Abstract:Introduction: A challenge in phonosurgery is achieving good vocal quality with minimal vocal fold fibrosis. Fibrin glue can be applied to minimize fibrosis; however, its use in the larynx is based primarily on clinical experience, particularly in extensive lesions. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of application of fibrin glue on collagen concentration at the late phase of the healing process after detaching a pedicled flap of the vocal fold cover in rabbits. Methods: In this prospective animal study, twelve adult male rabbits underwent laryngeal microsurgery, in which an incision was made along the entire length of both vocal folds, followed by extensive mucosal detachment and section of the incision ends. Fibrin glue was applied in the left vocal fold, and the mucosa was repositioned. In the right vocal fold, the mucosa was repositioned without treatment with fibrin glue. After 3-months, the rabbits were euthanized. Histological analyses were performed, and the data collected were subjected to statistical analysis. Results: Vocal folds treated with fibrin glue presented higher collagen concentration in Masson trichrome staining and significantly higher (p < 0.05) collagen concentration in picrosirius red staining compared to control vocal folds. Conclusion: Treatment with fibrin glue led to greater vocal fold fibrogenesis in the present study. Nonetheless, further studies are necessary to determine the prophylactic effect of sealants in laryngeal surgeries that require extensive detachment of the vocal fold cover.

Abstract:Abstract : This report summarizes the development of a robotic system designed to assist aircraft inspectors by remotely deploying non-destructive inspection (NDI) sensors and acquiring, processing, and storing inspection data. Carnegie Mellon University studied the task 9f aircraft inspection, compiled the functional requirements for an automated system to inspect skin fastener rows, and developed a conceptual design of an inspection robot. A prototype of the robotic inspection system (the Automated Nondestructive Inspector or ANDI) was developed. The first phase of system development resulted in a laboratory system that demonstrated the abilities to adhere to the surface of an aircraft panel and deploy a standard eddy-current sensor. The second phase of development included enhancing the mechanics, adding video cameras to the robot for navigation, and adding an on-board computer for low-level task sequencing. The second-phase system was subsequently demonstrated at the FAA's Aging Aircraft NDI Validation Center (AANC). During the final phase of development, emphasis was placed on the enhancement of the robot's navigational system through automated recognition of image features captured by the navigation cameras. A significant development effort remains to be accomplished before this robotic inspection technology is suitable for operational deployment. Outstanding development issues include: (1) reducing the weight of the robot so that it is more comfortable to lift and position on the aircraft; (2) improving the mechanical reliability and speed of the system; (3) minimizing the scratching of the skin surface by the suction cups and eddy-current sensors; (4) reduction or elimination of the umbilical cable; and (5) automation of the manually controlled operations. To commercialize the technology, a new mechanical system would need to be designed and built incorporating the lessons of this work.

Abstract:Objectives: Vocal fold (VF) scarring, manifested by increased collagen, decreased glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), and disrupted elastic fibers, remains a negative consequence of VF injury or resection. The objective of this study is to compare four reconstructive options after Vf mucosal resection in rabbits. A Cell-Based Outer Vocal fold Replacement (COVR) using human adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hASCs) in fibrin scaffold is directly compared with a decellularized scaffold implant, hASC injection, and resection alone without reconstruction. The primary hypothesis is that the cells-in-scaffold construct better reconstitutes the VF structure than either cells or scaffold alone, or than healing by secondary intention.Methods: A total of49 rabbits received bilateral VF cordectomy, followed by either COVR implant, decellularized scaffold implant, hASC injection, or no reconstruction (injured control group). Larynges were harvested after 6 weeks.Results: Histology demonstrated greater lamina propria thickness, less collagen deposition, and more GAGs in COVR animals versus all other treatment groups. Evidence of persistent human cells was found in about half of the cell-treated animals. RNA levels of fibrosis pathway and macrophage phenotype markers were statistically unchanged among treatment groups at 6 weeks.Conclusion: These data support the efficacy of COVR implantation in restoring VF microstructure in rabbits. The intact COVR was required; isolated components of decellularized scaffold or injected hASC still produced histologic scarring. We propose that the unique bilayered cell structure within fibrin enables controlled matrix remodeling to minimize wound contraction and fibrosis, and to promote GAG deposition.Level of Evidence: Basic science study.

