Abstract:In this paper, we study the linear dynamical properties of shift operators on some classes of Segal algebras. Moreover, we characterize hypercyclic generalized bilateral shift operators on the standard Hilbert module.

Abstract:An operator $T$ acting on a separable complex Hilbert space $H$ is said to be hypercyclic if there exists $f\in H$ such that the orbit $\{T^n f:\ n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ is dense in $H$. Godefroy and Shapiro \cite{GoSha} characterized those elements in the commutant of the Hardy backward shift which are hypercyclic. In this paper we study some dynamics properties of operators $X$ that $\lambda$-commute with the Hardy backward shift $B$, that is, $BX=\lambda XB$.

Abstract:We introduce a class of linear bounded invertible operators on Banach spaces, called shift operators, which comprises weighted backward shifts and models finite products of weighted backward shifts and dissipative composition operators. We classify vast families of these shift operators, including the ones generated by orthogonal, diagonalizable, rotation or hyperbolic matrices. and this classification yields verifiable conditions which we use to construct concrete examples of shift operators with a variety of dynamical properties. As a consequence, we show that, for large classes of shift operators, generalized hyperbolicity is equivalent to the shadowing property.

Abstract:Ott, Tomforde, and Willis proposed a useful compactification for one-sided shifts over infinite alphabets. Building from their idea we develop a notion of two-sided shift spaces over infinite alphabets, with an eye towards generalizing a result of Kitchens. As with the one-sided shifts over infinite alphabets our shift spaces are compact Hausdorff spaces but, in contrast to the one-sided setting, our shift map is continuous everywhere. We show that many of the classical results from symbolic dynamics are still true for our two-sided shift spaces. In particular, while for one-sided shifts the problem about whether or not any $M$-step shift is conjugate to an edge shift space is open, for two-sided shifts we can give a positive answer for this question.

Abstract:We characterize disjoint and simultaneously hypercyclic tuples of unilateral pseudo-shift operators on $\ell^p(\mathbb{N})$. As a consequence, complementing the results of Bernal and Jung, we give a characterization for simultaneously hypercyclic tuples of unilateral weighted shifts. We also give characterizations for unilateral pseudo-shifts that satisfy the Disjoint and Simultaneous Hypercyclicity Criterions. Contrary to the disjoint hypercyclicity case, tuples of weighted shifts turn out to be simultaneously hypercyclic if and only if they satisfy the Simultaneous Hypercyclicity Criterion.

Abstract:A main objective of the present paper is to develop the theory of hypercyclicity and supercyclicity of linear operators on topological vector space over non-Archimedean valued fields. We show that there does not exist any hypercyclic operator on finite dimensional spaces. Moreover, we give sufficient and necessary conditions of hypercyclicity (resp. supercyclicity) of linear operators on separable $F$-spaces. It is proven that a linear operator $T$ on topological vector space $X$ is hypercyclic (supercyclic) if it satisfies Hypercyclic (resp. Supercyclic) Criterion. We consider backward shifts on $c_0$, and characterize hypercyclicity and supercyclicity of such kinds of shifts. Finally, we study hypercyclicity, supercyclicity of operators $\lambda I+\mu B$, where $I$ is identity and $B$ is backward shift. We note that there are essential differences between the non-Archimedean and real cases.
One-sided shift spaces over infinite alphabets

Abstract:We define a notion of (one-sided) shift spaces over infinite alphabets. Unlike many previous approaches to shift spaces over countable alphabets, our shift spaces are compact Hausdorff spaces. We examine shift morphisms between these shift spaces, and identify three distinct classes that generalize the shifts of finite type. We show that when our shift spaces satisfy a property that we call "row-finite", then shift morphisms on them may be identified with sliding block codes. As applications, we show that if two (possibly infinite) directed graphs have edge shifts that are conjugate, then the groupoids of the graphs are isomorphic, and the C*-algebras of the graphs are isomorphic.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the cyclicity of the shift operator $S$ acting on a Banach space $\X$ of analytic functions on the open unit disc $\D$. We develop a general framework where a method based on a corona theorem can be used to show that if $f,g\in\X$ satisfy $|g(z)|\leq |f(z)|$, for every $z\in\D$, and if $g$ is cyclic, then $f$ is cyclic. We also give sufficient conditions for cyclicity in this context. This enable us to recapture some recent results obtained in de Branges-Rovnayk spaces, in Besov--Dirichlet spaces and in weighted Dirichlet type spaces.

