Abstract:We introduce the model-companion of the theory of fields expanded by a unary function for a multiplicative map, which we call ACFH. Among others, we prove that this theory is NSOP$_1$ and not simple, that the kernel of the map is a generic pseudo-finite abelian group. We also prove that if forking satisfies existence, then ACFH has elimination of imaginaries.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce an AEC framework for studying fields with commuting automorphisms. Fields with commuting automorphisms are closely related to difference fields. Some authors define a difference ring (or field) as a ring (or field) together with several commuting endomorphisms, while others only study one endomorphism. Z. Chatzidakis and E. Hrushovski have studied in depth the model theory of ACFA,the model companion of difference fields with one automorphism. Our fields with commuting automorphisms generalize this setting. We have several automorphisms and they are required to commute. Hrushovski has proved that in the case of fields with two or more commuting automorphisms,the existentially closed models do not necessarily form a first order model class. In the present paper, we introduce FCA-classes, an AEC framework for studying the existentially closed models of the theory of fields with commuting <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://automorphisms.We" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> prove that an FCA-class has AP and JEP and thus a monster model, that Galois types coincide with existential types in existentially closed models,that the class is homogeneous,and that there is a version of type amalgamation theorem that allows to combine three types under certain conditions. Finally, we use these results to show that our monster model is a simple homogeneous structure in the sense of S. Buechler and O. Lessman (this is a non-elementary analogue for the classification theoretic notion of a simple first order theory).

Abstract:Generalising the uniform companion for large fields with a single derivation, we construct a theory $\text{UC}_{\mathcal{D}}$ of fields of characteristic $0$ with free operators -- operators determined by a homomorphism from the field to its tensor product with $\mathcal{D}$, a finite-dimensional $\mathbb{Q}$-algebra -- which is the model companion of any theory of a field with free operators whose associated difference field is difference large and model complete. Under the assumption that $\mathcal{D}$ is a local ring, we show that simplicity is transferred from the theory of the underlying field to the theory of the field with operators, and we use this to study the model theory of bounded, PAC fields with free operators.

Abstract:We prove that the (elementary) class of differential-difference fields in characteristic $p>0$ admits a model-companion. In the terminology of Chatzidakis-Pillay, this says that the class of differentially closed fields of characteristic $p$ equipped with a generic differential-automorphism is elementary; i.e., DCF$_p$A exists. Along the way, we provide alternative first-order axiomatisations for DCF (differentially closed fields) and also for DCF$_0$A.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the model-theoretic study of pairs ( K, F ) where K is an algebraically closed field and F is a distinguished subfield of K allowing extra structure. We study the basic model-theoretic properties of those pairs, such as quantifier elimination, model-completeness and saturated models. We also prove some preservation results of classification-theoretic notions such as stability, simplicity, NSOP 1 , and NIP. As an application, we conclude that a PAC field is NSOP 1 iff its absolute Galois group is (as a profinite group).

Abstract:This thesis is a contribution to the model theory of valued fields. We study forking in valued fields and some of their reducts. We focus particularly on pseudo-local fields, the ultraproducts of residue characteristic zero of the p-adic valued fields. First, we look at the value groups of the valued fields we are interested in, the regular ordered Abelian groups. We establish for these ordered groups a geometric description of forking, as well as a full classification of the global extensions of a given type which are non-forking or invariant. Then, we prove an Ax-Kochen-Ershov principle for forking and dividing in expansions of pure short exact sequences of Abelian structures, as studied by Aschenbrenner-Chernikov-Gehret-Ziegler in their article about distality. This setting applies in particular to the leading-term structure of (expansions of) valued fields. Lastly, we give various sufficient conditions for a parameter set in a Henselian valued field of residue characteristic zero to be an extension base. In particular, we show that forking equals dividing in pseudo-local fields of residue characteristic zero. Additionally, we discuss results by Ealy-Haskell-Simon on forking in separated extensions of Henselian valued fields of residue characteristic zero. We contribute to the question in the setting of Abhyankar extensions, where we show that, with some additional conditions, if a type in a pseudo-local field does not fork, then there exists some global invariant Keisler measure whose support contains that type. This behavior is well-known in pseudo-finite fields.

Abstract:We show that C-minimal fields (i.e., C-minimal expansions of ACVF) have the exchange property, answering a question of Haskell and Macpherson. Additionally, we strengthen some theorems of Cubides Kovacsics and Delon on C-minimal fields. First, we show that definably complete C-minimal fields of characteristic 0 have generic differentiability. Second, we show that if the induced structure on the residue field is a pure ACF, then polynomial boundedness holds. In fact, polynomial boundedness can only fail if there are unexpected definable automorphisms of the multiplicative group of the residue field.

Abstract:We show that the generic automorphism is axiomatizable in the green field of Poizat (once Morleyized) as well as in the bad fields that are obtained by collapsing this green field to finite Morley rank. As a corollary, we obtain ‘bad pseudofinite fields’ in characteristic 0. In both cases, we give geometric axioms. In fact, a general framework is presented allowing this kind of axiomatization. We deduce from various constructibility results for algebraic varieties in characteristic 0 that the green and bad fields fall into this framework. Finally, we give similar results for other theories obtained by Hrushovski amalgamation, for example, the free fusion of two strongly minimal theories having the definable multiplicity property. We also close a gap in the construction of the bad field, showing that the codes may be chosen to be families of strongly minimal sets.