The use of commercial fibrin glue in dermal replacement material reduces angiogenic and lymphangiogenic gene and protein expression in vitro

Abstract:Background: Commercial fibrin glue is increasingly finding its way into clinical practice in surgeries to seal anastomosis, and initiate hemostasis or tissue repair. Human biological glue is also being discussed as a possible cell carrier. To date, there are only a few studies addressing the effects of fibrin glue on the cell-molecular level. This study examines the effects of fibrin glue on angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) with a focus on gene and protein expression in scaffolds regularly used for tissue engineering approaches. Methods: Collagen-based dermal regeneration matrices (DRM) were seeded with human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs), or adipose-derived stem cells (ASC) and fixed with or without fibrin glue according to the experimental group. Cultures were maintained for 1 and 7 days. Finally, angiogenic and lymphangiogenic gene and protein expression were measured with special regard to subtypes of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and corresponding receptors using Multiplex-qPCR and ELISA assays. In addition, the hypoxia-induced factor 1-alpha (HIF1a) mediated intracellular signaling pathways were included in assessments to analyze a hypoxic encapsulating effect of fibrin polymers. Results: All cell types reacted to fibrin glue application with an alteration of gene and protein expression. In particular, vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGFB), vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC), vascular endothelial growth receptor 1 (VEGFR1/FLT1), vascular endothelial growth receptor 2 (VEGFR2/KDR), vascular endothelial growth receptor 3 (VEGFR3/FLT4) and Prospero Homeobox 1 (PROX1) were depressed significantly depending on fibrin glue. Especially short-term fibrin effect led to a continuous downregulation of respective gene and protein expression in HUVECs, LECs, and ASCs. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate the impact of fibrin glue application in dermal regeneration with special regard to angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. In particular, a short fibrin treatment of 24 hours led to a decrease in gene and protein levels of LECS, HUVECs, and ASCs. In contrast, the long-term application showed less effect on gene and protein expressions. Therefore, this work demonstrated the negative effects of fibrin-treated cells in tissue engineering approaches and could affect wound healing during dermal regeneration.
Characterization of extracellular matrix proteins during wound healing in the lamina propria of vocal fold in a canine model: a long-term and consecutive study

Abstract:The characterization of vocal fold wound healing can be reflected by the changes of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins in the lamina propria. Although the expression of ECM proteins after vocal fold injury has been widely studied, such observations have lacked time continuity and integrity of marker proteins. In this study, we observed the morphology of injured vocal folds in a canine model. We used immunofluorescence staining to evaluate the expression and distribution of ECM proteins, such as collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, decorin and fibronectin, from 15 days to 6 months after injury. The results showed that large amounts of ECM proteins were secreted 15-40 days after injury. Collagen and fibronectin secretion increased significantly, and were disorderly deposited. The secretion of decorin and elastin increased slightly, while hyaluronic acid decreased. The 15-40 day post-injury period may be the critical intervention stage in wound healing of vocal folds. From 3 to 6 months after injury, the secretion of ECM proteins declined. However, collagen and fibronectin secretion were still significantly higher than normal with irregular arrangement, while the secretion of elastin, hyaluronic acid and decorin decreased significantly at 6 months. This led to vocal fold inelasticity and stiffness, which required effective long-term interventions to treat scar formation.
Fibrin as a Tissue Adhesive and Scaffold with an Angiogenic Agent (FGF-1) to Enhance Burn Graft Healing In Vivo and Clinically

Abstract:There is a need for a strategy to reduce scarring in meshed skin graft healing leading to a better cosmetic result without a significant increase in cost. The strategy in this paper is to increase the closure rate of a meshed skin graft to reduce scarring, which should also decrease the infection rate. Specifically, we used fibrin glue to attach all parts of the graft to the wound bed and added in an angiogenic growth factor and made the fibrin porous to further help the growth of blood vessels from the wound bed into the graft. There was a 10-day animal study and a one-month clinical study. Neither making the fibrin porous or adding an angiogenic agent (i.e., fibroblast growth factor-1 (FGF-1)) seemed to make a significant improvement in vivo or clinically. The use of fibrin on a meshed skin graft appears to speed up the regenerative healing rate leading to less scarring in the holes in the mesh. It appears to shorten the healing time by five days and keep the tissue stiffness close to normal levels vs. the doubling of the stiffness by the controls. A larger clinical study, however, is needed to definitively prove this benefit as well as the mechanism for this improvement.

