Abstract:We determine the Picard-Fuchs equations of the generalized Dwork families by Katz. As an application, we compute the Frobenius matrix on the rigid cohomology of the family. This was originally done by Kloosterman, while we give an alternative computation with use of the Picard-Fuchs equations.

Abstract:We determine a simple expression of the Picard-Fuchs system for a family of Kummer surfaces for all principally polarized Abelian surfaces. It is given by a system of linear partial differential equations in three variables of rank five. Our results are based on a Jacobian elliptic fibration on Kummer surfaces and a GKZ hypergeometric system suited to the elliptic fibration.

Abstract:We present a systematic method to derive an ordinary differential equation for any Feynman integral, where the differentiation is with respect to an external variable. The resulting differential equation is of Fuchsian type. The method can be used within fixed integer space-time dimensions as well as within dimensional regularisation. We show that finding the differential equation is equivalent to solving a linear system of equations. We observe interesting factorisation properties of the D-dimensional Picard-Fuchs operator when D is specialised to integer dimensions.

Abstract:We study the variation of relative cohomology for a pair consisting of a smooth projective hypersurface and an algebraic subvariety in it. We construct an inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equation by applying a Picard-Fuchs operator to the holomorphic top form on a Calabi-Yau hypersurface in toric variety, and deriving a general formula for the $d$-exact form on one side of the equation. We also derive a double residue formula, giving a purely algebraic way to compute the inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equations for the Abel-Jacobi map, which has played an important role in the recent study of D-branes (by Morrison and Walcher). Using the variation formalism, we prove that the relative periods of toric B-branes on Calabi-Yau hypersurface satisfy the enhanced GKZ-hypergeometric system proposed in physics literature (by Alim, Hecht, Mayr, and Mertens), and discuss the relations between several works in the recent study of open string mirror symmetry. We also give the general solutions to the enhanced hypergeometric system.

Abstract:In this paper, we studied the Picard–Fuchs systems and equations which appear in the theory of Gauss–Manin systems and connections associated with deformations of isolated singularities. Among other things, we describe some interesting properties of such systems and relationships between them. Then we show how to calculate the fundamental solutions to the Gauss–Manin system for Aμ-singularities and to the corresponding generalized Legendre equations in terms of the multidimensional Horn’s hypergeometric functions. In conclusion, some important questions concerning basic properties of the local and global Picard–Fuchs systems of Pfaffian type, involving integrability conditions and commuting relations, are discussed in some detail.
Frobenius structure on hypergeometric equations, p-adic polygamma values and p-adic L-values

Abstract:Recently, Kedlaya proves certain formula describing explicitly the Frobenius structure on a hypergeometric equation. In this paper, we give a generalization of it. In our case, the Frobenius matrix is no longer described by p-adic gamma function, and then we describe it by the p-adic polygamma functions. Since the p-adic polygamma values are linear combinations of p-adic L-values of Dirichlet characters, it turns out that the Frobenius matrix is described by p-adic L-values. Our result has an application to the study on Frobenius on p-adic cohomology. We show that, for a projective smooth family such that the Picard-Fuchs equation is a hypergeometric equation, the Frobenius matrix on the log-crystalline cohomology is described by some values of the logarithmic function and p-adic L-functions of Dirichlet characters.

Abstract:We obtain integral representations of solutions to special cases of the Fuchsian system of differential equations and Heun's differential equation. In particular, we calculate the monodromy of solutions to the Fuchsian equation that corresponds to Picard's solution of the sixth Painlevé equation, and to Heun's equation.

Abstract:Doran and Morgan introduced in [12] a rational basis for the monodromy group of the Picard-Fuchs operator of a hypergeometric family of Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this paper we compute numerically the transition matrix between a generalization of the Doran-Morgan basis and the Frobenius basis at a half-conifold point of a one-parameter family of double octic Calabi-Yau threefolds. We identify the entries of this matrix as rational functions in the special values L ( f , 1 ) and L ( f , 2 ) of the corresponding modular form f and one constant. We also present related results concerning the rank of the group of period integrals generated by the action of the monodromy group on the conifold period.

