Abstract:We obtain a color-kinematics-dual representation of the two-loop four-vector amplitude a general renormalizable massless $\mathcal{N}=1$ SYM theory, including internal matter as chiral supermultiplets. The integrand is constructed to be compatible with dimensional regularization and supersymmetry by employing two strategies (implicitly defining our regularization scheme): supersymmetric decomposition and matching to massive spinor-helicity amplitudes. All internal vector components inherit their $D$-dimensional properties by relating them to the previously constructed $D\leq6$, $\mathcal{N}=2$ SQCD amplitude using supersymmetric decomposition identities of individual diagrams. This leaves only diagrams with internal matter lines as unknown masters, which are in turn constrained on $D$-dimensional unitarity cuts by reinterpreting the extra-dimensional momentum components as masses for the chiral supermultiplets. We rely on the massive spinor-helicity formalism and massive on-shell $\mathcal{N}=1$ superspace, generalized here to complex masses. Finally, we extend the kinematic numerator algebra to include three-term identities that are dual to color identities linear in the matter Clebsch-Gordan coefficients, as well as two new optional identities satisfied by mass-deformed $\mathcal{N}=4$ and $\mathcal{N}=2$ SYM theories that preserve $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetry. Altogether, these identities makes it possible to completely reduce the two-loop integrand to only two master numerators.

Abstract:We study 1-loop MHV amplitudes in 𝒩 = 4 super Yang-Mills theory and in 𝒩 = 8 supergravity. For Yang-Mills we find that the simple form for the full amplitude presented by Del Duca, Dixon and Maltoni naturally leads to one that has physical residues on all compact contours. After expanding the simple form in terms of standard scalar integrals, we introduce redundancies under certain symmetry considerations to impose the color-kinematics duality of Bern, Carrasco and Johansson (BCJ). For five particles we directly find the results of Carrasco and Johansson as well as a new compact form for the supergravity amplitude. For six particles we find that all kinematic dual Jacobi identities are encapsulated in a single functional equation relating the expansion coefficients. By the BCJ double-copy construction we obtain a formula for the corresponding 𝒩 = 8 super-gravity amplitude. Quite surprisingly, all physical information becomes independent of the expansion coefficients modulo the functional equation. In other words, there is no need to solve the functional equation at all. This is quite welcome as the functional equation we find, using our restricted set of redundancies, actually has no solutions. For this reason we call these results virtual color-kinematics duality. We end with speculations about the meaning of an interesting global vs. local feature of the functional equation and the situation at higher points.

Abstract:We report on progress in understanding how to construct color-dual multi-loop amplitudes. First we identify a cubic theory, semi-abelian Yang-Mills, that unifies many of the color-dual theories studied in the literature, and provides a prescriptive approach for constructing D -dimensional color-dual numerators through one-loop directly from Feynman rules. By a simple weight counting argument, this approach does not further generalize to two-loops. As a first step in understanding the two-loop challenge, we use a D -dimensional color-dual bootstrap to successfully construct globally color-dual local two-loop four-point nonlinear sigma model (NLSM) numerators. The double-copy of these NLSM numerators with themselves, pure Yang-Mills, and = 4 super-Yang-Mills correctly reproduce the known unitarity constructed integrands of special Galileons, Born-Infeld theory, and Dirac-Born-Infeld-Volkov-Akulov theory, respectively. Applying our bootstrap to two-loop four-point pure Yang-Mills, we exhaustively search the space of local numerators and find that it fails to satisfy global color-kinematics duality, completing a search previously initiated in the literature. We pinpoint the failure to the bowtie unitarity cut, and discuss a path forward towards non-local construction of color-dual integrands at generic loop order.

Abstract:We calculate the general planar dual-conformally invariant double-pentagon and pentabox integrals in four dimensions. Concretely, we derive one-fold integral representations for these elliptic integrals over polylogarithms of weight three. These integral representations allow us to determine the respective symbols using consistency conditions alone. Together with the previously calculated double-box integral, these integrals suffice to express all two-loop planar scattering amplitudes in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions -- which we thus calculate for any number of particles and any helicity configuration!

Abstract:The seven-gluon two-loop full-color Yang-Mills amplitude is presented in a compact analytic form where we use the methods of four-dimensional unitarity cuts to obtain the polylogarithmic pieces and augmented recursion to obtain the rational pieces. Furthermore, an $n$-point form for the full-color polylogarithmic piece is presented. We use these results to probe for potential relations amongst the two-loop partial amplitudes.

