Abstract:We investigate a novel operator seminorm, QA,mλ,f, for an A-bounded operator Q, where A is a positive operator on a complex Hilbert space (K,⟨·,·⟩). This seminorm is defined using a continuous increasing and bijective function f:R+⟶R+ and an interpolational path mλ of the symmetric mean m. Specifically, QA,mλ,f=supf−1fQy,yAmλfQyA:y∈K,yA=1, where f−1 represents the reciprocal function of f, and ⟨·,·⟩A and ·A denote the semi-inner product and seminorm, respectively, induced by A on K. We explore various bounds and relationships associated with this new concept, establishing connections with existing literature.

Abstract:In the setting of a doubling metric measure space $(X,d,\mu)$, we study regularity of sets whose characteristic functions belong to the Besov class $B^s_{1,1}(X)$. Following a result of Visintin in $\mathbb{R}^n$, we provide a sufficient condition for membership in $B^s_{1,1}(X)$ given in terms of the upper Minkowski codimension of the regularized boundary of the set. We also show that if the characteristic function of a set belongs to $B^s_{1,1}(X)$, then its measure theoretic boundary has codimension $s$ Hausdorff measure zero. To the best of our knowledge, this result is new even in the Euclidean setting. By studying certain fat Cantor sets, we provide examples illustrating that the converses of these results do not hold in general. In the doubling metric measure space setting, we then consider minimizers of the nonlocal perimeter functional $\mathcal{J}_\Omega^s$, extending the definition introduced by Caffarelli, Roquejoffre, and Savin in $\mathbb{R}^n$, and prove existence, uniform density, and porosity results for minimizers.

Symmetric functionals on simply generated symmetric spaces

Abstract:In the present paper we suggest a construction of symmetric functionals on a large class of symmetric spaces over a semifinite von Neumann algebra. This approach establishes a bijection between the symmetric functionals on symmetric spaces and shift-invariant functionals on the space of bounded sequences. It allows to obtain a bijection between the classes of all continuous symmetric functionals on different symmetric spaces. Notably, we show that this mapping is not bijective on the class of all Dixmier traces. As an application of our results we prove an extension of the Connes trace formula for a wide class of operators and symmetric functionals.

Abstract:We establish various forms of the following certainty principle: a set $S \subset \mathbb{R}^{n}$ contains a given finite linear pattern, provided that $S$ is a support of the Fourier transform of a sufficiently singular probability measure on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. As its main corollary, we provide new dimensional estimates for PDE- and Fourier-constrained vector measures. Those results, in certain cases of restrictions given by homogeneous operators, improve known bounds related to the notion of the $k$-wave cone.

Abstract:The concept of measurability of functions on a charge space is generalised for functions taking values in a uniform space. Several existing forms of measurability generalise naturally in this context, and new forms of measurability are proposed. Conditions under which the various forms of measurability are logically equivalent are identified. Applying these concepts to real-valued functions, some recent characterisations of measurable functions on a bounded charge space are generalised to the unbounded case.

Abstract:We establish a Fenchel-Moreau type theorem for proper convex functions f : X -> (L) over bar (0), where (X,Y,<.,.>) is a dual pair of Banach spaces and (L) over bar (0) is the space of all extended real-valued functions on a sigma-finite measure space. We introduce the concept of stable lower semi-continuity which is shown to be equivalent to the existence of a dual representation f(x) = sup(y is an element of L0(Y)) {< x, y > - f*(y)}, x is an element of X, where L-0(Y) is the space of all strongly measurable functions with values in Y, and <.,.> is understood pointwise almost everywhere. The proof is based on a conditional extension result and conditional functional analysis.

Abstract:We give an alternative proof of a fact that a finite continuous non-decreasing submodular set function on a measurable space can be expressed as a supremum of measures dominated by the function, if there exists a class of sets which is totally ordered with respect to inclusion and generates the sigma-algebra of the space. The proof is elementary in the sense that the measure attaining the supremum in the claim is constructed by a standard extension theorem of measures. As a consequence, a uniquness of the supremum attaining measure also follows. A Polish space is an examples of the measurable space which has a class of totally ordered sets that generates the Borel sigma-algebra.

