Abstract:Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are digital assets that represent objects like art, collectible, and in-game items. They are traded online, often with cryptocurrency, and are generally encoded within smart contracts on a blockchain. Public attention towards NFTs has exploded in 2021, when their market has experienced record sales, but little is known about the overall structure and evolution of its market. Here, we analyse data concerning 6.1 million trades of 4.7 million NFTs between June 23, 2017 and April 27, 2021, obtained primarily from Ethereum and WAX blockchains. First, we characterize statistical properties of the market. Second, we build the network of interactions, show that traders typically specialize on NFTs associated with similar objects and form tight clusters with other traders that exchange the same kind of objects. Third, we cluster objects associated to NFTs according to their visual features and show that collections contain visually homogeneous objects. Finally, we investigate the predictability of NFT sales using simple machine learning algorithms and find that sale history and, secondarily, visual features are good predictors for price. We anticipate that these findings will stimulate further research on NFT production, adoption, and trading in different contexts.

To achieve the goal, this research work primarily uses machine learning techniques to discover various factors linked to stock market. Machine learning approaches have a successful outcome in extracting information by building together stock market predicting models from stock datasets. To predict stock market, the quarrying of information from these data can be useful. The work is to look at how well the changes available i.e. Cost of corporation, the ups and downs, are correlating with the public opinions being expressed in tweets of the company. The Predictive Power of Social Media Sentiment: Evidence from Cryptocurrencies and Stock Markets Using NLP and Stochastic ANNs

Abstract:Cryptocurrencies are nowadays seen as an investment opportunity, since they show some peculiar features, such as high volatility and diversification properties, that are triggering research interest into investigating their differences with traditional assets. In our paper, we address the problem of predictability of cryptocurrency and stock trends by using data from social online communities and platforms to assess their contribution in terms of predictive power. We extend recent developments in the field by exploiting a combination of stochastic neural networks (NNs), an extension of standard NNs, natural language processing (NLP) to extract sentiment from Twitter, and an external evolutionary algorithm for optimal parameter setting to predict the short-term trend direction. Our results point to good and robust accuracy over time and across different market regimes. Furthermore, we propose to exploit recent advances in sentiment analysis to reassess its role in financial forecasting; in this way, we contribute to the empirical literature by showing that predictions based on sentiment analysis are not found to be significantly different from predictions based on historical data. Nonetheless, compared to stock markets, we find that the accuracy of trend predictions with sentiment analysis is on average much higher for cryptocurrencies.

Abstract:A non-fungible token (NFT) is a data unit stored on the blockchain. Nowadays, more and more investors and collectors (NFT traders), who participate in transactions of NFTs, have an urgent need to assess the performance of NFTs. However, there are two challenges for NFT traders when analyzing the performance of NFT. First, the current rarity models have flaws and are sometimes not convincing. In addition, NFT performance is dependent on multiple factors, such as images (high-dimensional data), history transactions (network), and market evolution (time series). It is difficult to take comprehensive consideration and analyze NFT performance efficiently. To address these challenges, we propose NFTVis, a visual analysis system that facilitates assessing individual NFT performance. A new NFT rarity model is proposed to quantify NFTs with images. Four well-coordinated views are designed to represent the various factors affecting the performance of the NFT. Finally, we evaluate the usefulness and effectiveness of our system using two case studies and user studies.

Abstract:Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) represent deeds of ownership, based on blockchain technologies and smart contracts, of unique crypto assets on digital art forms (e.g., artworks or collectibles). In the spotlight after skyrocketing in 2021, NFTs have attracted the attention of crypto enthusiasts and investors intent on placing promising investments in this profitable market. However, the NFT financial performance prediction has not been widely explored to date. In this work, we address the above problem based on the hypothesis that NFT images and their textual descriptions are essential proxies to predict the NFT selling prices. To this purpose, we propose MERLIN, a novel multimodal deep learning framework designed to train Transformer-based language and visual models, along with graph neural network models, on collections of NFTs' images and texts. A key aspect in MERLIN is its independence on financial features, as it exploits only the primary data a user interested in NFT trading would like to deal with, i.e., NFT images and textual descriptions. By learning dense representations of such data, a price-category classification task is performed by MERLIN models, which can also be tuned according to user preferences in the inference phase to mimic different risk-return investment profiles. Experimental evaluation on a publicly available dataset has shown that MERLIN models achieve significant performances according to several financial assessment criteria, fostering profitable investments, and also beating baseline machine-learning classifiers based on financial features.