Abstract:We study algebraic shifting of uniform hypergraphs and finite simplicial complexes in the exterior algebra with respect to matrices which are not necessarily generic. Several questions raised by Kalai (2002) are addressed. For instance, it turns out that the combinatorial shifting of Erdős$\unicode{x2013}$Ko$\unicode{x2013}$Rado (1961) arises as a special case. Moreover, we identify a sufficient condition for partial shifting to preserve the Betti numbers of a simplicial complex; examples show that this condition is sharp.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the cyclic vectors of the shift operator $S_b$ acting on de Branges-Rovnyak space $\mathcal H(b)$ associated to a non-extreme point of the closed unit ball of $H^\infty$. We highlight an interesting link with a completeness problem that we study using the Cauchy transform. This enables us to obtain some nice consequences on cyclicity.

Abstract:In this paper, we initially introduce the concept of disjoint subspace-hypercyclic operators and illustrate that disjoint subspace-hypercyclic operators differ from disjoint hypercyclic operators. Furthermore, we obtain two different criteria for disjoint subspace-hypercyclic operators. Finally, we discover an equivalent condition regarding the bilateral forward weighted shift operators' disjoint subspace-transitivity on or in a certain special case.

Abstract:We study the existence of algebras of hypercyclic vectors for weighted backward shifts on sequence spaces of directed trees with the coordinatewise product. When $V$ is a rooted directed tree, we show the set of hypercyclic vectors of any backward weighted shift operator on the space $c_0(V)$ or $\ell^1(V)$ is algebrable whenever it is not empty. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of these structures on $\ell^p(V), 1<p<+\infty$. Examples of hypercyclic operators not having a hypercyclic algebra are found. We also study the existence of mixing and non-mixing backward weighted shift operators on any rooted directed tree, with or without hypercyclic algebras. The case of unrooted trees is also studied.

Abstract:Recently, new topological properties that an operator acting on a topological vector space can have were introduced: strong hypercyclicity and hypermixing. We introduce a new property called ultra hypercyclicity, and we compare it to the other common topological properties, including the new ones. For the family of weighted backward shifts on $c_0$ and $\ell^p$, we prove the existence of a strongly hypercyclic weighted backward shift which is not ultra hypercyclic.

Abstract:This paper characterises the subspaces of $H^2(\mathbb D)$ simultaneously invariant under $S^2 $ and $S^{2k+1}$, where $S$ is the unilateral shift, then further identifies the subspaces that are nearly invariant under both $(S^2)^*$ and $(S^{2k+1})^*$ for $k\geq 1$. More generally, the simultaneously (nearly) invariant subspaces with respect to $(S^m)^*$ and $(S^{km+\gamma})^*$ are characterised for $m\geq 3$, $k\geq 1$ and $\gamma\in \{1,2,\cdots, m-1\},$ which leads to a description of (nearly) invariant subspaces with respect to higher order shifts. Finally, the corresponding results for Toeplitz operators induced by a Blaschke product are presented. Techniques used include a refinement of Hitt's algorithm, the Beurling--Lax theorem, and matrices of analytic functions.

Abstract:We present a comprehensive study of algebras satisfying the identity $(xy)z=y(zx),$ named as shift associative algebras. Our research shows that these algebras are related to many interesting identities. In particular, they are related to anti-Poisson-Jordan algebras and algebras of associative type $\sigma$. We study algebras of associative type $\sigma$ to be Koszul and self-dual. A basis of the free shift associative algebra generated by a countable set $X$ was constructed. An analog of Wedderburn-Artin's theorem was established. The algebraic and geometric classifications of complex $4$-dimensional shift associative algebras are given. In particular, we proved that the first non-associative shift associative algebra appears only in dimension $5$.

Abstract:Chan and Seceleanu have shown that if a weighted shift operator on $\ell^p(\mathbb{Z})$, $1\leq p<\infty$, admits an orbit with a non-zero limit point then it is hypercyclic. We present a new proof of this result that allows to extend it to very general sequence spaces. In a similar vein we show that, in many sequence spaces, a weighted shift with a non-zero weakly sequentially recurrent vector has a dense set of such vectors; but an example on $c_0(\mathbb{Z})$ shows that such an operator is not necessarily hypercyclic. On the other hand, we obtain that weakly sequentially hypercyclic weighted shifts are hypercyclic. Chan and Seceleanu have moreover shown that if an adjoint multiplication operator on a Bergman space admits an orbit with a non-zero limit point then it is hypercyclic. We extend this result to very general spaces of analytic functions, including the Hardy spaces.

Abstract:We investigate a generalization of weighted shifts where each weight $w_k$ is replaced by an operator $T_k$ going from a Banach space $X_k$ to another one $X_{k-1}$. We then look if the obtained shift operator $B_{(T_k)}$ defined on the $\ell^p$-sum (or the $c_0$-sum) of the spaces $X_k$ is hypercyclic, weakly mixing, mixing, chaotic or frequently hypercyclic. We also compare the dynamical properties of $T$ and of the corresponding shift operator $B_T$. Finally, we interpret some classical criteria in Linear Dynamics in terms of the dynamical properties of a shift operator.
