Abstract:We explore the Fourier transform of the Heegaard Floer $d$-invariants, which is particularly well-behaved with respect to connected sum. As corollaries, we show that lens spaces are cancellable in the monoid of 3-manifolds up to integer homology cobordism, and we recover a theorem of González-Acuña--Short on Alexander polynomials of knots with reducible surgeries.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the integer homology cobordism properties of 3 - dimensional manifolds, especially the behavior of connected sums and lens spaces under integer homology cobordism. Specifically, the author explores the following problems: 1. **d - invariants of connected sums**: Study the behavior of d - invariants under connected sums and recover the d - invariants of each component in the connected sum through Fourier transform. 2. **Cancellability of lens spaces**: Prove that lens spaces are cancellable in the monoid of 3 - manifolds up to integer homology cobordism, that is, if \(L \# Y\) and \(L' \# Y\) are integer homology cobordism - equivalent, then \(L\) and \(L'\) must be oriented diffeomorphic. ### Main Conclusions - **Theorem 1**: Suppose \(L\) and \(L'\) are connected sums of lens spaces. If \(L\) and \(L'\) are integer homology cobordism - equivalent through some 4 - dimensional manifold \(W\), then \(L\) and \(L'\) must be oriented diffeomorphic, and the induced map \(W_*:H_1(L)\to H_1(L')\) preserves the natural direct sum decomposition. The mathematical expression is: \[ \text{If } L \# Y \sim_{\mathbb{Z}} L' \# Y, \text{ then } L \cong L'. \] - **Corollary**: Lens spaces are cancellable in the monoid of 3 - manifolds up to integer homology cobordism, which means that in a connected sum, the parts of lens spaces can be uniquely determined. ### Methods The author uses Fourier transform to deal with d - invariants, which is achieved through the following steps: 1. **Additive property**: Utilize the additive property of Fourier transform to decompose the d - invariant of a connected sum into the d - invariants of each part. 2. **Non - vanishing property**: Prove that for lens spaces, the Fourier transform of their d - invariants has a non - vanishing property, so that each part of the d - invariants can be uniquely recovered. 3. **Turaev - Reidemeister torsion**: Through the relationship between Turaev - Reidemeister torsion and d - invariants, further verify the classification of lens spaces. ### Applications These results not only help to understand the topological properties of lens spaces, but also provide new tools and methods for further research on the homology cobordism of 3 - dimensional manifolds. For example, the author re - proves González - Acuña - Short's theorem on reducible surgeries, showing the potential application value of Fourier transform in other contexts. In conclusion, this paper solves some key problems in the integer homology cobordism of 3 - dimensional manifolds by introducing the tool of Fourier transform, especially the classification and cancellability of lens spaces.