Abstract:Cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency using cryptographic techniques in a decentralized system for secure peer-to-peer transactions. It is gaining much popularity over traditional methods of payments because it facilitates a very fast, easy and secure way of transactions. However, it is very volatile and is influenced by a range of factors, with social media being a major one. Thus, with over four billion active users of social media, we need to understand its influence on the crypto market and how it can lead to fluctuations in the values of these cryptocurrencies. In our work, we analyze the influence of activities on Twitter, in particular the sentiments of the tweets posted regarding cryptocurrencies and how it influences their prices. In addition, we also collect metadata related to tweets and users. We use all these features to also predict the price of cryptocurrency for which we use some regression-based models and an LSTM-based model.

Abstract:Non-fungible token (NFT) products are important for industrial applications. In recent years, they have rapidly gained importance in the field of blockchain combined with metaverse. The concept of NFTs has developed gradually, as many industries have begun using NFTs creatively to raise new business innovation opportunities in entrepreneurship. However, few studies have been conducted analyzing critical features of NFTs for success, trends, and challenges in NFT products. In this study, group discussions, case analysis methods, and the OpenSea database were used to analyze fashion trends among NFT products. A mixed method was used in this study. Quantitative and qualitative data derived from the questionnaire and group discussions were analyzed using the case study method, and the actual historical trading data of NFT products obtained from the OpenSea platform were analyzed. This study analyzed NFT products, fashion characteristics, and trends in NFT artwork. The opportunities and challenges of NFT applications and sustainable NFTs are discussed in this study. Our research results show that the most attractive NFT product types are collectible digital works and creative artworks. The critical design characteristics are lovely (cute), beautiful, and interesting. We recommend that NFT makers use the above-mentioned characteristics to create NFT artworks with special design characteristics to increase NFT values. The advantage of NFTs is that makers can freely create their works through the NFT platform, which can decrease the limitations of traditional methods such as the need for venues, exhibition setup costs, and intermediaries' commissions. The major challenges of current NFT applications include usability challenges, security and privacy issues, and governance considerations. We believe that our research results can provide useful directions and strategies for future researchers, makers, and ventures seeking to develop NFT applications. Our research results, such as identifying the critical design factors and current trends in NFTs, can provide guidelines for art design and innovation education. In addition, this study discusses the applications of NFTs in sustainable education, which can provide benefits for sustainable educational development to meet the goal of quality education in SDG4.

Abstract:Real estate mass appraisal is increasingly gaining popularity as a critical issue, reflecting its growing importance and widespread adoption in economic spheres. And data-driven machine learning methods have made new contributions to enhancing the accuracy and intelligence level of mass appraisal. This study employs python web scraping technology to collect raw data on second-hand house transactions spanning from January 2015 to June 2023 in China. Through a series of data processing procedures, including feature indicator acquisition, the removal of irrelevant sample cases, feature indicator quantification, the handling of missing and outlier values, and normalization, a dataset suitable for direct use by mass appraisal models is constructed. A dynamic neural network model composed of three cascaded sub-models is designed, and the optimal parameter combination for model training is identified using grid searching. The appraisal results demonstrate the reliability of the dynamic neural network model proposed in this study, which is applicable to real estate mass appraisal. A comparison with the common methods indicates that the proposed model exhibits a superior performance in real estate mass appraisal.