Abstract:Let $(A,\mathfrak{m})$ be a \CM\ local ring, then notion of $T$-split sequence was introduced in part-1 of this paper for $\mathfrak{m}$-adic filtration with the help of numerical function $e^T_A$. We have explored the relation between AR-sequences and $T$-split sequences. For a Gorenstein ring $(A,\mathfrak{m})$ we define a Hom-finite Krull-Remak-Schmidt category $\mathcal{D}_A$ as a quotient of the stable category $\CMS(A)$. This category preserves isomorphism, i.e. $M\cong N$ in $\mathcal{D}_A$ if and only if $M\cong N$ in $\CMS(A)$.This article has two objectives; first objective is to extend the notion of $T$-split sequence, and second objective is to explore function $e^T_A$ and $T$-split sequence. When $(A,\mathfrak{m})$ be an \anram\ \CM\ local ring and $I$ be an $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal then we extend the techniques in part-1 of this paper to the integral closure filtration with respect to $I$ and prove a version of Brauer-Thrall-II for a class of such rings.

Abstract:If $C$ is a curve over $\mathbb{Q}$ with genus at least $2$ and $C(\mathbb{Q})$ is empty, then the class of fields $K$ of characteristic 0 such that $C(K) = \varnothing$ has a model companion, which we call $C\mathrm{XF}$. The theory $C\mathrm{XF}$ is not complete, but we characterize the completions. Using $C\mathrm{XF}$, we produce examples of fields with interesting combinations of properties. For example, we produce (1) a model-complete field with unbounded Galois group, (2) an infinite field with a decidable first-order theory that is not ``large'' in the sense of Pop, (3) a field that is algebraically bounded but not ``very slim'' in the sense of Junker and Koenigsmann, and (4) a pure field that is strictly NSOP$_4$, i.e., NSOP$_4$ but not NSOP$_3$. Lastly, we give a new construction of fields that are virtually large but not large.

Abelian varieties over finite fields with commutative endomorphism algebra: theory and algorithms

Abstract:We give a categorical description of all abelian varieties with commutative endomorphism ring over a finite field with $q=p^a$ elements in a fixed isogeny class in terms of pairs consisting of a fractional $\mathbb Z[\pi,q/\pi]$-ideal and a fractional $W\otimes_{\mathbb Z_p} \mathbb Z_p[\pi,q/\pi]$-ideal, with $\pi$ the Frobenius endomorphism and $W$ the ring of integers in an unramified extension of $\mathbb Q_p$ of degree $a$. The latter ideal should be compatible at $p$ with the former and stable under the action of a semilinear Frobenius (and Verschiebung) operator; it will be the Dieudonné module of the corresponding abelian variety. Using this categorical description we create effective algorithms to compute isomorphism classes of these objects and we produce many new examples exhibiting exotic patterns.

Abstract:We investigate the model completeness of the theory of a mixed characteristic henselian valued field with finite ramification relative to the residue field and value group. We address the case in which the valued field has a value group with finite spines, and the case in which the value group is elementarily equivalent to the infinite lexicographic sum of $\mathbb{Z}$ with a minimal positive element. In both cases, we find a one-sorted language in which the theory of the valued field is model complete, if the theory of the residue field is model complete in the language of rings.

Abstract:We prove a strong form of model completenes for expansions of the field of real numbers by (the real and imaginary parts of) the modular function J, by the modular forms $E_4$ and $E_6$ and quasimodular form $E_2$ defined in the usual fundamental domain, and the restricted sine function and the (unrestricted) exponential function. This is done using ideas of Peterzil and Starchenko's paper \cite{peterzil-starchenko-wp2004} on the uniform definability of $\wp$ function in $\mathbb{R}_{\mathit{an}}$ (and of the modular function $J$). In the conclusion we pose some open problems related to this work.

Abstract:We show that if $M$ is a countable transitive model of ZF and if $a,b$ are reals not in $M$, then there is a $G$ generic over $M$ such that $b \in L[a,G]$. We then present several applications such as the following: if $J$ is any countable transitive model of ZFC and $M \not\subseteq J$ is another countable transitive model of ZFC of the same ordinal height $\alpha$, then there is a forcing extension $N$ of $J$ such that $M \cup N$ is not included in any transitive model of ZFC of height $\alpha$. Also, assuming $0^\#$ exists, letting $S$ be the set of reals generic over $L$, although $S$ is disjoint from the Turing cone above $0^\#$, we have that for any non-constructible real $a$, $\{ a \oplus s : s \in S \}$ is cofinal in the Turing degrees.

Abstract:We show that, in the model constructed by adding sufficiently many Cohen reals, derived limits are additive on a large class of systems. This generalizes the work of Jeffrey Bergfalk, Michael Hru\v sák, and Chris Lambie-Hanson which focuses on the system $\mathbf{A}$. In the process, we isolate a partition principle responsible for the vanishing of derived limits on collections of Cohen reals and reframe the propagating trivializations result of as a theorem of ZFC. In light of results of the author, Jeffrey Bergfalk, and Justin Moore in \cite{ASH}, the additivity of derived limits also implies additivity results for strong homology.
