Abstract:In this paper, we employ probabilistic techniques to derive sharp, explicit two-sided estimates for the heat kernel of the nonlocal kinetic operator $$ \Delta^{\alpha/2}_v + v \cdot \nabla_x, \quad \alpha \in (0, 2),\ (x,v)\in {\mathbb R}^{d}\times{\mathbb R}^d,$$ where $ \Delta^{\alpha/2}_v $ represents the fractional Laplacian acting on the velocity variable $v$. Additionally, we establish logarithmic gradient estimates with respect to both the spatial variable $x$ and the velocity variable $v$. In fact, the estimates are developed for more general non-symmetric stable-like operators, demonstrating explicit dependence on the lower and upper bounds of the kernel functions. These results, in particular, provide a solution to a fundamental problem in the study of \emph{nonlocal} kinetic operators.

Abstract:Consider the Schrodinger operator L-V = - Delta + V on R-d , where V : R-d -> [0 , infinity) is a nonnegative and locally bounded potential on R-d so that for all x is an element of R-d with | x | >= 1, c(1)g( | x | ) <= V (x) <= c(2)g( | x | ) with some constants c 1 , c(2) > 0 and a nondecreasing and strictly positive function g : [0,infinity) -> [1 ,+infinity ) that satisfies g(2r) <= c(0)g(r) for all r > 0 and lim(r ->infinity )g(r) = infinity . We establish global in time and qualitatively sharp bounds for the heat kernel of the associated Schr delta dinger semigroup by the probabilistic method. In particular, we can present global in space and time two-sided bounds of heat kernel even when the Schrodinger semigroup is not intrinsically ultracontractive. Furthermore, two-sided estimates for the corresponding Green's function are also obtained.

Sharp two-sided heat kernel estimates for Schrödinger operators with decaying potentials

Abstract:We establish global two-sided heat kernel estimates (for full time and space) of the Schrödinger operator $-\frac{1}{2}\Delta+V$ on $\R^d$, where the potential $V(x)$ is locally bounded and behaves like $c|x|^{-\alpha}$ near infinity with $\alpha\in (0,2)$ and $c> 0$, or with $\alpha>0$ and $c<0$.Our results improve all known results in the literature, and it seems that the current paper is the first one where consistent two-sided heat kernel bounds for the long range potentials are established.

Abstract:We establish a Gaussian upper bound of the heat kernel for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on complete Riemannian manifolds with Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature bounded below. As applications, we first prove an L^1-Liouville property for non-negative subharmonic functions when the potential function of the Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature tensor is of at most quadratic growth. Then we derive lower bounds of the eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on closed manifolds. An upper bound of the bottom spectrum is also obtained.

Special potentials for relativistic Laplacians I: Fractional Rollnik-class

Abstract:We propose a counterpart of the classical Rollnik-class of potentials for fractional and massive relativistic Laplacians, and describe this space in terms of appropriate Riesz potentials. These definitions rely on precise resolvent estimates. We show that Coulomb-type potentials are elements of fractional Rollnik-class up to but not including the critical singularity of the Hardy potential. For the operators with fractional exponent $\alpha = 1$ there exists no fractional Rollnik potential, however, in low dimensions we make sense of these classes as limiting cases by using $\Gamma$-convergence. In a second part of the paper we derive detailed results on the self-adjointness and spectral properties of relativistic Schrödinger operators obtained under perturbations by fractional Rollnik potentials. We also define an extended fractional Rollnik-class which is the maximal space for the Hilbert-Schmidt property of the related Birman-Schwinger operators.

Boundedness of Wolff-type potentials and applications to PDEs

Abstract:We provide a short proof of a sharp rearrangement estimate for a generalized version of a potential of Wolff--Havin--Maz'ya type. As a consequence, we prove a reduction principle for that integral operators, that is, a characterization of those rearrangement invariant spaces between which the potentials are bounded via a one-dimensional inequality of Hardy-type. Since the special case of the mentioned potential is known to control precisely very weak solutions to a broad class of quasilinear elliptic PDEs of non-standard growth, we infer the local regularity properties of the solutions in rearrangement invariant spaces for prescribed classes of data.

