Abstract:The aim of this paper is to describe the topological $K$-ring, in terms of generators and relations of a flag Bott manifold. We apply our results to give a presentation for the topological K-ring and hence the Grothendieck ring of algebraic vector bundles over flag Bott Samelson varieties.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to describe the equivariant and ordinary Grothendieck ring and the equivariant and ordinary topological K ‐ring of flag Bott manifolds of the general Lie type. This will generalize the results on the equivariant and ordinary cohomology of flag Bott manifolds of the general Lie type due to Kaji, Kuroki, Lee, and Suh.

Abstract:In this article we introduce flag Bott manifolds of general Lie type as the total spaces of iterated flag bundles. They generalize the notion of flag Bott manifolds and generalized Bott manifolds, and admit nice torus actions. We calculate the torus equivariant cohomology rings of flag Bott manifolds of general Lie type.

Abstract:We give a presentation of the torus-equivariant quantum $K$-theory ring of flag manifolds of type $A$, as a quotient of a polynomial ring by an explicit ideal. This is the torus-equivariant version of our previous result, which gives a presentation of the non-equivariant quantum $K$-theory ring of flag manifolds of type $A$. However, the method of proof for the torus-equivariant one is completely different from that for the non-equivariant one; our proof is based on the result in the $Q = 0$ limit, and uses Nakayama-type arguments to upgrade it to the quantum situation. Also, in contrast to the non-equivariant case in which we used the Chevalley formula, we make use of the inverse Chevalley formula for the torus-equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds to obtain a relation which yields our presentation.

Abstract:We give a purely geometric explanation of the coincidence between the Coulomb Branch equations for the 3D GLSM describing the quantum $K$-theory of a flag variety, and the Bethe Ansatz equations of the 5-vertex lattice model. In doing so, we prove an explicit presentation for the quantum $K$-ring of the flag variety, resolving a conjecture of Gu-Sharpe-Mihalcea-Xu-Zhang-Zou. We also prove that the stable map and quasimap $K$-theory of the partial flag varieties are isomorphic, using the work of Koroteev-Pushkar-Smirnov-Zeitlin describing the latter ring in terms of the Bethe Ansatz equations. Our isomorphism gives a more explicit description of the quantum tautological bundles described in the quasimap ring.

Loop structure on equivariant $K$-theory of semi-infinite flag manifolds

Abstract:We explain that the Pontryagin product structure on the equivariant $K$-group of an affine Grassmannian considered in [Lam-Schilling-Shimozono, Compos. Math. {\bf 146} (2010)] coincides with the tensor structure on the equivariant $K$-group of a semi-infinite flag manifold considered in [K-Naito-Sagaki, Duke Math. {\bf 169} (2020)]. Then, we construct an explicit isomorphism between the equivariant $K$-group of a semi-infinite flag manifold with a suitably localized equivariant quantum $K$-group of the corresponding flag manifold. These exhibit a new framework to understand the ring structure of equivariant quantum $K$-theory and the Peterson isomorphism.

Abstract:Let $\nu=(n_1,\ldots, n_s), s\ge 2,$ be a sequence of positive integers and let $n=\sum_{1\le j\le s}n_j$. Let $\mathbb CG(\nu)=U(n)/(U(n_1)\times \cdots\times U(n_s))$ be the complex flag manifold. Denote by $P(m,\nu)=P(\mathbb S^m,\mathbb CG(\nu))$ the generalized Dold manifold $\mathbb S^m\times \mathbb CG(\nu)/\langle \theta\rangle $ where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$ with $\alpha:\mathbb S^m\to \mathbb S^m$ being the antipodal map and $\sigma:\mathbb CG(\nu)\to \mathbb CG(\nu)$, the complex conjugation. The manifold $P(m,\nu)$ has the structure of a smooth $\mathbb CG(\nu)$-bundle over the real projective space $\mathbb RP^m.$ We determine the additive structure of $H^*(P(m,\nu);R)$ when $R=\mathbb Z$ and its ring structure when $R$ is a commutative ring in which $2$ is invertible. As an application, we determine the additive structure of $K(P(m,\nu))$ almost completely and also obtain partial results on its ring structure. The results for the singular homology are obtained for generalized Dold spaces $P(S,X)=S\times X/\langle \theta\rangle$, where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$, $\alpha:S\to S$ is a fixed point free involution and $\sigma:X\to X$ is an involution with $\mathrm{Fix}(\sigma)\ne \emptyset,$ for a much wider class of spaces $S$ and $X$.

This results allow us to describe more precisely the equivariant cohomology and $K$-theory of the flag variety $X$. We give an expression for the cup product in $H_T^*(X)$.

Abstract:We associate to a full flag $\mathcal{F}$ in an $n$-dimensional variety $X$ over a field $k$, a "symbol map" $\mu_{\mathcal{F}}:K(F_X) \to \Sigma^n K(k)$. Here, $F_X$ is the field of rational functions on $X$, and $K(\cdot)$ is the $K$-theory spectrum. We prove a "reciprocity law" for these symbols: Given a partial flag, the sum of all symbols of full flags refining it is $0$. Examining this result on the level of $K$-groups, we re-obtain various "reciprocity laws". Namely, when $X$ is a smooth complete curve, we obtain degree of a principal divisor is zero, Weil reciprocity, Residue theorem, Contou-Carrère reciprocity. When $X$ is higher-dimensional, we obtain Parshin reciprocity.

