Abstract:We consider the problem of extracting tripartite entanglement through single local instantaneous interactions of a separable target system A-B-C with a scalar field. We find, non-perturbatively, that tripartite entanglement is easily extracted in this scenario, in strong contrast to bipartite extraction, which is not possible due to a no-go theorem. The tripartite entanglement is of the GHZ-type, and an optimal value of the coupling exists that admits maximal extraction.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper attempts to address the possibility of extracting tripartite entanglement in a quantum field through a single instantaneous local interaction. Specifically, the authors explore how genuine tripartite entanglement can be extracted through a single instantaneous interaction of three separate target systems (A-B-C) with a scalar field. The paper points out that such tripartite entanglement can be easily extracted, which is in stark contrast to the case of bipartite entanglement, which cannot be achieved due to a "no-go theorem."
### Main Research Content:
1. **Background Introduction**:
- The phenomenon of entanglement in quantum fields has attracted widespread attention in fields such as quantum information, quantum metrology, quantum energy transfer, AdS/CFT correspondence, black hole entropy, and the black hole information paradox.
- Previous studies have mainly focused on how to transfer the vacuum state entanglement of a quantum scalar field to a pair of two-level particle detectors (Unruh-DeWitt detectors) through local, time-dependent interactions, a process known as entanglement harvesting.
2. **Research Objectives**:
- To explore the possibility of extracting tripartite entanglement from a quantum scalar field through a single instantaneous interaction (modeled using the Dirac delta function).
- To determine whether the extraction of tripartite entanglement is easier to achieve compared to bipartite entanglement.
3. **Research Methods**:
- Assume three static UDW detectors A, B, and C in the (n+1) dimensional Minkowski spacetime, and interact with the quantum scalar field through instantaneous local interactions.
- Calculate the density matrix of the final state and use π-tangle as the measure of tripartite entanglement.
4. **Main Findings**:
- Genuine tripartite entanglement can be non-perturbatively extracted through a single instantaneous interaction, and this entanglement is of the GHZ type, with no residual bipartite entanglement.
- There exists an optimal coupling strength value that can maximize the extraction of tripartite entanglement.
- The extraction of tripartite entanglement is easier than bipartite entanglement, even if the first two detectors cannot communicate, as long as they can both communicate with the third detector.
### Conclusion:
Compared to bipartite entanglement, it is possible and relatively easy to extract tripartite entanglement through a single instantaneous interaction. This tripartite entanglement is of the GHZ type, with stronger robustness and richer physical significance. These results provide new perspectives for further exploration of multipartite entanglement and its applications in quantum information processing.