Observability inequalities for heat equations with potentials

Abstract:This paper is mainly concerned with the observability inequalities for heat equations with time-dependent Lipschtiz potentials. The observability inequality for heat equations asserts that the total energy of a solution is bounded above by the energy localized in a subdomain with an observability constant. For a bounded measurable potential $V = V(x,t)$, the factor in the observability constant arising from the Carleman estimate is best known to be $\exp(C\|V\|_{\infty}^{2/3})$ (even for time-independent potentials). In this paper, we show that, for Lipschtiz potentials, this factor can be replaced by $\exp(C(\|\nabla V\|_{\infty}^{1/2} +\|\partial_tV\|_{\infty}^{1/3} ))$, which improves the previous bound $\exp(C\|V\|_{\infty}^{2/3})$ in some typical scenarios. As a consequence, with such a Lipschitz potential, we obtain a quantitative regular control in a null controllability problem. In addition, for the one-dimensional heat equation with some time-independent bounded measurable potential $V = V(x)$, we obtain the optimal observability constant.

Abstract:Let α(x) be a measurable function taking values in [α1,α2] for 0<α1⩽α2<2, and κ(x,z) be a positive measurable function that is symmetric in z and bounded between two positive constants. Under uniform Hölder continuous assumptions on α(x) and x↦κ(x,z), we obtain existence, upper and lower bounds, and regularity properties of the heat kernel associated with the following non-local operator of variable order Lf(x)=∫Rd(f(x+z)−f(x)−〈∇f(x),z〉1{|z|⩽1})κ(x,z)|z|d+α(x)dz. In particular, we show that the operator L generates a conservative Feller process on Rd having strong Feller property, which is usually assumed a priori in the literature to study analytic properties of L via probabilistic approaches. Our near-diagonal estimates and lower bound estimates of the heat kernel depend on the local behavior of index function α(x). When α(x)≡α∈(0,2), our results recover some results by Chen and Kumagai (2003) and Chen and Zhang (2016).

Abstract:Motivated by the study of relativistic atoms, we consider the Hardy operator $(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2}-\kappa|x|^{-\alpha}$ acting on functions of the form $u(|x|) |x|^{\ell} Y_{\ell,m}(x/|x|)$ in $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$, when $\kappa\geq0$ and $\alpha\in(0,2]\cap(0,d+2\ell)$. We give a ground state representation of the corresponding form on the half-line (Theorem 1.5). For the proof we use subordinated Bessel heat kernels.

Abstract:We prove sharp estimates of the heat kernel associated with Fourier-Dini expansions on $(0,1)$ equipped with Lebesgue measure and the Neumann condition imposed on the right endpoint. Then we give several applications of this result including sharp bounds for the corresponding Poisson and potential kernels, sharp mapping properties of the maximal heat semigroup and potential operators and boundary convergence of the Fourier-Dini semigroup.

Abstract:We study Jost solutions of Schrödinger operators with potentials which decay with respect to a local $H^{-1}$ Sobolev norm; in particular, we generalize to this setting the results of Christ--Kiselev for potentials between the integrable and square-integrable rates of decay, proving existence of solutions with WKB asymptotic behavior on a large set of positive energies. This applies to new classes of potentials which are not locally integrable, or have better decay properties with respect to the $H^{-1}$ norm due to rapid oscillations.

Two-dimensional Schrödinger operators with non-local singular potentials

Abstract:In this paper we introduce and study a family of self-adjoint realizations of the Laplacian in $L^2(\mathbb{R}^2)$ with a new type of transmission conditions along a closed bi-Lipschitz curve $\Sigma$. These conditions incorporate jumps in the Dirichlet traces both of the functions in the operator domains and of their Wirtinger derivatives and are non-local. Constructing a convenient generalized boundary triple, they may be parametrized by all compact hermitian operators in $L^2(\Sigma;\mathbb{C}^2)$. Whereas for all choices of parameters the essential spectrum is stable and equal to $[0, +\infty)$, the discrete spectrum exhibits diverse behaviour. While in many cases it is finite, we will describe also a class of parameters for which the discrete spectrum is infinite and accumulates at $-\infty$. The latter class contains a non-local version of the oblique transmission conditions. Finally, we will connect the current model to its relativistic counterpart studied recently in [L. Heriban, M. Tušek: Non-local relativistic $\delta$-shell interactions].

The energy-critical stochastic Zakharov system

Abstract:This work is devoted to the stochastic Zakharov system in dimension four, which is the energy-critical dimension. First, we prove local well-posedness in the energy space $H^1\times L^2$ up to the maximal existence time and a blow-up alternative. Second, we prove that for large data solutions exist globally as long as energy and wave mass are below the ground state threshold. Third, we prove a regularization by noise phenomenon: the probability of global existence and scattering goes to one if the strength of the (non-conservative) noise goes to infinity. The proof is based on the refined rescaling approach and a new functional framework, where both Fourier restriction and local smoothing norms are used as well as a (uniform) double endpoint Strichartz and local smoothing inequality for the Schrödinger equation with certain rough and time dependent lower order perturbations.