Abstract:We discuss the existence of an absolute Chow-Kuenneth decomposition for complete degenerations of families of Abelian threefolds with complex multiplication over a particular Picard Modular Surface studied by Holzapfel. In addition to the work of Gordon, Hanamura and Murre we use Relatively Complete Models in the sense of Mumford-Faltings-Chai of Picard Modular Surfaces in order to describe complete degenerations of families of abelian varieties. We furthermore prove vanishing results for cohomology groups of irreducible representations of certain arithmetic subgroups in SU(2,1) using the non--compact Simpson type correspondence between the $L^2$--Higgs cohomology of the underlying VHS and the $L^2$--de Rham cohomology resp. intersection cohomology of local systems.

Abstract:Abstract We present a detailed study of elliptic fibrations on Fourier-Mukai partners of K3 surfaces, which we call derived elliptic structures. We fully classify derived elliptic structures in terms of Hodge-theoretic data, similar to the Derived Torelli Theorem that describes Fourier-Mukai partners. In Picard rank two, derived elliptic structures are fully determined by the Lagrangian subgroups of the discriminant group. As a consequence, we prove that for a large class of Picard rank 2 elliptic K3 surfaces all Fourier-Mukai partners are Jacobians, and we partially extend this result to non-closed fields. We also show that there exist elliptic K3 surfaces with Fourier-Mukai partners, which are not Jacobians of the original K3 surface. This gives a negative answer to a question raised by Hassett and Tschinkel.

Hodge Laplacian and geometry of Kuranishi family of Fano manifolds

Abstract:We first obtain eigenvalue estimates for the Hodge Laplacian on Fano manifolds, which follow from the Bochner-Kodaira formula. Then we apply it to study the geometry of the Kuranishi family of deformations of Fano manifolds. We show that the original Kähler form remains to be a Kähler form for other members of the Kuranishi family, and give an explicit formula of the Ricci potential. We also show that our set-up gives another account for the Donaldson-Fujiki picture.

L-functions associated with families of toric exponential sums

Abstract:We consider arbitrary algebraic families of lower order deformations of nondegenerate toric exponential sums over a finite field. We construct a relative polytope with the aid of which we define a ring of coefficients consisting of p-adic analytic functions with polyhedral growth prescribed by the relative polytope. Using this we compute relative cohomology for such families and calculate sharp estimates for the relative Frobenius map. In applications one is interested in L-functions associated with linear algebra operations (symmetric powers, tensor powers, exterior powers and combinations thereof) applied to the relative Frobenius. Using methods pioneered by Ax, Katz and Bombieri we prove estimates for the degree and total degree of the associated L-function and p-divisibility of the reciprocal zeros and poles. Similar estimates are then established for affine families and pure Archimedean weight families (in the simplicial case).

Revisiting Dwork cohomology: Visibility and divisibility of Frobenius eigenvalues in rigid cohomology

Abstract:We study Frobenius eigenvalues of the compactly supported rigid cohomology of a variety defined over a finite field of $q$ elements via Dwork's method. A couple of arithmetic consequences will be drawn from this study. As the first application, we show that the zeta functions for finitely many related affine varieties are capable of witnessing all Frobenius eigenvalues of the rigid cohomology of the variety up to Tate twist. This result does not seem to be known for $\ell$-adic cohomology. As the second application, we prove several $q$-divisibility lower bounds for Frobenius eigenvalues of the rigid cohomology of the variety in terms of the multi-degrees of the defining equations. These divisibility bounds for rigid cohomology are generally better than what is suggested from the best known divisibility bounds in $\ell$-adic cohomology, both before and after the middle cohomological dimension.

Abstract:This paper concerns entire and meromorphic solutions of the generalized Fermat Diophantine functional equations hf(p) + kg(q) = 1 in C-n, where h, k are meromorphic coefficients in several complex variables and p, q >= 1 are integers with (p, q) not equal (1, 1). As applications, we determine when entire solutions of the simple-looking functional equation f(p) + g(q) = 1 in C reduce to constant and then apply the result to show two well-known Picard type theorems in a direct manner.