Deep Learning for Dynamic NFT Valuation

Abstract:I study the price dynamics of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and propose a deep learning framework for dynamic valuation of NFTs. I use data from the Ethereum blockchain and OpenSea to train a deep learning model on historical trades, market trends, and traits/rarity features of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. After hyperparameter tuning, the model is able to predict the price of NFTs with high accuracy. I propose an application framework for this model using zero-knowledge machine learning (zkML) and discuss its potential use cases in the context of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

Abstract:Purpose The primary objective of this research is to provide a precise interpretation of the constructed machine learning model and produce definitive summaries that can evaluate the influence of investor sentiment on the overall sales of non-fungible token (NFT) assets. To achieve this objective, the NFT hype index was constructed as well as several approaches of XAI were employed to interpret Black Box models and assess the magnitude and direction of the impact of the features used. Design/methodology/approach The research paper involved the construction of a sentiment index termed the NFT hype index, which aims to measure the influence of market actors within the NFT industry. This index was created by analyzing written content posted by 62 high-profile individuals and opinion leaders on the social media platform Twitter. The authors collected posts from the Twitter accounts that were afterward classified by tonality with a help of natural language processing model VADER. Then the machine learning methods and XAI approaches (feature importance, permutation importance and SHAP) were applied to explain the obtained results. Findings The built index was subjected to rigorous analysis using the gradient boosting regressor model and explainable AI techniques, which confirmed its significant explanatory power. Remarkably, the NFT hype index exhibited a higher degree of predictive accuracy compared to the well-known sentiment indices. Practical implications The NFT hype index, constructed from Twitter textual data, functions as an innovative, sentiment-based indicator for investment decision-making in the NFT market. It offers investors unique insights into the market sentiment that can be used alongside conventional financial analysis techniques to enhance risk management, portfolio optimization and overall investment outcomes within the rapidly evolving NFT ecosystem. Thus, the index plays a crucial role in facilitating well-informed, data-driven investment decisions and ensuring a competitive edge in the digital assets market. Originality/value The authors developed a novel index of investor interest for NFT assets (NFT hype index) based on text messages posted by market influencers and compared it to conventional sentiment indices in terms of their explanatory power. With the application of explainable AI, it was shown that sentiment indices may perform as significant predictors for NFT sales and that the NFT hype index works best among all sentiment indices considered.

Abstract:Real estate appraisal, which is the process of estimating the price for real estate properties, is crucial for both buys and sellers as the basis for negotiation and transaction. Traditionally, the repeat sales model has been widely adopted to estimate real estate price. However, it depends the design and calculation of a complex economic related index, which is challenging to estimate accurately. Today, real estate brokers provide easy access to detailed online information on real estate properties to their clients. We are interested in estimating the real estate price from these large amounts of easily accessed data. In particular, we analyze the prediction power of online house pictures, which is one of the key factors for online users to make a potential visiting decision. The development of robust computer vision algorithms makes the analysis of visual content possible. In this work, we employ a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) to predict real estate price using the state-of-the-art visual features. The experimental results indicate that our model outperforms several of other state-of-the-art baseline algorithms in terms of both mean absolute error (MAE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE).

Abstract:As CryptoPunks pioneers the innovation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in AI and art, the valuation mechanics of NFTs has become a trending topic. Earlier research identifies the impact of ethics and society on the price prediction of CryptoPunks. Since the booming year of the NFT market in 2021, the discussion of CryptoPunks has propagated on social media. Still, existing literature hasn't considered the social sentiment factors after the historical turning point on NFT valuation. In this paper, we study how sentiments in social media, together with gender and skin tone, contribute to NFT valuations by an empirical analysis of social media, blockchain, and crypto exchange data. We evidence social sentiments as a significant contributor to the price prediction of CryptoPunks. Furthermore, we document structure changes in the valuation mechanics before and after 2021. Although people's attitudes towards Cryptopunks are primarily positive, our findings reflect imbalances in transaction activities and pricing based on gender and skin tone. Our result is consistent and robust, controlling for the rarity of an NFT based on the set of human-readable attributes, including gender and skin tone. Our research contributes to the interdisciplinary study at the intersection of AI, Ethics, and Society, focusing on the ecosystem of decentralized AI or blockchain. We provide our data and code for replicability as open access on GitHub.

