Abstract:Our study sample is a superconducting bi-dimensional octagon with different boundary conditions immersed in a magnetic external field H. The boundary conditions are simulated by considering different values of the deGennes extrapolation length b on different surfaces of the sample. Our investigation was carried out by solving the two-band time dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations (TB-TDGL). We analyzed the superconducting electron density and the magnetization curves as functions of H and temperature T in zero field cooling and in zero field cooling processes for different values of b and size of the sample. We found a strong dependence of the critical fields on b and size of the sample.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how the flux vortex state and magnetization characteristics change under different boundary conditions in a two - dimensional mesoscopic irregular octagonal superconductor. Specifically, by solving the two - band time - dependent Ginzburg - Landau equation (TB - TDGL), the researchers analyzed the changes of superconducting electron density and magnetization curves with the applied magnetic field \(H\) and temperature \(T\) during zero - field cooling (ZFC) and field cooling (FC) processes. In addition, they also explored the influence of sample size and boundary conditions on the critical magnetic field, as well as the influence of different de Gennes extrapolation lengths \(b\) on the vortex state and magnetization characteristics. ### Main research contents: 1. **Sample description**: - The research object is a two - dimensional mesoscopic irregular octagonal superconductor. - The boundary conditions of the sample are simulated by different de Gennes extrapolation lengths \(b\). 2. **Theoretical framework**: - The two - band time - dependent Ginzburg - Landau equation (TB - TDGL) is used to describe the system. - The Josephson coupling between the two condensates is considered. 3. **Main results**: - **Single - condensate case**: - The change of superconducting electron density \(|\psi|^2\) under different applied magnetic fields \(H\) is analyzed. - It is observed that as the magnetic field increases, vortices enter the sample, forming a mixed state. - It is found that different sample sizes \(a/\xi\) have a significant impact on the critical magnetic field. The larger the size, the lower the first critical magnetic field \(H_{c1}\). - **Influence of different boundary conditions**: - By changing the de Gennes parameter \(\Gamma\), the influence of boundary conditions on the vortex state and magnetization characteristics is studied. - It is found that when \(\Gamma\) increases, the critical magnetic fields \(H_1\) and \(H_2\) both increase, making it easier for vortices to enter the sample under a lower applied magnetic field. - **Double - condensate case**: - The interaction between the two condensates and its influence on the vortex state and magnetization characteristics are studied. - It is observed that the number of vortices in each condensate is different, forming fractional vortices. - The magnetization curve shows unconventional behaviors, including magnetization jumps and non - monotonic behavior of the mixed state. ### Conclusion: - This research reveals the important influence of different boundary conditions and sample sizes on the vortex state and magnetization characteristics in a two - dimensional mesoscopic irregular octagonal superconductor. - The vortex behavior in the double - condensate system shows complex interactions, forming fractional vortices and non - monotonic magnetization characteristics. - These findings are helpful for understanding the vortex dynamics in mesoscopic superconductors and provide a theoretical basis for designing and optimizing new superconducting devices based on vortex control.
