Abstract:In a recent article, we propose a general geometric notion of initial data on big bang singularities. This notion is of interest in its own right. However, it also serves the purpose of giving a unified perspective on many of the results in the literature. In the present article, we give a partial justification of this statement by rephrasing the results concerning Bianchi class A orthogonal stiff solutions and solutions in the $\mathbb{T}^{3}$-Gowdy symmetric vacuum setting in terms of our general geometric notion of initial data on the big bang singularity.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how to define and understand the initial data on the Big Bang singularity in a symmetric setting. Specifically, the author proposes a general geometric concept to describe the initial data on the Big Bang singularity and partially proves the validity of this general concept by reformulating the results of the Bianchi A - class orthogonal rigid solutions and the T3 - Gowdy symmetric vacuum solutions.
### Main contributions of the paper
1. **General geometric concept**:
- The author proposes a general geometric concept to describe the initial data on the Big Bang singularity. This concept not only has independent value in theory but can also unify the results in many existing literatures.
- This concept includes constraint equations and other geometric conditions and is applicable to the Einstein - scalar field equations or the high - dimensional Einstein vacuum equations ($d + 1$ dimensions, where $d\geq10$).
2. **Specific conditions**:
- For the 3 + 1 - dimensional vacuum case, in addition to the constraint equations, an additional condition needs to be satisfied to ensure the existence of static solutions.
- The specific conditions for non - degenerate static initial data are defined, including trace conditions, symmetry conditions, eigenvalue conditions, etc.
3. **Correspondence**:
- The paper explores how to derive the corresponding maximal globally hyperbolic development from the initial data on the Big Bang singularity, especially in the case of a given specific foliation.
- Specifically, the behaviors of the Bianchi A - class orthogonal rigid fluid solutions and the T3 - Gowdy symmetric vacuum solutions under these conditions are discussed.
### Key formulas and conditions
- **Trace conditions**:
\[
\text{tr} K = 1
\]
\[
\text{tr} K^2+\Phi_a^2 = 1
\]
- **Symmetry conditions**:
\[
K \text{ is symmetric with respect to } \bar{h}
\]
- **Eigenvalue conditions**:
\[
\text{Eigenvalues } p_1, p_2, p_3 \text{ are different and } p_1 < p_2 < p_3
\]
- **Other conditions**:
\[
O_k^{ij}=0 \text{ if } p_k(\bar{x})\leq0 \text{ and } \{i, j, k\}=\{1, 2, 3\}
\]
### Conclusion
By proposing a general geometric concept to describe the initial data on the Big Bang singularity, the author provides a new perspective for understanding these singularities. This concept is not only of great significance in theory but can also unify and explain many existing research results. The paper verifies the validity of this concept through specific examples and conditions.