Abstract:We consider the complete set of planar two-loop five-point Feynman integrals with two off-shell external legs. These integrals are relevant, for instance, for the calculation of the second-order QCD corrections to the production of two heavy vector bosons in association with a jet or a photon at a hadron collider. We construct pure bases for these integrals and reconstruct their analytic differential equations in canonical form through numerical sampling over finite fields. The newly identified symbol alphabet, one of the most complex to date, provides valuable data for bootstrap methods. We then apply our results to initiate the study of double Lagrangian insertions in a four-cusp Wilson loop in planar maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, computing it through two loops. We observe that it is finite, conformally invariant in four dimensions, and of uniform transcendentality. Furthermore, we provide numerical evidence for its positivity within the amplituhedron region through two loops.

An Eight Loop Amplitude via Antipodal Duality

Abstract:We compute the six-particle maximally-helicity-violating (MHV) amplitude in planar ${\cal N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory at eight loops, using antipodal duality and the recently computed eight-loop three-point form factor for the chiral stress energy tensor multiplet. Antipodal duality maps the form factor symbol to the amplitude symbol on a two-dimensional parity-preserving surface in the three-dimensional amplitude kinematics. There are remarkably few ambiguities in lifting from two to three dimensions, nor in promoting the symbol to a function. The amplitude passes many tests, including near-collinear, multi-Regge, factorization, self-crossing and origin limits. These checks also constitute a validation of antipodal duality at eight loops.

Abstract:We obtain the integrand of full-color four-loop three-point form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in = 4 SYM, based on the color-kinematics (CK) duality and generalized unitarity method. Our result not only manifests all dual Jacobi relations via CK duality but also contains 133 free parameters. This suggests the constructibility of the form factor at even higher loops via CK duality. We also find that the planar form factor has a hidden dual conformal symmetry in the lightlike limit of the operator momentum, which is checked up to four loops.

Abstract:In this paper, we take a major step towards the construction and applications of an all-loop, all-multiplicity amplituhedron for three-dimensional planar $\mathcal{N}=6$ Chern-Simons matter theory, or the $\textit{ABJM amplituhedron}$. We show that by simply changing the overall sign of the positive region of the original amplituhedron for four-dimensional planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills (sYM) and performing a symplectic reduction, only three-dimensional kinematics in the middle sector of even-multiplicity survive. The resulting form of the geometry, combined with its parity images, gives the full loop integrand. This simple modification geometrically enforces the vanishing of odd-multiplicity cuts, and manifests the correct soft cuts as well as two-particle unitarity cuts. Furthermore, the so-called ``bipartite structures" of four-point all-loop negative geometries also directly generalize to all multiplicities. We introduce a novel approach for triangulating loop amplituhedra based on the kinematics of the tree region, resulting in local integrands tailored to ``prescriptive unitarity". This construction sheds fascinating new light on the interplay between loop and tree amplituhedra for both ABJM and $\mathcal{N}=4$ sYM: the loop geometry demands that the tree region must be dissected into $\textit{chambers}$, defined by the simultaneous positivity of maximal cuts. The loop geometry is then the ``fibration" of the tree region. Using the new construction, we give explicit results of one-loop integrands up to ten points and two-loop integrands up to eight points by computing the canonical form of ABJM loop amplituhedron.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the two-loop correction to scattering amplitudes in three-dimensional = 6 Chern-Simons matter theory. We use the eight-point case as our main example, but the method generalizes to all multiplicities. The integrand is completely fixed by dual conformal symmetry, maximal cuts, constraints from soft-collinear behavior, and from the vanishing of odd-multiplicity amplitudes. After performing integrations with Higgs regularizations, the integrated results demonstrate that the infrared divergence is again identical to that of = 4 super Yang-Mills. After subtracting divergences, the finite part is dual conformal invariant, and respects various symmetries; it has uniform transcendentality weight two and exhibits a nice analytic structure.

