedness and compactness of $S^{t,\alpha,\beta}_{\mu}$ from the weighted Fock space $F^p_{\alpha,w}$ into the Lebesgue space $L^q(wdv)$ for all possible indices, where $w$ is a weight on $\mathbb{C}^n$ that satisfies an $A_{\infty}$-type condition. This solves an open problem raised by Zhou, Zhao and Tang [Banach J. Math. Anal. 18 (2024), Paper No. 20]. As an application, we obtain the description of the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz-type operators acting between weighted Fock spaces induced by $A_{\infty}$-type weights.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the spectrum of the Lame operator L = d(2)/dx(2) - 6P(x + z(0); tau) in L-2(R, C), where P(z; tau) is the Weierstrass elliptic function with periods 1 and tau, and z(0) is an element of C is chosen such that L has no singularities on R. (i) We completely determine the explicit location of intersection points of spectral arcs. (ii) We give a complete picture of the deformation of the spectrum as tau = 1/2 + ib and b > 0 varies. In particular, we show that the spectrum has exactly 9 different types of graphs for different b's, and we also give the explicit range of b for each type of graphs. This solves open problems raised in [17]. (iii) As an application of the spectrum and the deep connection of the Lame equation with the mean field equation from [4], we prove the existence of tau = 1/2 + ib such that the mean field equation Delta u + e(u) = 16 pi delta(0) on the rhombus torus E-tau := C/(Z + Z(tau)) has no even axisymmetric solutions but does have 2 even not-axisymmetric solutions. Abstract:We obtain some results about the spectrum and the upper semi-Fredholm spectrum of weighted composition operators on uniform algebras, assuming that the corresponding map maps the Shilov boundary onto itself. In particular, it follows from our results that in the case of analytic uniform algebras the spectrum is a connected rotation invariant subset of the complex plane, and that the upper semi-Fredholm spectrum is rotation invariant as well.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Fučik spectrum of the problem: (*) ẍ+(λ++q+(t))x++(λ−+q−(t))x−=0 with the 2π-periodic boundary condition, where q±(t) are 2π-periodic. After introducing a rotation number function ρ(λ+, λ−) for (*), we prove using the Hamiltonian structure and the positive homogeneity of (*) that for any positive integer n, the two boundary curves of the domain ρ−1(n/2) in the (λ+, λ−)-plane are Fučik curves of (*). The result obtained in this paper shows that such a spectrum problem is much like that of the higher dimensional Fučik spectrum with the Dirichlet condition. In particular, it remains open if the Fučik spectrum of (*) is composed of only these curves.

Abstract:In this article we propose how to define the Fučik spectra for differential systems in Rnwith jumping nonlinearities. The PropertyP, a generalization of the non-Fučik spectra to positively homogeneous nonautonomous differential systems, is also defined in the most general setting. A quantitative estimate result concerning the parameterized completely continuous, positively homogeneous perturbations of the identity in Banach spaces is given in this article. Such a result is a generalization of one property in the spectrum theory for completely continuous linear operators. Using this estimate result, we will give some significantly improved nonresonance results from the Fučik spectra and PropertyPfor asymptotically positively homogeneous differential systems.

Abstract:We derive a necessary condition for compactness of the weighted $\overline\partial$-Neumann operator on the space $L^2(\mathbb C^n,e^{-\varphi})$, under the assumption that the corresponding weighted Bergman space of entire functions has infinite dimension. Moreover, we compute the essential spectrum of the complex Laplacian for decoupled weights, $\varphi(z) = \varphi_1(z_1) + \dotsb + \varphi_n(z_n)$, and investigate (non-) compactness of the $\overline\partial$-Neumann operator in this case. More can be said if every $\Delta\varphi_j$ defines a nontrivial doubling measure.

