Abstract:This is a continuation of my work on Arithmetic Teichmuller Spaces (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2106.11452" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.11452">arXiv:2106.11452</a>, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2210.11635" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2210.11635">arXiv:2210.11635</a>, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2303.01662" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.01662">arXiv:2303.01662</a>, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2305.10398" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.10398">arXiv:2305.10398</a>). This paper establishes a number of important results including (1) a proof Mochizuki's Corollary 3.12 (2) establishes a `Rosetta Stone' for a parallel reading of Mochizuki's Inter-Universal Teichmuller Theory and my Theory of Arithmetic Teichmuller Spaces, and (3) a proof that Mochizuki's gluing of Hodge-Theaters, Frobenioids along prime-strips as described in his theory is naturally provided by the existence of Arithmetic Teichmuller Spaces. (4) Includes the geometric case of Mochizuki's Corollary 3.12 in §12.

Abstract:This is a continuation of my work on Arithmetic Teichmuller Spaces developed in the present series of papers. In this paper, I show that the Theory of Arithmetic Teichmuller Spaces leads, using Shinichi Mochizuki's rubric, to a proof of the $abc$-conjecture (as asserted by Mochizuki).

Abstract:This paper deals with consequences of the existence of Arithmetic Teichmuller spaces established in <a class="link-internal link-https" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.11452">https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.11452</a> and <a class="link-internal link-https" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2210.11635">https://arxiv.org/abs/2210.11635</a>. Theorem~9.2.1 provides a proof of a local version of Mochizuki's Corollary~3.12. Local means for a fixed $p$-adic field. There are several new innovations in this paper. Some of the main results are as follows. Theorem~3.5.1 shows that one can view the Tate parameter of Tate elliptic curve as a function on the arithmetic Teichmuller space of [Joshi, 2021a], [Joshi, 2022b]. The next important point is the construction of Mochizuki's $\Theta_{gau}$-links and the set of such links, called Mochizuki's Ansatz in §6. Theorem~6.9.1 establishes valuation scaling property satisfied by points of Mochizuki's Ansatz (i.e. by my version of $\Theta_{gau}$-links). These results lead to the construction of a theta-values set (§8) which is similar to Mochizuki's Theta-values set (differences between the two are in §8.7.1). Finally Theorem~9.2.1 is established. For completeness, I provide an intrinsic proof of the existence of Mochizuki's $\log$-links (Theorem 10.9.1), $\mathfrak{log}$-links (Theorem~10.15.1) and Mochizuki's log-Kummer Indeterminacy (Theorem~10.20.1) in my theory.

Abstract:We review our recent results on holomorphic affine structures on the Teichm "uller spaces of Calabi-Yau manifolds and their Hodge metric completions, as well as their applications to global Torelli theorems for Calabi-Yau manifolds. As corollaries we show that the extended period map from the completion space is injective into the period domain, and that the completion space is a domain of holomorphy and admits a complete Kahler-Einstein metric.

We also prove that a compact Calabi--Yau manifold can not be deformed to its complex conjugate. These results answer certain open questions in the subject. A general result about the period map to be bi-holomorphic from the Hodge metric completion space of the Torelli space of Calabi--Yau type manifolds to their period domains is proved and applied to the cases of K$3$ surfaces, cubic fourfolds, and hyperk\"ahler manifolds.

Abstract:We provide a commentary on Teichmüller's paper "Extremale quasikonforme Abbildungen und quadratische Differentiale" (Extremal quasiconformal mappings of closed oriented Riemann surfaces), Abh. Preuss. Akad. Wiss., Math.-Naturw. Kl. 1940, No.22, 1-197 (1940). The paper is quoted in several works, although it was read by very few people. Some of the results it contains were rediscovered later on and published without any reference to Teichmüller.In this commentary, we highlight the main results and the main ideas contained in that paper and we describe some of the important developments they gave rise to.The final version of this paper, together with the English translation of Teichmüller's paper, will apper in Volume V of the Handbook of Teichmüller theory (European Mathematical Society Publishing House, 2015).