Abstract:Objectives: Auricular cartilage graft has a wide range of applications in plastic and reconstructive surgery. However, there is still a risk of absorption of the grafts over time. Intrinsic postauricular fascia (IPF) with a rich vascular network may play an important role in the nutrition and repair of auricular cartilage. This study aimed to investigate the effect of IPF on the survival viability of free auricular cartilage grafts. Methods: 24 auricular cartilages were obtained from 6 New Zealand white rabbits which were divided into the cartilage-fascia composite graft group (FC group, n=12) and the cartilage without fascia group (C group, n=12). Two groups of cartilage were implanted into each side of the subcutaneous pocket of the rabbit’s dorsum. The rabbits were sacrificed after 3 months and all cartilage grafts were obtained. Macroscopic observation, histopathological staining, and biomechanical testing were performed on all specimens. Results: There were significant differences between the 2 groups regarding proliferating chondrocytes, apoptotic chondrocytes, vascularization, and matrix collagen. Compared to the auricular cartilage grafts without fascia, the auricular cartilage-fascia composite grafts had more neovascularization, proliferative chondrocytes, and type II collagen, with a homogeneous cartilage matrix and no obvious areas of heterogeneous staining. Young’s modulus and ultimate tensile strength of cartilage were reduced in both groups compared to pretransplantation, but the composite graft group was superior to the fascia-free group. Conclusions: Auricular cartilage-fascial composite tissue free graft could improve cartilage survival outcomes with higher viability and mechanical properties.

Effect of a Single Injection of Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor into the Vocal Folds: A 36-Month Clinical Study

Abstract:Objective: A single injection of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) into the vocal folds of patients with glottal insufficiency has been shown to be effective for a few years. However, the long-term therapeutic effect of a single injection of bFGF into the vocal folds has yet to be demonstrated. In this study, the therapeutic effect of a single injection of bFGF into the vocal folds was investigated over several years by monitoring patients for 36 months following this treatment. Methods: Nineteen patients with glottal insufficiency received injections of bFGF diluted to 20 μg/mL in the superficial layer of the lamina propria of the bilateral vocal folds. The following parameters were evaluated at preinjection baseline and 6, 12, 18, 24, and 36 months later, and statistical comparisons were performed. The parameters evaluated were: the Grade, Rough, Breathy, Asthenic, and Strained (GRBAS) scale score; maximum phonation time; acoustic analysis; and glottal wave analysis (GWA) and kymograph edge analysis (KEA) using high-speed digital imaging (HSDI). The amplitude perturbation quotient (APQ) and period perturbation quotient (PPQ) were measured by acoustic analysis. The mean minimum glottal area during vocalization and mean minimum distance between the vocal folds were measured by GWA. The amplitudes of the bilateral vocal folds were measured by KEA. Results: Postinjection, the GRBAS scale score decreased from 6 months after injection, and maximum phonation time was prolonged. The mean minimum glottal area during vocalization and the mean minimum distance between the vocal folds calculated by GWA of HSDI decreased significantly after 6 months. These effects persisted until 36 months postinjection. APQ and PPQ derived from acoustic analysis tended to decrease, but not significantly. There was no clear change in the amplitudes of the bilateral vocal folds calculated by KEA of HSDI before and after injection. Conclusions: These results suggest that the effects of a single injection of bFGF into the vocal folds persist for 36 months.