Abstract:We study regularity properties of frequency measures arising from random substitutions, which are a generalisation of (deterministic) substitutions where the substituted image of each letter is chosen independently from a fixed finite set. In particular, for a natural class of such measures, we derive a closed-form analytic formula for the -spectrum and prove that the multifractal formalism holds. This provides an interesting new class of measures satisfying the multifractal formalism. More generally, we establish results concerning the -spectrum of a broad class of frequency measures. We introduce a new notion called the inflation word - spectrum of a random substitution and show that this coincides with the -spectrum of the corresponding frequency measure for all . As an application, we obtain closed-form formulas under separation conditions and recover known results for topological and measure theoretic entropy.

Abstract:We prove that a countable semigroup $S$ is locally finite if and only if the Arens-Michael envelope of its semigroup algebra is a $(DF)$-space. This is a counterpart to a recent result of the author, which asserts that $S$ is finitely generated if and only if the Arens-Michael envelope is a Fréchet space.

Abstract:Working with sets of infinite -Hausdorff measures can be cumbersome, so simplifying them to sets of positive finite general fractal measures proves to be highly beneficial. This paper aims to demonstrate that the -Hausdorff measures adhere to the property of being a subset of positive and finite measures. Our main result is then applied to establish that the general fractal function dimension is defined as the supremum of the general fractal dimension across all Borel probability measures.

Abstract:We show that every operator in $L^{2}$ has an associated measure on a space of functions and prove that it can be used to find solutions to abstract Cauchy problems, including partial differential equations. We find explicit formulas to compute the integral of functions with respect to this measure and develop approximate formulas in terms of a perturbative expansion. We show that this method can be used to represent solutions of classical equations, such as the diffusion and Fokker-Plank equations, as Wiener and Martin-Siggia-Rose-Jansen-de Dominics integrals, and propose an extension to paths in infinite dimensional spaces.

Abstract:Under mild assumptions, we prove that any random multifunction can be represented as the set of minimizers of an infinitely many differentiable normal integrand, which preserves the convexity of the random multifunction. We provide several applications of this result to the approximation of random multifunctions and integrands. The paper ends with a characterization of the set of integrable selections of a measurable multifunction as the set of minimizers of an infinitely many differentiable integral function.

Abstract:For a measurable space $(X,\mathcal{A})$, let $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$ be the commutative semiring of non-negative real-valued measurable functions with pointwise addition and pointwise multiplication. We show that there is a lattice isomorphism between the ideal lattice of $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$ and the ideal lattice of its ring of differences $\mathcal{M}(X,\mathcal{A})$. Moreover, we infer that each ideal of $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$ is a semiring $z$-ideal. We investigate the duality between cancellative congruences on $\mathcal{M}^{+}(X,\mathcal{A})$ and $Z_{\mathcal{A}}$-filters on $X$. We observe that for $\sigma$-algebras, compactness and pseudocompactness coincide, and we provide a new characterization for compact measurable spaces via algebraic properties of $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$. It is shown that the space of (real) maximal congruences on $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$ is homeomorphic to the space of (real) maximal ideals of the $\mathcal{M}(X,\mathcal{A})$. We solve the isomorphism problem for the semirings of the form $\mathcal{M}^+(X,\mathcal{A})$ for compact and realcompact measurable spaces.

Abstract:The notion of projection families generalizes the classical notions of vector and operator-valued measures. We show that projection families are general enough to extend the Spectral Theorem to Banach algebras and operators between Banach spaces. To this end, we first develop a Smooth Functional Calculus in Banach algebras using the Cauchy-Pompeiu Formula, which is further extended to a Continuous Functional Calculus. We also show that these theorems are proper generalizations of the usual result for operators between Hilbert spaces.
