Abstract:The theory of presentations of enriched monads was developed by Kelly, Power, and Lack, following classic work of Lawvere, and has been generalized to apply to subcategories of arities in recent work of Bourke-Garner and the authors. We argue that, while theoretically elegant and structurally fundamental, such presentations of enriched monads can be inconvenient to construct directly in practice, as they do not directly match the definitional procedures used in constructing many categories of enriched algebraic structures via operations and equations. Retaining the above approach to presentations as a key technical underpinning, we establish a flexible formalism for directly describing enriched algebraic structure borne by an object of a $V$-category $C$ in terms of parametrized $J$-ary operations and diagrammatic equations for a suitable subcategory of arities $J \hookrightarrow C$. On this basis we introduce the notions of diagrammatic $J$-presentation and $J$-ary variety, and we show that the category of $J$-ary varieties is dually equivalent to the category of $J$-ary $V$-monads. We establish several examples of diagrammatic $J$-presentations and $J$-ary varieties relevant in both mathematics and theoretical computer science, and we define the sum and tensor product of diagrammatic $J$-presentations. We show that both $J$-relative monads and $J$-pretheories give rise to diagrammatic $J$-presentations that directly describe their algebras. Using diagrammatic $J$-presentations as a method of proof, we generalize the pretheories-monads adjunction of Bourke and Garner beyond the locally presentable setting. Lastly, we generalize Birkhoff's Galois connection between classes of algebras and sets of equations to the above setting.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to provide a more flexible and practical method for describing and constructing algebraic structures in enriched categories. Specifically, the authors develop a new framework, called diagrammatic J - presentations, for directly describing the algebraic structures in the enriched category C carried by the object A. These structures are defined by parameterized J - ary operations and diagrammatic equations. This method aims to overcome the inconveniences encountered in the practical applications of traditional methods, especially when constructing specific classes of enriched - category algebraic structures. ### Main Contributions 1. **Introduction of Diagrammatic J - presentations**: The authors propose the concept of diagrammatic J - presentations, which is a new method for describing algebraic structures in enriched categories. This representation defines algebraic structures through parameterized J - ary operations and diagrammatic equations, making the description more intuitive and convenient. 2. **Theoretical Foundation**: The paper establishes a flexible formal system for directly describing algebraic structures in enriched categories. This system is based on a suitable subcategory of operators J, in which J - ary operations and diagrammatic equations can be conveniently constructed and used. 3. **Relationship between J - ary Varieties and J - ary Monads**: The authors prove that there is a dual equivalence relationship between the category of J - ary varieties and the category of J - ary monads. This result generalizes several conclusions in the existing literature. 4. **Application Examples**: The paper provides multiple examples of diagrammatic J - presentations and J - ary varieties. These examples cover multiple fields in mathematics and theoretical computer science, such as internal R - modules, R - affine spaces, monoidal categories, etc. 5. **New Construction Methods**: The authors also introduce construction methods for the sum and tensor product of diagrammatic J - presentations. These methods further demonstrate the flexibility and practicality of diagrammatic J - presentations. 6. **Theoretical Generalization**: Using diagrammatic J - presentations as a proof method, the authors generalize the pre - theory - monad adjunction of Bourke and Garner to non - locally presentable settings and generalize Birkhoff's Galois connection to the current enriched - category setting. ### Problems Solved - **Inconveniences of Traditional Methods**: When describing and constructing specific enriched - category algebraic structures, traditional methods need to explicitly construct the objects of each internal operation symbol, which is a cumbersome and non - intuitive process. Diagrammatic J - presentations provide a more direct and practical method. - **Combination of Theory and Practice**: The new method is not only of great theoretical significance but also more convenient in practical applications and can better reflect the definition process in mathematical practice. Through these contributions, the paper provides a new and more practical tool for the study of algebraic structures in enriched categories, which helps to promote the further development of this field.