Abstract:These are notes on the hyperbolic geometry of surfaces, Teichm{ü}ller spaces and Thurston's metric on these spaces. They are associated with lectures I gave at the Morningside Center of Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in March 2019 and at the Chebyshev Laboratory of the Saint Petersburg State University in May 2019. In particular, I survey several results on the behavior of stretch lines, a distinguished class of geodesics for Thurston's metric and I point out several analogies between this metric and Teichm{ü}ller's metric. Several open questions are addressed. The final version of these notes will appear in the book "Moduli Spaces and Locally Symmetric Spaces", edited by L. Ji and S.-T. Yau, International Press, 2021.

Abstract:Yuan and Zhang introduced arithmetic intersection numbers for adelic line bundles on quasi-projective varieties over a number field. Burgos and Kramer generalized this approach allowing more singular metrics at archimedean places. We introduce abstract divisorial spaces as a tool to generalize these arithmetic intersection numbers to the setting of a proper adelic base curve in the sense of Chen and Moriwaki. We also allow more singular metrics at non-archimedean places using relative mixed energy there as well.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a $(d\times N)$-matrix. We consider the variable polytope $\Pi_X(u) = \{w \ge 0 : X w = u \}$. It is known that the function $T_X$ that assigns to a parameter $u \in \mathbb{R}^d$ the volume of the polytope $\Pi_X(u)$ is piecewise polynomial. The Brion-Vergne formula implies that the number of lattice points in $\Pi_X(u)$ can be obtained by applying a certain differential operator to the function $T_X$. In this article we slightly improve the Brion-Vergne formula and we study two spaces of differential operators that arise in this context: the space of relevant differential operators (i.e. operators that do not annihilate $T_X$) and the space of nice differential operators (i.e. operators that leave $T_X$ continuous). These two spaces are finite-dimensional homogeneous vector spaces and their Hilbert series are evaluations of the Tutte polynomial of the arithmetic matroid defined by the matrix $X$. They are closely related to the $\mathcal{P}$-spaces studied by Ardila-Postnikov and Holtz-Ron in the context of zonotopal algebra and power ideals.

Arithmetic and metric aspects of open de Rham spaces

Abstract:In this paper we determine the motivic class--in particular, the weight polynomial and conjecturally the Poincaré polynomial--of the open de Rham space, defined and studied by Boalch, of certain moduli spaces of irregular meromorphic connections on the trivial rank $n$ bundle on $\mathbb{P}^1$. The computation is by motivic Fourier transform. We show that the result satisfies the purity conjecture, that is, it agrees with the pure part of the conjectured mixed Hodge polynomial of the corresponding wild character variety. We also identify the open de Rham spaces with quiver varieties with multiplicities of Yamakawa and Geiss--Leclerc--Schröer. We finish with constructing natural complete hyperkähler metrics on them, which in the $4$-dimensional cases are expected to be of type ALF.

Abstract:We first introduce global arithmetic cohomology groups for quasi-coherent sheaves on arithmetic varieties, adopting an adelic approach. Then, we establish fundamental properties, such as topological duality and inductive long exact sequences, for these cohomology groups on arithmetic surfaces. Finally, we expose basic structures for ind-pro topologies on adelic spaces of arithmetic surfaces. In particular, we show that these adelic spaces are topologically self-dual.

Abstract:We continue the study of the analogue of Thurston's metric on the Teichm{\"u}ller space of Euclidean triangle which was started by Saglam and Papadopoulos in [1].By direct calculation, we give explicit expressions of the distance function and the Finsler structure of the metric restricted to the subspace of acute triangles.We deduce from the form of the Finsler unit sphere a result on the infinitesimal rigidity of the metric.We give a description of the maximal stretching loci for a family of extreme Lipschitz maps.