Abstract:The ascent of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) has recently garnered significant attention, prompting the need for effective methods to appraise these digital assets. An examination was conducted to ascertain the efficacy of the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in valuing NFTs, considering their unique attributes, notably their indivisibility and blockchain-based ownership. With a two-fold aim, this study conducts a comprehensive evaluation of GAAP’s suitability for NFT valuation while pinpointing the constraints inherent in the existing accounting framework. The proposed remedies encompass the development of industry-specific guidelines (ISG), refinement of NFT categorization and evaluation techniques, timely resolution of valuation complexities, and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) based solutions. Preliminary findings reveal that conventional GAAP procedures offer only partial alignment with the intricacies of NFT valuation, primarily because of the unprecedented nature of NFTs and swiftly evolving market dynamics. This investigation contributes significantly by delving into the subtleties of implementing established accounting principles within this nascent digital asset class. Furthermore, it underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between the accounting and technology sectors to adeptly navigate the ever-transforming domain of blockchain technology and digital assets. This research provides a resource for professionals, regulators, and scholars engaged in the dynamic realm of NFT valuation and accounting.

Abstract:The non-fungible token (NFT) market emerges as a recent trading innovation leveraging blockchain technology, mirroring the dynamics of the cryptocurrency market. The current study is based on the capitalization changes and transaction volumes across a large number of token collections on the Ethereum platform. In order to deepen the understanding of the market dynamics, the collection-collection dependencies are examined by using the multivariate formalism of detrended correlation coefficient and correlation matrix. It appears that correlation strength is lower here than that observed in previously studied markets. Consequently, the eigenvalue spectra of the correlation matrix more closely follow the Marchenko-Pastur distribution, still, some departures indicating the existence of correlations remain. The comparison of results obtained from the correlation matrix built from the Pearson coefficients and, independently, from the detrended cross-correlation coefficients suggests that the global correlations in the NFT market arise from higher frequency fluctuations. Corresponding minimal spanning trees (MSTs) for capitalization variability exhibit a scale-free character while, for the number of transactions, they are somewhat more decentralized.

Abstract:This paper presents a cross-domain trend analysis that aims to identify and analyze the relationships between stock prices, stock news on Twitter, and users' behaviors on e-commerce websites. The analysis is based on three datasets: a US stock dataset, a stock tweets dataset, and an e-commerce behavior dataset. The analysis is performed using Hadoop, Hive, and Tableau, allowing for efficient and scalable processing and visualizing large datasets. The analysis includes trend analysis of Twitter sentiment (positive and negative tweets) and correlation analysis, including the correlation between tweet sentiment and stocks, the correlation between stock trends and shopping behavior, and the understanding of data based on different slices of time. By comparing different features from the datasets over time, we hope to gain insight into the factors that drive user behavior as well as the market in different categories. The results of this analysis can provide valuable insights for businesses and investors to inform decision-making. We believe that our analysis can serve as a valuable starting point for further research and investigation into these topics.

Abstract:Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique digital items with blockchain managed ownership. Ethereum blockchain based smart contract created the environment for NFTs (ERC721) to reach its one of the most important future application domains. Non fungible tokens got more attention when the market saw record breaking sales in 2021. Virtually anything of value can be traced and traded on the blockchain network by minting them as NFTs. NFTs provide the users with a decentralized proof of ownership representation, as every transaction and trade of NFTs gets recorded in the Ethereum network blocks. The value of NFTs is derived from their being non fungible meaning that the token cannot be replaced with an identical token (giving it inherent scarcity). In this paper, we study the growth rate and evolutionary nature of the NFT network and try to understand the NFT ecosystem. We explore the evolving nature of the NFT interaction network from a temporal graph perspective. We study the growth rate and observer the semantics of the network. Here on the observer network, we will run two graph algorithms on the dataset. Lastly, observe and forecast the survival of NFTs bubble by applying the Logarithmic periodic power law (LPPL) model to the time series data on one of the most famous NFT collections CryptoPunks (predicting price increase), which has seen sales of around $23.7 million around mid of 2021.