Abstract:In this paper we study the Fredholm properties of Toeplitz operators acting on weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_{\nu}(\mathbb{B}^n)$, where $p \in (1,\infty)$ and $\mathbb{B}^n \subset \mathbb{C}^n$ denotes the $n$-dimensional open unit ball. Let $f$ be a continuous function on the Euclidean closure of $\mathbb{B}^n$. It is well-known that then the corresponding Toeplitz operator $T_f$ is Fredholm if and only if $f$ has no zeros on the boundary $\partial\mathbb{B}^n$. As a consequence, the essential spectrum of $T_f$ is given by the boundary values of $f$. We extend this result to all operators in the algebra generated by Toeplitz operators with bounded symbol (in a sense to be made precise down below). The main ideas are based on the work of Suarez et al. and limit operator techniques coming from similar problems on the sequence space $\ell^p(\mathbb{Z})$.

Abstract:We present a complete description on the spectrum and eigenfunctions of the following two point boundary value problem $$(p(x)f')'-(q(x)-\lambda r(x))f=0\;, \;\; 0<x<L \quad ; \quad f'(0)=(\alpha_{1} \lambda + \alpha_{2}) f(0) \quad ; \quad f'(L)=(\beta_{1}\lambda -\beta_{2})f(L), $$ where $\lambda$ and $\alpha_{i}, \beta_{i}$ are spectral and physical parameters. Our survey is focused mainly in the case $\alpha_{1}>0$ and $\beta_{1}<0$, where neither self adjoint operator theorems on Hilbert spaces nor Sturm's comparison results can be used directly. We describe the spectrum and the oscillatory results of the eigenfunctions from a geometrical approach, using a function related to the Prüfer angle. The proofs of the asymptotic results of the eigenvalues and separation theorem of the eigenfunctions are developed through classical second order differential equation tools. Finally, the results on the spectrum of the equation are used for the study of the linear instability of a simple model for the fingering phenomenon on the flooding oil recovery process.

Abstract:For two real numbers $c>0, \alpha> -1,$ we study some spectral properties of the weighted finite bilateral Laplace transform operator, defined over the space $E=L^2(I,\omega_{\alpha}),$ $I=[-1,1],$ $\omega_{\alpha}(x)=(1-x^2)^{\alpha},$ by ${\displaystyle \mathcal L_c^{\alpha} f(x)= \int_I e^{cxy} f(y) \omega_{\alpha}(y)\, dy}.$ In particular, we use a technique based on the Min-Max theorem to prove that the sequence of the eigenvalues of this operator has a super-exponential decay rate to zero. Moreover, we give a lower bound with a magnitude of order $e^c,$ for the largest eigenvalue of the operator $\mathcal L_c^{\alpha}.$ Also, we give some local estimates and bounds of the eigenfunctions $\varphi_{n,c}^{\alpha}$ of $\mathcal L_c^{\alpha}.$ Moreover, we show that these eigenfunctions are good candidates for the spectral approximation of a function that can be written as a weighted finite Laplace transform of an other $L^2(I,\omega_{\alpha})-$function. Finally, we give some numerical examples that illustrate the different results of this work. In particular, we provide an example that illustrate the Laplace based spectral method, for the inversion of the finite Laplace transform.

Abstract:Consider the Schrödinger system { - Δ u + V_1,n u = α Q_n (x)|u|^α - 2 u|v|^β , - Δ v + V_2,n v = β Q_n (x)|u|^α |v|^β - 2 v, u,v ∈ H_0^1 (Ω ), . where Ω ⊂ ℝ N , α, β > 1, α + β < 2* and the spectrum σ (−Δ + V i,n ) ⊂ (0, + ∞), i = 1, 2; Q n is a bounded function and is positive in a region contained in Ω and negative outside. Moreover, the sets Q n > 0 shrink to a point x 0 ∈ Ω as n → +∞. We obtain the concentration phenomenon. Precisely, we first show that the system has a nontrivial solution ( u n , v n ) corresponding to Q n , then we prove that the sequences ( u n ) and ( v n ) concentrate at x 0 with respect to the H 1 -norm. Moreover, if the sets Q n > 0 shrink to finite points and ( u n , v n ) is a ground state solution, then we must have that both u n and v n concentrate at exactly one of these points. Surprisingly, the concentration of u n and v n occurs at the same point. Hence, we generalize the results due to Ackermann and Szulkin [ Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. , 207 , 1075–1089 (2013)].