Abstract:This animal experiment was aimed to apply fibrin in facial nerve repair and to quest for technical improvements in facial surgery. In each of 15 healthy large ear white rabbits, a unilateral 5 mm intratemporal facial nerve gap was created, the proximal and distal stumps were inserted into chitin tube, 1 ml autologous fibrin glue was applied around the anastomotic zone, and no suture was employed. At 3 months and 5 months after opertion, electrophysioligical study was performed. Compared with normal nerves, the regenerating nerves in both the chitin tube bridged group and the perineurium suture group had longer incubation period, lower amplitude, slower nerve-muscle conduction velocity at 3 months postoperatively. The differences were distinctly significant (P < 0.01). Although being decreased at 5 months after operation, the differences were still statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences between the chitin tube bridged group and perineurium suture group at 3 months and 5 months, respectively. The study suggests that facial nerve repair using fibrin glue and chitin tube has the advantages of being easier,faster and more stable.
Evaluation of Autologous Fascia Implantation With Controlled Release of Fibroblast Growth Factor for Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Paralysis Due to Long-term Denervation

Abstract:Objectives: Paralyzed tissue due to long-term denervation is resistant to many treatments because it induces irreversible histological changes and disorders of deglutition or phonation. We sought to determine the effect of autologous transplantation of fascia into the vocal fold (ATFV) with controlled release of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on long-term unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP). Methods: Unilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) section was performed on 20 rats. Five rats were implanted with autologous fascia only (fascia group), and 10 rats were implanted with autologous fascia and a gelatin hydrogel sheet with 1 μg (1 μg bFGF + fascia group) or 0.1 μg (0.1 μg bFGF + fascia group) of bFGF 4 months after RLN section. We evaluated the normalized glottal gap and laryngeal volume and histological changes 3 months after implantation. Results: The normalized glottal gap was significantly reduced in the 3 fascia implantation groups. Normalized laryngeal volume, fat volume, and lateral thyroarytenoid muscle volume were significantly increased in the 2 fascia implantation with bFGF groups. Conclusions: The ATFV with controlled release of bFGF repaired the glottal gap and laryngeal volume after RLN section and may reduce the occurrence of aspiration and hoarseness. We speculate that this treatment improves laryngeal function in long-term RLN denervation.

Abstract:Objective To improve lateral thyroarytenoid (TA) muscle atrophy after laryngeal paralysis, reconstruction of the vascular network of the atrophied muscle is necessary. We therefore evaluated whether the controlled release of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) with autologous fascia implantation could affect vascular reconstruction in the lateral TA muscle. Study Design Animal experiment. Setting Laboratory. Methods Unilateral laryngeal paralysis was induced in 20 rats. The rats were implanted with autologous fascia and a gelatin hydrogel sheet with or without 1 μg of bFGF (fascia and bFGF + fascia groups; n = 5 each) and with only a gelatin hydrogel sheet with bFGF (bFGF group: n = 5). Another group remained untreated (n = 5) at 4 months after paralysis. At 3 months since transplantation, intra- and intergroup comparisons of the muscle volumes and total area of blood vessels in the lateral TA muscle were performed. Results When compared with the untreated group, the bFGF + fascia group showed a significant increase in muscle volume ( P =.0008) and vascular area ( P =.0002) in the lateral TA muscle, whereas the other 2 treated groups demonstrated an insufficient effect. Conclusion bFGF + fascia implantation showed histologic improvement in severe laryngeal paralysis. We demonstrated that the decrease in lateral TA muscle mass after paralysis might be countered by the reconstruction of the vascular network. Our findings indicate that hypovascular and denervated areas of the laryngeal muscle can be regenerated by the implantation of growth factors and scaffolds with surgical stress. Level of evidence 5.

Abstract:Few studies have focused on the toxicological risks of dairy fat intake. A standard dairy fat (SDF) with a 70% SFA content and a naturally enriched dairy fat (EDF) in vaccenic, rumenic and α-linolenic acids and low in SFA (54%) have been examined in a 4-week repeated dose oral toxicity study as a daily dose of 2000 mg/kg bw by gavage in rats. Comparisons were established with a third group of rats (control) which did not receive fat administration. Both fats were well tolerated, and no adverse events or mortality were observed during the treatment nor after a 2-week observation period. EDF and SDF did not cause significant differences with respect to a control group in body weight gain, food consumption, clinical observations, organ weight ratios, histopathological findings and most of the hematological and biochemical parameters including total cholesterol and cholesterol fractions in plasma. In rats treated with SDF, a significant increase of triglycerides was observed as compared to the control group. By contrast, in rats treated with EDF, a significant decrease in triglycerides was detected. EDF orally administered to rats was safe, and no treatment-related toxicity was detected. The results also suggest that EDF could protect against the increase of triglyceride concentrations in plasma.
Perivenous Application of Fibrin Glue Prevents the Early Injury of Jugular Vein Graft to Arterial Circulation in Rabbits