Abstract:Local, manifestly dual-conformally invariant loop integrands are now known for all finite quantities associated with observables in planar, maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory through three loops. These representations, however, are not infrared-finite term by term and therefore require regularization; and even using a regulator consistent with dual-conformal invariance, ordinary methods of loop integration would naively obscure this symmetry. In this work, we show how any planar loop integral through at least two loops can be systematically regulated and evaluated directly in terms of strictly finite, manifestly dual-conformal Feynman-parameter integrals. We apply these methods to the case of the two-loop ratio and remainder functions for six particles, reproducing the known results in terms of individually regulated local loop integrals, and we comment on some of the novelties that arise for this regularization scheme not previously seen at one loop.

Abstract:In this paper we focus on scattering amplitudes in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and define a long sought-after geometry, the loop momentum amplituhedron, which we conjecture to encode tree and (the integrands of) loop amplitudes in spinor helicity variables. Motivated by the structure of amplitude singularities, we define an extended positive space, which enhances the Grassmannian space featuring at tree level, and a map which associates to each of its points tree-level kinematic variables and loop momenta. The image of this map is the loop momentum amplituhedron. Importantly, our formulation provides a global definition of the loop momenta. We conjecture that for all multiplicities and helicity sectors, there exists a canonical logarithmic differential form defined on this space, and provide its explicit form in a few examples.

Abstract:We derive the four-dimensional integrand of the maximal-helicity-violating four-particle form factor for the chiral part of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory at two loops. In our integrand construction, we adopt a special integrand basis with triangle powercounting where each basis element has unit leading singularities on all co-dimension eight residues. This basis was first constructed in the context of two-loop $n$-point scattering amplitudes in $\mathcal{N}=4$ beyond the planar limit and we describe here, how to directly utilize it for the form factor computation. Our result sets the stage for an independent confirmation of the symbol level bootstrap results of Dixon et al.~via direct evaluation. The imminent availability of all relevant two-loop five-point, one-mass master integrals will permit further investigations of a set of marvelous (self-)dualities between form factors and scattering amplitudes in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ in the near future.

Abstract:We evaluated all two-loop conformal integrals appearing in five-point correlation functions of protected operators of = 4 Super Yang-Mills in several kinematical regimes. Starting from the correlation function of the lightest operators of the theory, we were able to extract structure constants of up to two spinning operators for small and large values of spin and the tensor structure label (polarization). We conjectured an universal all-loop behaviour for the large-spin, small-polarization structure constants and comment on the subtleties of analytically continuing it from finite to large spin. We also consider correlation functions of heavier operators that get factorized in the more fundamental object called decagon. We fixed this object at two loops in general kinematics and studied its physical properties under OPE and null limits.

Abstract:The full two-loop amplitudes for five massless states in Type II and Heterotic superstrings are constructed in terms of convergent integrals over the genus-two moduli space of compact Riemann surfaces and integrals of Green functions and Abelian differentials on the surface. The construction combines elements from the BRST cohomology of the pure spinor formulation and from chiral splitting with the help of loop momenta and homology invariance. The α ′ → 0 limit of the resulting superstring amplitude is shown to be in perfect agreement with the previously known amplitude computed in Type II supergravity. Investigations of the α ′ expansion of the Type II amplitude and comparisons with predictions from S-duality are relegated to a first companion paper. A construction from first principles in the RNS formulation of the genus-two amplitude with five external NS states is relegated to a second companion paper.

Analytic two-Loop four-point form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM

Abstract:We compute the two-loop four-point MHV form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in planar ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills (SYM). This form factor is analogous to the Higgs plus four-gluon amplitudes in the heavy-top limit of QCD when translated to the ${\cal N}=4$ SYM context. We obtain the full $D$-dimensional integrands up to two loops via unitarity-cut methods. Subsequently, we utilize IBP reduction to express the result in terms of a set of uniformly transcendental basis integrals, incorporating the two-loop non-planar five-point one-mass integrals recently given by Abreu et al. [PRL 132 (2024) 14]. We obtain the two-loop finite remainder in the functional form in terms of the pentagon functions. The symbol of our remainder confirms the bootstrap results reported by Dixon et al. [PRL 130 (2023) 11]. We perform various non-trivial checks of our results, including the triple-collinear limit, which recovers the two-loop six-gluon remainder. We also show that the form factor has a directional dual conformal symmetry at the integrand level. Our results are expected to shed further light on the study of antipodal dualities and the computation of Higgs plus four-parton amplitudes in QCD.
