Abstract:We introduce a new norm (say -norm) on the space of all bounded linear operators defined on a normed linear space . We explore various properties of the -norm. In addition, we study several equalities and inequalities of the -norm of operators on As an application, we obtain an upper bound for the numerical radius of product of operators, which improves a well-known upper bound of the numerical radius for sectorial matrices. We present the -norm of operators by using the extreme points of the unit ball of the corresponding spaces. Furthermore, we define a geometric constant (say -index) associated with and study properties of the -index. In particular, we obtain the exact value of the -index for some polyhedral spaces and complex Hilbert space. Finally, we study the -index of -sum of normed linear spaces.

Abstract:Several unitarily invariant norm inequalities and numerical radius inequalities for Hilbert space operators are studied. We investigate some necessary and sufficient conditions for the parallelism of two bounded operators. For a finite rank operator $A,$ it is shown that \begin{eqnarray*} \|A\|_{p} &\leq &\left(\textit{rank} \, A\right)^{1/{2p}} \|A\|_{2p} \,\, \leq \,\, \left(\textit{rank} \, A\right)^{{(2p-1)}/{2p^2}} \|A\|_{2p^2}, \quad \textit{for all $p\geq 1 $} \end{eqnarray*} where $\|\cdot\|_p$ is the Schatten $p$-norm. If $\{ \lambda_n(A) \}$ is a listing of all non-zero eigenvalues (with multiplicity) of a compact operator $A$, then we show that \begin{eqnarray*} \sum_{n} \left|\lambda_n(A)\right|^{p} &\leq& \frac12 \| A\|_{ p}^{ p} + \frac12 \| A^2\|_{p/2}^{p/2}, \quad \textit{for all $p\geq 2$} \end{eqnarray*} which improves the classical Weyl's inequality $\sum_{n} \left|\lambda_n(A)\right|^{p} \leq \| A\|_{ p}^{ p}$ [Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA 1949]. For an $n\times n$ matrix $A$, we show that the function $p\to n^{-{1}/{p}}\|A\|_p$ is monotone increasing on $p\geq 1,$ complementing the well known decreasing nature of $p\to \|A\|_p.$ \indent As an application of these inequalities, we provide an upper bound for the sum of the absolute values of the zeros of a complex polynomial. As another application we provide a refined upper bound for the energy of a graph $G$, namely, $\mathcal{E}(G) \leq \sqrt{2m\left(\textit{rank Adj(G)} \right)},$ where $m$ is the number of edges, improving on a bound by McClelland in $1971$.

This result generalizes the results in \cite{ONIR} and gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture in \cite{OACRT} for all $s\geq2$ and for all $p>0$ and $r\geq1$ such that $rp\geq1$ and $t=\frac{1}{2}$. This result also leads directly to Dinh, Ahsani, and Tam's conjecture in \cite{GAI} and proves Audenaert's result in \cite{ANIFP}.

Abstract:The total mean curvature functional for submanifolds into the Riemannian product space $\mathbb{S}^n\times\mathbb{R}$ is considered and its first variational formula is presented. Later on, two second order differential operators are defined and a nice integral inequality relating both of them is proved. Finally we prove our main result: an integral inequality for closed stationary $\mathcal{H}$-surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^n\times\mathbb{R}$, characterizing the cases where the equality is attained.

Abstract:International Journal of Mathematics, Ahead of Print. Finding new bounds for norms and the numerical radius of certain matrix forms is a renowned topic that has attracted numerous researchers. In this paper, we show some new bounds for unitarily invariant norms and the numerical radius of certain matrix forms that involve products of matrices and sums of products. New arithmetic-geometric mean-type inequalities and a refinement of the celebrated Cauchy–Schwarz inequality are shown among the obtained results. Our results are compared with those in the literature through numerical examples and rigorous approaches.

Abstract:In this note, we study a question introduced by Bourin \cite{2009Matrix} and partially solve the question of Bourin. In fact, for t\in[0,\frac{1}{4}]\cup[\frac{3}{4},1], we show that |||x^{t}y^{1-t}+y^{t}x^{1-t}|||\leq|||x+y|||, where x,y\in\mathbb{M}_{n}(\mathbb{C})^+ and \||\cdot\|| is the unitarily invariant norm. Moreover, we prove that the above inequality holds on noncommutative fully symmetric spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two families of sharp geometric inequalities for closed hypersurfaces in space forms or other warped product manifolds. Both families of inequalities compare three distinct geometric quantities. The first family concerns the $k$-th boundary momentum, area, and weighted volume, and has applications to Weinstock-type inequalities for Steklov or Wentzell eigenvalues on star-shaped mean convex domains. This generalizes the main results of [12]. The second family involves a weighted $k$-th mean curvature integral and two distinct quermassintegrals and extends the authors' recent work [33] with G. Wheeler and V.-M. Wheeler.