Abstract:Recent work on the zero temperature phases and phase transitions of strongly random electronic system is reviewed. The transition between the spin glass and quantum paramagnet is examined, for both metallic and insulating systems. Insight gained from the solution of infinite range models leads to a quantum field theory for the transition between a metallic quantum paramagnetic and a metallic spin glass. The finite temperature phase diagram is described and crossover functions are computed in mean field theory. A study of fluctuations about mean field leads to the formulation of scaling hypotheses.

From equations in coordinate space to Picard-Fuchs and back

Abstract:We continue the development of a position space approach to equations for Feynman multi-loop integrals. The key idea of the approach is that unintegrated products of Greens functions in position space are still loop integral in momentum space. The natural place to start are the famous banana diagrams, which we explore in this paper. In position space, these are just products of $n$ propagators. Firstly, we explain that these functions satisfy an equation of order $2^n$. These should be compared with Picard-Fuchs equations derived for the momentum space integral. We find that the Fourier transform of the position space operator contains the Picard-Fuchs one as a rightmost factor. The order of these operators is a special issue, especially since the order in momentum space is governed by degree in $x$ in position space. For the generic mass case this factorization pattern is complicated and it seems like the order of the Fourier transformed position space operators is much bigger than that of the Picard-Fuchs. Furthermore, one may ask what happens if after factorization we take the Picard-Fuchs operators back into position space. We discover that the result is again factorized, with the rightmost factor being the original position space equation. We demonstrate how this works in examples and discuss implications for more sophisticated Feynman integrals.

Abstract:Kida, Rikuna and Sato [KRS10] developed a classification theory for Brumer's quintic polynomials via Kummer theory arising from associated elliptic curves. We generalize their results to elliptic curves associated to Lecacheux's quintic $F_{20}$-polynomials instead of Brumer's quintic $D_5$-polynomials.
On affine Kazhdan-Lusztig R-polynomials for Kac-Moody groups

Abstract:In 2019, D. Muthiah proposed a strategy to define affine Kazhdan-Lusztig $R$-polynomials for Kac-Moody groups. Since then, Bardy-Panse, the first author and Rousseau have introduced the formalism of twin masures and the authors have extended combinatorial results from affine root systems to general Kac-Moody root systems in a previous article. In this paper, we use these results to explicitly define affine $R$-Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for Kac-Moody groups. The construction is based on a path model lifting to twin masures. Conjecturally, these polynomials count the cardinality of intersections of opposite affine Schubert cells, as in the case of reductive groups.

Kähler-Einstein metrics on families of Fano varieties

Abstract:Given a one-parameter family of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties such that the central fibre admits a unique Kähler-Einstein metric, we provide an analytic method to show that the neighboring fibre admits a unique Kähler-Einstein metric. Our results go beyond by establishing uniform a priori estimates on the Kähler-Einstein potentials along fully degenerate families of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties. In addition, we show the continuous variation of these Kähler-Einstein currents, and establish uniform Moser-Trudinger inequalities and uniform coercivity of the Ding functionals. Central to our article is introducing and studying a notion of convergence for quasi-plurisubharmonic functions within families of normal Kähler varieties. We show that the Monge-Ampère energy is upper semi-continuous with respect to this topology, and we establish a Demailly-Kollár result for functions with full Monge-Ampère mass.

Abstract:We derive infinitely many meromorphic differentials based on the fractional powers of the superpotential arising from hyperelliptic curves. We obtain various differential equations expressed in terms of the moduli derivatives of the Seiberg–Witten differential. Taking advantage of the cross derivatives of these differentials, we can derive some Picard–Fuchs equations and use the Euler operator to obtain a complete set of Picard–Fuchs equations containing the instanton correction term. We solve the complete system of equations by expanding the moduli parameters in power series.