Abstract:Motivated by extremal problems of weighted Dirichlet or Neumann eigenvalues, we will establish two fundamental results on the dependence of weighted eigenvalues of the one-dimensional p-Laplacian on indefinite integrable weights. One is the continuous differentiability of eigenvalues in weights in the Lebesgue spaces L γ with the usual norms. Another is the continuity of eigenvalues in weights with respect to the weak topologies in L γ spaces. Here 1 ≤ γ ≤ ∞. In doing so, we will give a simpler explanation to the corresponding spectrum problems, with the help of several typical techniques in nonlinear analysis such as the Fréchet derivative and weak* convergence.

Abstract:Fix a metric space $M$ and let $\mathrm{Lip}_0(M)$ be the Banach space of complex-valued Lipschitz functions defined on $M$. A weighted composition operator on $\mathrm{Lip}_0(M)$ is an operator of the kind $wC_f : g \mapsto w \cdot g \circ f$, where $w : M \to \mathbb C$ and $f: M \to M$ are any map. When such an operator is bounded, it is actually the adjoint operator of a so-called weighted Lipschitz operator $w\widehat{f}$ acting on the Lipschitz-free space $\mathcal F(M)$. In this note, we study the spectrum of such operators, with a special emphasize when they are compact. Notably, we obtain a precise description in the non-weighted $w \equiv 1$ case: the spectrum is finite and made of roots of unity.

Abstract:The k-Cauchy–Fueter operators, k=0,1,…, are quaternionic counterparts of the Cauchy–Riemann operator in the theory of several complex variables. The weighted L2 method to solve Cauchy–Riemann equation is applied to find the canonical solution to the non-homogeneous k-Cauchy–Fueter equation in a weighted L2-space, by establishing the weighted L2 estimate. The weighted k-Bergman space is the space of weighted L2 integrable functions annihilated by the k-Cauchy–Fueter operator, as the counterpart of the Fock space of weighted L2-holomorphic functions on Cn. We introduce the k-Bergman orthogonal projection to this closed subspace, which can be nicely expressed in terms of the canonical solution operator, and its matrix kernel function. We also find the asymptotic decay for this matrix kernel function.

Abstract:Under simplified axioms on moduli spaces of pseudo-holomorphic curves, we show that weakly unobstructed Fukaya algebras of Floer-nontrivial Lagrangians in a compact symplectic manifold must have curvature in the spectrum of an operator introduced by Dubrovin, which acts on the big quantum cohomology. We use the example of the complex Grassmannian $\operatorname{Gr}(2,4)$ to illustrate a decoupling phenomenon, where the eigenvalues of finite energy truncations become simple under explicit bulk-deformations.

Perturbation and spectral theory for singular indefinite Sturm-Liouville operators

Abstract:We study singular Sturm-Liouville operators of the form \[ \frac{1}{r_j}\left(-\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}p_j\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}+q_j\right),\qquad j=0,1, \] in $L^2((a,b);r_j)$, where, in contrast to the usual assumptions, the weight functions $r_j$ have different signs near the singular endpoints $a$ and $b$. In this situation the associated maximal operators become self-adjoint with respect to indefinite inner products and their spectral properties differ essentially from the Hilbert space situation. We investigate the essential spectra and accumulation properties of nonreal and real discrete eigenvalues; we emphasize that here also perturbations of the indefinite weights $r_j$ are allowed. Special attention is paid to Kneser type results in the indefinite setting and to $L^1$ perturbations of periodic operators.

Abstract:In this paper we examine the asymptotic structure of the pseudospectrum of the singular Sturm-Liouville operator $L=\partial_x(f\partial_x)+\partial_x$ subject to periodic boundary conditions on a symmetric interval, where the coefficient $f$ is a regular odd function that has only a simple zero at the origin. The operator $L$ is closely related to a remarkable model examined by Davies in 2007, which exhibits surprising spectral properties balancing symmetries and strong non-self-adjointness. In our main result, we derive a concrete construction of classical pseudo-modes for $L$ and give explicit exponential bounds of growth for the resolvent norm in rays away from the spectrum.