Abstract:We introduce the symmetric-Radon-Nikodým property (sRN property) for finitely generated s-tensor norms $\beta$ of order $n$ and prove a Lewis type theorem for s-tensor norms with this property. As a consequence, if $\beta$ is a projective s-tensor norm with the sRN property, then for every Asplund space $E$, the canonical map $\widetilde{\otimes}_{\beta}^{n,s} E' \to \Big(\widetilde{\otimes}_{\beta'}^{n,s} E \Big)'$ is a metric surjection. This can be rephrased as the isometric isomorphism $\mathcal{Q}^{min}(E) = \mathcal{Q}(E)$ for certain polynomial ideal $\Q$. We also relate the sRN property of an s-tensor norm with the Asplund or Radon-Nikodým properties of different tensor products. Similar results for full tensor products are also given. As an application, results concerning the ideal of $n$-homogeneous extendible polynomials are obtained, as well as a new proof of the well known isometric isomorphism between nuclear and integral polynomials on Asplund spaces.

Abstract:We develop a new refinement of the Kato's inequality and using this refinement we obtain several upper bounds for the numerical radius of a bounded linear operator as well as the product of operators, which improve the well known existing bounds. Further, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the positivity of $2\times 2$ certain block matrices and using this condition we deduce an upper bound for the numerical radius involving a contraction operator. Furthermore, we study the Schatten $p$-norm inequalities for the sum of two $n\times n$ complex matrices via singular values and from the inequalities we obtain the $p$-numerical radius and the classical numerical radius bounds. We show that for every $p>0$, the $p$-numerical radius $w_p(\cdot): \mathcal{M}_n(\mathbb C)\to \mathbb R$ satisfies $ w_p(T) \leq \frac12 \sqrt{\left\| |T|^{2(1-t)}+|T^*|^{2(1-t)} \right\|^{} \, \big \||T|^{2t}+|T^*|^{2t} \big\|_{p/2}^{} } $ for all $t\in [0,1]$. Considering $p\to \infty$, we get a nice refinement of the well known classical numerical radius bound $w(T) \leq \sqrt{\frac12 \left\| T^*T+TT^* \right \|}.$ As an application of the Schatten $p$-norm inequalities we develop a bound for the energy of graph. We show that $ \mathcal{E}(G) \geq \frac{2m}{ \sqrt{ \max_{1\leq i \leq n} \left\{ \sum_{j, v_i \sim v_j}d_j\right\}} },$ where $\mathcal{E}(G)$ is the energy of a simple graph $G$ with $m$ edges and $n$ vertices $v_1,v_2,\ldots,v_n$ such that degree of $v_i$ is $d_i$ for each $i=1,2,\ldots,n.$

Abstract:In this paper, we present some weighted Hölder-type inequalities for N −tuple of n×n complex matrices, with applications that include refined bounds for the norm of the sum of two matrices, the numerical radius of a matrix and the numerical radius for the product of two matrices. The relation with the existing literature will be discussed, where some results are proven to be improvements of celebrated results in the literature. Further, numerical examples are given to support the significance of other results.

Abstract:For a normed linear space $(X,|\cdot|)$ and $p>0$ we characterize all $n$-tuples $(\mu_1,...,\mu_n)\in\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for which the generalized triangle inequality of the second type $$\|x_1+...+x_n\|^p\leq\frac{|x_1|^p}{\mu_1}+...+\frac{|x_n|^p}{\mu_n}$$ holds for any $x_1,...,x_n\in X$. We also characterize $(\mu_1,...,\mu_n)\in\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for which the reverse of the inequality above holds.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate the tensor inequalities in the tensor t-product formalism. The inequalities involving tensor power are proved to hold similarly as standard matrix scenarios. We then focus on the tensor norm inequalities. The well-known arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, H{\" o}lder inequality, and Minkowski inequality are generalized to tensors. Abstract:In this paper, we apply the so-called Alexandrov-Bakelman-Pucci (ABP) method to establish some geometric inequalities. We first prove a logarithmic Sobolev inequality for closed $n$-dimensional minimal submanifolds $\Sigma$ of $\mathbb S^{n+m}$. As a consequence, it recovers the classical result that $|\mathbb S^n| \leq |\Sigma|$ for $m = 1,2$. Next, we prove a Sobolev-type inequality for positive symmetric two-tensors on smooth domains in $\mathbb R^n$ which was established by D. Serre when the domain is convex. In the last application of the ABP method, we formulate and prove an inequality related to quermassintegrals of closed hypersurfaces of the Euclidean space.

Abstract:We prove a family of sharp multilinear integral inequalities on real spheres involving functions that possess some symmetries that can be described by annihilation by certain sets of vector fields. The Lebesgue exponents involved are seen to be related to the combinatorics of such sets of vector fields. Moreover we derive some Euclidean Brascamp--Lieb inequalities localized to a ball of radius $R$, with a blow-up factor of type $R^\delta$, where the exponent $\delta>0$ is related to the aforementioned Lebesgue exponents, and prove that in some cases $\delta$ is optimal.
