Abstract:Recently, a robust $d$-wave superconductivity has been unveiled in the ground state of the 2D $t$-$t'$-$J$ model -- with both nearest-neighbor ($t$) and next-nearest-neighbor ($t'$) hoppings -- through the density matrix renormalization group calculations in the ground state. In this study, we exploit the state-of-the-art thermal tensor network approach to accurately simulate the finite-temperature electron states of the $t$-$t'$-$J$ model on cylinders with widths up to $W=6$. Our analysis suggests that in the dome-like superconducting phase, the $d$-wave pairing susceptibility exhibits a divergent behavior with $\chi_\textrm{SC} \propto 1/T^\alpha$ below the onset temperature $T_c^*$. Near the optimal doping, $T_c^*$ reaches its highest value of about $0.05 t$ ($\equiv 0.15 J$). Above $T_c^*$ yet below a higher crossover temperature $T^*$, the magnetic susceptibility is suppressed, and the Fermi surface also exhibits node-antinode structure, resembling the pseudogap behaviors observed in cuprates. Our unbiased and accurate thermal tensor network calculations obtain the phase diagram of the $t$-$t'$-$J$ model with $t'/t>0$, shedding light on the $d$-wave superconducting and pseudogap phases in the enigmatic cuprate phase diagram.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is whether there is a robust \(d\)-wave superconducting state and its associated pseudogap behavior in the two - dimensional \(t - t'\)-\(J\) model, especially at a finite temperature. Specifically, the researchers used the advanced thermal tensor network method to simulate a system with a width of \(W = 6\) on a cylindrical geometry to explore the electronic states at different doping levels and temperatures. The key issues they focused on are: 1. **Existence of the superconducting phase**: At a finite temperature, can a \(d\)-wave superconducting phase similar to that at zero temperature be observed, and what are the specific characteristics of this phase? In particular, does the superconducting pairing susceptibility \(\chi_{\text{SC}}\) show a power - law divergence behavior with temperature \(T\), that is, \(\chi_{\text{SC}}\propto1/T^{\alpha}\), and what is the starting temperature \(T_c^*\) of this behavior? 2. **Confirmation of the pseudogap phase**: Above the superconducting phase, is there a pseudogap phase similar to that in copper - based superconductors, which is characterized by the suppression of the susceptibility \(\chi_m\) and the appearance of a nodal - antinodal structure on the Fermi surface? If it exists, how does the boundary temperature \(T^*\) of this phase change with the doping level? 3. **Establishment of the phase diagram**: Through the above analysis, construct the phase diagram of the \(t - t'\)-\(J\) model at different doping levels and temperatures, reveal the distribution ranges of the \(d\)-wave superconducting phase and the pseudogap phase, and the relationships between these phases and other possible normal states. The researchers hope that through the answers to these questions, they can provide new theoretical bases and technical means for understanding the complex phase diagrams in high - temperature superconductors, especially copper - based superconductors. This will not only help to deepen the understanding of strongly correlated electron systems but also provide an important reference for experimental research.
