Abstract:We present the first simultaneous global QCD analysis of spin-dependent parton distribution functions alongside their spin-averaged counterparts and pion, kaon, and unidentified hadron fragmentation functions. This analysis includes all data relevant for constraining the polarized light quark sea asymmetry $\Delta \bar{u} - \Delta \bar{d}$, in particular the latest polarized $W$-lepton production data from the STAR collaboration at RHIC and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering data from COMPASS, allowing the most robust extraction available with minimal theoretical assumptions. We also extract a self-consistent set of antiquark polarization ratios $\Delta \bar{u}/\bar{u}$ and $\Delta \bar{d}/\bar{d}$ and determine the signs of the truncated contributions to the proton spin from the light antiquarks.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the detailed decomposition of antiquark polarization in the proton spin structure. Specifically, through global QCD analysis, the authors studied the spin - dependent parton distribution functions (PDFs) and their corresponding unpolarized parton distribution functions, as well as the fragmentation functions (FFs) of pions, kaons and unidentified hadrons simultaneously for the first time. This analysis pays special attention to the latest polarized W - lepton production data obtained by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC and the semi - inclusive deep - inelastic scattering (SIDIS) data of the COMPASS experiment to extract the polarization asymmetry \(\Delta\bar{u}-\Delta\bar{d}\) of the light antiquark sea in the most robust way. ### Main problems 1. **Measurement of antiquark polarization asymmetry**: By analyzing the polarized W - lepton production data and other relevant data, determine the polarization asymmetry \(\Delta\bar{u}-\Delta\bar{d}\) of the light antiquark sea. 2. **Simultaneous extraction of spin - averaged and spin - dependent parton distribution functions**: Extract the spin - averaged and spin - dependent parton distribution functions simultaneously for the first time to reduce the influence of theoretical assumptions. 3. **Extraction of antiquark polarization ratios**: Determine the polarization ratios \(\Delta\bar{u}/\bar{u}\) and \(\Delta\bar{d}/\bar{d}\) of antiquarks and determine the signs of these contributions to the proton spin. ### Background The detailed decomposition of the proton spin is an important problem in nuclear physics and particle physics. Although the polarized contribution of the total light quarks has been relatively well determined through polarized inclusive deep - inelastic scattering (DIS) data, the polarization situation of the antiquark sea is still poorly understood. Some early experiments and theoretical models have hinted at the possible existence of asymmetry in antiquark polarization, but these results need more experimental evidence for verification. ### Methods - **Data sources**: Include the W - lepton production data of the STAR Collaboration, the SIDIS data of the COMPASS experiment, other polarized DIS data, unpolarized SIDIS data and jet production data in polarized pp collisions. - **Theoretical framework**: Based on the fixed - order collinear factorization theory, use the DGLAP evolution equations to determine the scale - dependence of PDFs. - **Analysis method**: Use Bayesian inference and Monte Carlo techniques for global QCD analysis, while considering the influence of positivity constraints. ### Results - **Antiquark polarization asymmetry**: A non - zero antiquark sea asymmetry was clearly observed in the range of 0.01 < x < 0.3. - **Antiquark polarization ratios**: The signs of \(\Delta\bar{u}/\bar{u}\) and \(\Delta\bar{d}/\bar{d}\) were determined to be positive and negative respectively. - **Uncertainty reduction**: By adding the latest W - lepton data, the uncertainty was significantly reduced, especially in the region of x > 0.1. ### Outlook Future research will further utilize the data from the Jefferson Laboratory 12GeV upgrade and the Electron - Ion Collider (EIC) to obtain more information about the proton spin structure. In particular, the EIC will provide new information about all polarized PDFs, especially in the low - x and high - \(Q^{2}\) regions. Through these efforts, researchers hope to be able to more comprehensively understand the composition of the proton spin, thereby making important contributions to the development of nuclear physics and particle physics.
