Abstract:This volume contains the proceedings of HCVS 2016, the Third Workshop on Horn Clauses for Verification and Synthesis which was held on April 3, 2016 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands as a satellite event of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software (ETAPS 2016). Many program verification and synthesis problems of interest can be modeled directly using Horn clauses and many recent advances in the CLP and CAV communities have centered around efficiently solving problems presented as Horn clauses. The Third Workshop on Horn Clauses for Verification and Synthesis was organised with the aim to bring together researchers working in the two communities of Constraint/Logic Programming and Program Verification on the topic of Horn clause based analysis, verification and synthesis. Horn clauses for verification and synthesis have been advocated by these two communities in different times and from different perspectives, and this workshop is organized to stimulate interaction and a fruitful exchange and integration of experiences.

Abstract:This volume contains the papers presented at the 18th International Overture Workshop, held online on 7th December 2020. This event was the latest in a series of workshops around the Vienna Development Method (VDM), the open-source project Overture, and related tools and formalisms. VDM is one of the longest established formal methods for systems development. A lively community of researchers and practitioners has grown up in academia and industry has grown around the modelling languages (VDM-SL, VDM++, VDM-RT, CML) and tools (VDMTools, Overture, Crescendo, Symphony, the INTO-CPS chain, and ViennaTalk). Together, these provide a platform for work on modelling and analysis technology that includes static and dynamic analysis, test generation, execution support, and model checking. This workshop provided updates on the emerging technology of VDM/Overture, including collaboration infrastructure, collaborative modelling and co-simulation for Cyber-Physical Systems.

Abstract:This volume contains the proceedings of the Eighth Workshop on Mathematically Structured Functional Programming (MSFP 2020). The meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Dublin, Ireland on the 25th of April as a satellite event of the European Joint Conferences on Theory & Practice of Software (ETAPS 2020). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ETAPS 2020, and consequently MSFP 2020, has been postponed to a date yet to be determined. The MSFP workshop highlights applications of mathematical structures to programming applications. We promote the use of category theory, type theory, and formal language semantics to the development of simple and reasonable programs. This year's papers cover a variety of topics ranging from array programming to dependent types to effects.

Abstract:This volume contains the proceedings of the Fourteenth International Workshop on the ACL2 Theorem Prover and Its Applications, ACL2 2017, a two-day workshop held in Austin, Texas, USA, on May 22-23, 2017. ACL2 workshops occur at approximately 18-month intervals, and they provide a technical forum for researchers to present and discuss improvements and extensions to the theorem prover, comparisons of ACL2 with other systems, and applications of ACL2 in formal verification. ACL2 is a state-of-the-art automated reasoning system that has been successfully applied in academia, government, and industry for specification and verification of computing systems and in teaching computer science courses. Boyer, Kaufmann, and Moore were awarded the 2005 ACM Software System Award for their work on ACL2 and the other theorem provers in the Boyer-Moore theorem-prover family. The proceedings of ACL2 2017 include the seven technical papers and two extended abstracts that were presented at the workshop. Each submission received two or three reviews. The workshop also included three invited talks: "Using Mechanized Mathematics in an Organization with a Simulation-Based Mentality", by Glenn Henry of Centaur Technology, Inc.; "Formal Verification of Financial Algorithms, Progress and Prospects", by Grant Passmore of Aesthetic Integration; and "Verifying Oracle's SPARC Processors with ACL2" by Greg Grohoski of Oracle. The workshop also included several rump sessions discussing ongoing research and the use of ACL2 within industry.

Abstract:This volume contains the proceedings of the Twelfth International Workshop on the ACL2 Theorem Prover and Its Applications, ACL2'14, a two-day workshop held in Vienna, Austria, on July 12-13, 2014. ACL2 workshops occur at approximately 18-month intervals and provide a major technical forum for researchers to present and discuss improvements and extensions to the theorem prover, comparisons of ACL2 with other systems, and applications of ACL2 in formal verification. These proceedings include 13 peer reviewed technical papers. ACL2 is a state-of-the-art automated reasoning system that has been successfully applied in academia, government, and industry for specification and verification of computing systems and in teaching computer science courses. In 2005, Boyer, Kaufmann, and Moore were awarded the 2005 ACM Software System Award for their work in ACL2 and the other theorem provers in the Boyer-Moore family.

Abstract:CHC-COMP 2023 is the sixth edition of the Competition of Solvers for Constrained Horn Clauses. The competition was run in April 2023 and the results were presented at the 10th Workshop on Horn Clauses for Verification and Synthesis held in Paris, France, on April 23, 2023. This edition featured seven solvers (six competing and one hors concours) and six tracks, each of which dealing with a class of clauses. This report describes the organization of CHC-COMP 2023 and presents its results.

Abstract:This volume contains the proceedings of ICE'24, the 17th Interaction and Concurrency Experience, which was held on Friday 21th June 2024 at the University of Groningen in Groningen, The Netherlands, as a satellite workshop of DisCoTec 2024. The ICE workshop series features a distinguishing review and selection procedure: PC members are encouraged to interact, anonymously, with authors. The 2024 edition of ICE included double blind reviewing of original research papers, in order to increase fairness and avoid bias in reviewing. Each paper was reviewed by three PC members, and altogether 3 papers were accepted for publication plus 1 oral communication, which was accepted for presentation at the workshop. We were proud to host one invited talk, by Jorge A. Pérez. The abstract of his talk is included in this volume, together with the final versions of the research papers, which take into account the discussion at the workshop and during the review process.