Abstract:Financial market prediction has profound impacts on trading, investing, and risk management strategies. However, accurate forecasting of asset prices like stocks, cryptocurrencies, forex, and commodities remains challenging due to the complexity, noise, and non-stationarity in financial time series data. This project leverages machine learning to develop data-driven predictive models that can capture intricate patterns and provide actionable insights. Three distinct algorithms are explored - Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) for next-day price forecasting, linear regression for next-day forecasting, and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) recurrent neural networks for predicting prices over a 1-week (7-day) horizon. Extensive historical data from major stock indices like S&P 500, NIFTY 50, top cryptocurrencies, forex currency pairs, and commodities are utilized for training and evaluation. The models incorporate both technical indicators derived from price/volume data as well as fundamental factors and news sentiment obtained from sources like Alpha Vantage API. A rigorous methodology involving data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter optimization, and backtesting on unseen data is employed to ensure the models' robustness and generalization capabilities. Appropriate error metrics like mean squared error and directional accuracy are used for quantitative performance assessment. Additionally, interpretability techniques are applied to the LSTM models to uncover non-linear patterns and understand the key drivers influencing the forecasts. The overarching goal is to develop accurate predictive systems that financial institutions, quantitative funds, and individual investors can leverage for applications like algorithmic trading, portfolio optimization, and data-driven investment decision support across different asset classes and market conditions

Abstract:The intricate and unpredictable nature of stock markets underscores the importance of precise forecasting for timely detection of downturns and subsequent rebounds. Various factors, including news, rumors surrounding events or companies, market sentiments, and governmental policies, can significantly impact stock prices. Nevertheless, the precision of current methods remained insufficient until the adoption of artificial neural network architectures like long short-term memory (LSTM). The aim of this study is to create a precise AI-driven platform tailored for both the Indian and international stock markets. This platform is designed to assist retail investors in navigating digital environments by employing various LSTM algorithms. Its primary goals include predicting stock price fluctuations, pinpointing potential investment prospects, and refining trading strategies. The application aims to leverage advanced LSTM algorithms to analyze historical market data, recognize patterns, and provide real-time insights. It will take past price and process it through LSTM algorithms to take a logical decision. In the quest to broaden retail participation in the capital markets, the effort is to develop an application for novice investors who either have no time in research or are the victims of financial mis-selling and enable them to leverage the technology to their advantage.

Abstract:Forecasting financial market trends through time series analysis and natural language processing poses a complex and demanding undertaking, owing to the numerous variables that can influence stock prices. These variables encompass a spectrum of economic and political occurrences, as well as prevailing public attitudes. Recent research has indicated that the expression of public sentiments on social media platforms such as Twitter may have a noteworthy impact on the determination of stock prices. The objective of this study was to assess the viability of Twitter sentiments as a tool for predicting stock prices of major corporations such as Tesla, Apple. Our study has revealed a robust association between the emotions conveyed in tweets and fluctuations in stock prices. Our findings indicate that positivity, negativity, and subjectivity are the primary determinants of fluctuations in stock prices. The data was analyzed utilizing the Long-Short Term Memory neural network (LSTM) model, which is currently recognized as the leading methodology for predicting stock prices by incorporating Twitter sentiments and historical stock prices data. The models utilized in our study demonstrated a high degree of reliability and yielded precise outcomes for the designated corporations. In summary, this research emphasizes the significance of incorporating public opinions into the prediction of stock prices. The application of Time Series Analysis and Natural Language Processing methodologies can yield significant scientific findings regarding financial market patterns, thereby facilitating informed decision-making among investors. The results of our study indicate that the utilization of Twitter sentiments can serve as a potent instrument for forecasting stock prices, and ought to be factored in when formulating investment strategies.