Abstract:Background Placement of an external support has been reported to prevent intimal hyperplasia of vein grafts. However, it is limited by potential complications. In the present study, we investigated the effect of fibrin glue on preventing vein graft failure as perivenous application.Methods Twenty-four rabbits were divided into non-supported group (n=12) and fibrin glue group (n=12). All animals underwent unilateral jugular vein into common carotid artery interposition grafting and then fibrin glue was applied as perivenous support. Samples of tissues were harvested after 4 weeks.Results The vein grafts with fibrin glue demonstrated a statistically significant decrease in proliferating cell nuclear antigen in the medial/intimal region [13.38% (11.26%-15.11%)] compared with non-supported vein grafts [31.22% (27.15%-35.98%)] (P<0.001). Light microscopy showed remarkable attenuation of endothelial cell loss and numerous microvessels in neoadventitia in the fibrin glue group compared with the non-supported group. The smooth muscle cells migrated into adventitia significantly in fibrin glue group, whereas the smooth muscle cells migrated into intima in non-supported group.Conclusion Perivenous support of vein graft with fibrin glue in vivo can attenuate the severe injury encountered in the non-supported vein grafts exposed to artery.

Abstract:BackgroundTGF-β has been described as a mediator of fibrosis and scarring. Several studies achieved reduction in experimental scarring through the inhibition of TGF-β. Fibroblasts have been defined as the cell population originating fibrosis, blocking fibroblast invasion may impair epidural fibrosis appearance. For this purpose, biocompatible materials used as mechanical barriers and a TGF-β inhibitor peptide were evaluated in the reduction of epidural fibrosis.MethodsA L6 laminectomy was performed in 40 New Zealand white rabbits. Divided into four groups, each rabbit was assigned to receive either collagen sponge scaffold (CS group), gelatin-based gel (GCP group), P144® (iTGFβ group), or left untreated (control group). Four weeks after surgery, cell density, collagen content, and new bone formation of the scar area were determined by histomorphometry. Two experienced pathologists scored dura mater adhesion, scar density, and inflammatory infiltrate in a blinded manner.ResultsIn all groups, laminectomy site was filled with fibrous tissue and the dura mater presented adhesions. Only GCP group presented a significant reduction in collagen content and scar density.ConclusionGCP treatment reduces epidural fibrosis although did not prevent dura mater adhesion completely.

Abstract:Objectives: The current in vitro study aimed to assess the effects of ascorbic acid augmented albumin platelet-rich fibrin (AA Alb-PRF) on the wound healing activity of human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) purported to be a regenerative biomaterial in surgical procedures. Materials and methods: All assays were performed on three HGF groups, group I: complete media; group II: Alb-PRF, and group III: AA Alb- PRF. Alb-PRF was prepared following the protocol by Fujioka-Kobayashi et al. (2021). For preparation of AA Alb-PRF, 2,500 μg AA was added to the blood pre-centrifugation. All groups were subjected to 3-(4,5-dimethythiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay to estimate cell viability and proliferation, scratch assay for migration (0, 4, 12, and 24 hours) and transwell migration assay for chemotactic migration assessment (24 hours). Outcome variables were optical density (OD) for MTT assay, percentage of wound closure in scratch assay, and number of migrated cells in transwell migration assay. One-way ANOVA for MTT and transwell migration assays and two-way ANOVA for scratch assay with Bonferroni correction were performed with significance set at P<0.05. Results: Cell viability and proliferation (OD: 0.684±0.003 and proliferation: 28%) and wound closure (49.92%±1.62% at 4 hours and 61.39%±0.88% at 12 hours) were significantly higher in group III, while group II demonstrated the maximum number of HGFs migrating across the transwell membrane (9.25±2.49) with P<0.05. Conclusion: HGFs demonstrated a significant increase in viability and proliferation along with rapid wound closure in the presence AA Alb-PRF compared to Alb-PRF alone, indicating additional beneficial effects of AA. Thus, AA Alb-PRF potentiates the wound healing activity of HGFs and could be employed in oral, maxillofacial, and periodontal surgeries as a regenerative biomaterial.