Abstract:We extend our family rigidity and vanishing theorems in [LiuMaZ] to the Spin c case.In particular, we prove a ^-theory version of the main results of [H], [Liul, Theorem B] for a family of almost complex manifolds.0. Introduction.Let M, B be two compact smooth manifolds, and TT : M -» B be a smooth fibration with compact fibre X.Let TX be the relative tangent bundle.Assume that a compact Lie group G acts fiberwise on M, that is, the action preserves each fiber of TT.Let P be a family of G-equivariant elliptic operators along the fiber X.Then the family index of P, Ind(P), is a well-defined element in K(B) (cf.[AS]) and is a virtual G-representation (cf.[LiuMal]).We denote by (Ind(P)) G £ K(B) the G-invariant part of Ind(P).A family of elliptic operator P is said to be rigid on the equivariant Chern character level with respect to this G-action, if the equivariant Chern character ch 5 (Ind(P)) G H*(B) is independent of g G G. Cohomology of complete unordered flag manifolds

Abstract:We consider quotients of complete flag manifolds in Cn and Rn by an action of the symmetric group on n objects. We compute their cohomology with field coefficients of any characteristic. Specifically, we show that these topological spaces exhibit homological stability and we provide a closed-form description of their stable cohomology rings. We also describe a simple algorithmic procedure to determine their unstable cohomology additively.

Abstract:In this paper we use three-dimensional gauged linear sigma models to make physical predictions for Whitney-type presentations of equivariant quantum K theory rings of partial flag manifolds, as quantum products of universal subbundles and various ratios, extending previous work for Grassmannians. Physically, these arise as OPEs of Wilson lines for certain Chern-Simons levels. We also include a simplified method for computing Chern-Simons levels pertinent to standard quantum K theory.

Abstract:We compute the integral Grothendieck rings of the moduli stacks, $\mathcal{M}_2$, $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_2$ of smooth and stable curves of genus two respectively. We compute $K_0(\mathcal{M}_2)$ by using the presentation of $\mathcal{M}_2$ as a global quotient stack given by Vistoli. To compute the Grothendieck ring $K_0(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_2)$ we decompose $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_2$ as $\Delta_1$ and its complement $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_2 \setminus \Delta_1$ and use their presentations as quotient stacks given by Larson to compute their Grothendieck rings. We show that they are torsion-free and this, together with the Riemann-Roch isomorphism allows to ultimately give a presentation for the integral Grothendieck ring $K_0(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_2)$.

As an application, we provide an alternative proof of Kelly-Morrow's generalization of the Geisser-Levine theorem computing $p$-adic algebraic K-theory of Cartier smooth local rings; our approach relies on the description of topological cyclic homology through the motivic filtration.

Abstract:Let $E\to B$ be a complex analytic fiber bundle with fiber $F$, a flag variety over a compact complex manifold $B$. We shall obtain a description of the cohomology of $E$ when $B=X_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash X, E=Y_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash Y$ and $F=K/H$, a flag variety, where $Y=G/H$ and $X=G/K$, a Hermitian globally symmetric space of non-compact type with $G$ being a real, connected, non-compact, semisimple linear Lie group with no compact factors and simply connected complexification, $K\subset G$, a maximal compact subgroup, $H=Z_K(S)$, the centralizer in $K$ of a toral subgroup $S\subseteq K$ containing $Z(K)$, the center of $K$ and $\Gamma\subset G$, a uniform and torsionless lattice in $G$. We also obtain a description of the Picard group of $Y_\Gamma$ and $X_{\Gamma}$, for which the complexification of $G$ need not be simply connected. Moreover when $G$ is simple, we obtain the values of $ q$ for which $H^{p,q}(X_\Gamma)$ vanishes when $p=0,1$. This extends the results of R. Parthasarathy from $1980$, who considered (partially) the case $p=0$.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to describe the topological equivariant $K$-ring, in terms of generators and relations, of a Springer variety $\mathcal{F}_{\lambda}$ of type $A$ associated to a nilpotent operator having Jordan canonical form whose block sizes form a weakly decreasing sequence $\lambda=(\lambda_1,\ldots, \lambda_l)$. This parallels the description of the equivariant cohomology ring of $\mathcal{F}_{\lambda}$ due to Abe and Horiguchi and generalizes the description of ordinary topological $K$-ring of $\mathcal{F}_{\lambda}$ due to Sankaran and Uma \cite{su}.

Abstract:We show that the equivariant small quantum $K$-group of a partial flag manifold is a quotient of that of the full flag manifold as a based ring. This yields a variant of the $K$-theoretic analogue of the parabolic version of Peterson's theorem [Lam-Shimozono, Acta Math. {\bf 204} (2010)] that exhibits different shape from the case of quantum cohomology. Abstract:Of the light nuclides observed in the universe today, D, 3He, 4He, and 7Li are relics from its early evolution. The primordial abundances of these relics, produced via Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) during the first half hour of the evolution of the universe provide a unique window on Physics and Cosmology at redshifts of order 10^10. Comparing the BBN-predicted abundances with those inferred from observational data tests the consistency of the standard model of cosmology over ten orders of magnitude in redshift, constrains the baryon and other particle content of the universe, and probes both Cosmology and Physics beyond their current standard models. These lectures are intended to introduce students, both of theory and observation, to those aspects of the evolution of the universe relevant to the production and evolution of the light nuclides from the Big Bang to the present. The current observational data is reviewed and compared with the BBN predictions and the implications for cosmology (e.g., universal baryon density) and particle physics (e.g., relativistic energy density) are discussed. While this comparison reveals the stunning success of the standard model(s), there are currently some challenges which leave open the door for more theoretical and observational work with potential implications for astronomy, cosmology, and particle physics.
