Abstract:There are strong evidences in the literature that quantum non-Markovianity would hinder the presence of Quantum Darwinism. In this Letter, we study the relation between quantum Darwinism and approximate quantum Markovianity for open quantum systems by exploiting the properties of quantum conditional mutual information. We show that for approximately Markovian quantum processes the conditional mutual information still has the scaling property for Quantum Darwinism. Then two general bounds on the backflow of information are obtained, with which we can show that the presence of Quantum Darwinism restricts the information backflow and the quantum non-Markovianity must be small.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper attempts to explore the relationship between Quantum Darwinism and approximate quantum Markovianity. Specifically, the author studies the connection between Quantum Darwinism and approximate quantum Markov processes in open quantum systems, and uses the properties of quantum conditional mutual information to analyze this relationship. ### Main problems 1. **The influence of quantum non - Markovianity on Quantum Darwinism**: - Previous studies have shown that quantum non - Markovianity will hinder the emergence of Quantum Darwinism. However, some models also show that the quantum non - Markovianity of the environment will not completely prevent the emergence of Quantum Darwinism. Therefore, this paper aims to further explore this relationship. 2. **Quantum Darwinism in approximate quantum Markov processes**: - By analyzing the conditional mutual information in approximate Markov quantum processes, the author proves that in such processes, the scaling properties of Quantum Darwinism still hold. This means that only when the quantum non - Markovianity is very strong will it significantly affect the emergence of Quantum Darwinism. 3. **The limitation of information backflow**: - The author also studies the upper bound of information backflow (information backflow) and finds that the existence of Quantum Darwinism will greatly suppress information backflow. This further supports Quantum Darwinism in approximate Markov processes. ### Research methods - **Quantum conditional mutual information**: The author uses quantum conditional mutual information \(I(S:Fl|Fk)\) to quantify the correlations between different fragments and studies its role in Quantum Darwinism. - **Approximately completely positive maps**: By considering approximately completely positive maps, the author analyzes Quantum Darwinism in approximate Markov processes. - **The upper bound of information backflow**: By calculating the upper bound of conditional mutual information, the author shows how Quantum Darwinism restricts information backflow. ### Main conclusions - **The relationship between Quantum Darwinism and approximate quantum Markovianity**: Quantum Darwinism exists in open quantum systems if and only if the system is Markov or approximately Markov. - **The suppression of information backflow**: The existence of Quantum Darwinism will greatly suppress the information flowing back from the environment to the system, thus limiting the influence of quantum non - Markovianity. ### Significance - The results of this paper provide a new perspective for understanding the relationship between Quantum Darwinism and quantum non - Markovianity, and are helpful for further exploring the emergence mechanism of classical objectivity in the quantum decoherence process. ### Formula examples - **Quantum conditional mutual information**: \[ I(S:Fl|Fk)=H(S|Fk) - H(S|Fk, Fl) \] - **The upper bound of information backflow**: \[ I(S:Fl|Fk)\leq 2\epsilon\log|S|+(1 + \epsilon)h\left(\frac{\epsilon}{1+\epsilon}\right) \] where \(\epsilon\) is the error parameter of the approximately completely positive map, and \(h(x)=-x\log x-(1 - x)\log(1 - x)\) is the binary entropy function. Through these analyses, the author has drawn a profound connection between Quantum Darwinism and approximate quantum Markovianity, providing an important theoretical basis for quantum information theory and quantum decoherence research.