Abstract:In this study, a new approach involving placement and subsequent retrieval of titanium microimplants was employed for the histologic investigation of the implant-tissue interface in conjunction with maxillary sinus floor augmentation. Nine patients scheduled for sinus floor augmentation and simultaneous placement of Brånemark implants were included in the study. After a sinus graft procedure and placement of implants, an additional microimplant was placed into the graft through the lateral wall of the sinus. At abutment connection, the microimplants were retrieved using a 3- or 5-mm-wide trephine drill. Six specimens were retrieved after 6 to 14 months from sites augmented with particulate radiated mineralized cancellous allograft. Another six implants were retrieved after 6 to 12 months from maxillary sinuses augmented with particulate autogenous bone grafts. The histologic analysis showed distinct differences between the two types of grafts. The sites with autogenous bones grafts displayed a normal morphology of bone and bone marrow, including formation of bone on the surfaces of the grafted particles and remodeling of newly formed as well as grafted bone. The bone was more mature after 11 to 14 months than at 6 months. The allografted sites had a mixed morphologic appearance of newly formed bone and nonviable allograft particles (about 75% of the total bone area) in loose connective tissue. Significantly more bone was found at the autografted than at the allografted implants. The use of autogenous bone for augmentation of the maxillary sinus floor resulted in a greater amount of viable bone surrounding the implant; however, simultaneous placement of implants apparently resulted in a low proportion of bone-implant contact after 6 to 14 months irrespective of graft type.
Enhancement of Rotator Cuff Healing with Farnesol-Impregnated Gellan Gum/Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel Membranes in a Rabbit Model

Abstract:Most rotator cuff (RC) tears occur at the bone–tendon interface and cause disability and pain. Farnesol, a sesquiterpene compound, can exert antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects and promote collagen synthesis. In this rabbit model, either commercial SurgiWrap membrane or hydrogel membranes containing various compositions of gellan gum, hyaluronic acid, and farnesol (hereafter GHF membranes) were applied to the tear site, and the repair of the cuff was examined 2 and 3 weeks afterward. The designed membranes swelled rapidly and adsorbed onto the tear site more readily and closely than the SurgiWrap membrane. The membranes degraded slowly and functioned as both a barrier and a vehicle of slow farnesol release during the repair period. Farnesol enhanced collagen production in myoblasts and tenocytes, and interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor α levels were modulated. Gross observations and histological examinations indicated that the GHF membranes impregnated with 4 mM farnesol resulted in superior RC repair. In sum, the slow release of farnesol from hydrogel membranes can be beneficial in the repair of RC injuries.

Abstract:Background: Simulating the post-traumatic continuity defect of small human peripheral nerves, we compared the effectiveness of fibrin glue with neurorrhaphy for nerve gap restoration. Methods: In twenty-four male Wistar rats, a fifteen mm defect in one sciatic nerve only was made and immediately repaired with an inverted polarity autograft. According to the used technique, rats were divided into Group A (Control), using traditional neurorrhaphy, and Group B (Study), using fibrine glue sealing; in total, 50% of rats were sacrificed at 16 weeks and 50% at 21 weeks. Before sacrifice, an assessment of motor function was done through Walking Track Analysis and an electroneurophysiological evaluation. After sacrifice, selected muscle mass indexes and the histology of the regenerated nerves were assessed. All data were evaluated by Student's t test for unpaired data. Results: No significant differences were found between the two groups, with only the exception of a relative improvement in the tibialis anterior muscle's number of motor units in the study group. Conclusion: Despite the fact that the use of fibrin glue as a nerve sealant is not superior in terms of functional recovery, its effectiveness is comparable to that of microsurgical repair. Hence, the faster and technically easier glueing technique could deserve broader clinical application.
