Abstract:We construct an intertwining map from the oscillator representation to the tensor product of two degenerate principal series of G and G′ which form a reductive dual pair in the sense of Howe. We derive results on local theta correspondence for the dual pairs (O(p, q), Sp(2q, R)), (U(p, q), U(q, q)) and (Sp(p, q), O*(4q)), where p⩾q. We also describe the correspondence completely for the pairs (O(p, q), SL(2, R)), (U(p, q)U(1, 1)), and (Sp(p, q), O*(4)).

Abstract:Properties of pairs of product conjugate connections are stated with a special view towards the integrability of the given almost product structure. We define the analogous in product geometry of the structural and the virtual tensors from the Hermitian geometry and express the product conjugate connections in terms of these tensors. Some examples from the geometry of a pair of complementary distributions are discussed and for this case the above structural and virtual tensors are expressed in terms of O'Neill-Gray tensor fields.

Abstract:We give a dynamical proof of a result of Masser and Zannier [MZ2, MZ3] about torsion points on the Legendre family of elliptic curves. Our methods also treat points of small height. A key ingredient is the arithmetic equidistribution theorem on $\mathbb{P}^1$ of Baker-Rumely, Chambert-Loir, and Favre-Rivera-Letelier. Torsion points on the elliptic curve coincide with preperiodic points for the degree-4 Lattes family of rational functions. Our main new results concern properties of the bifurcation measures for this Lattes family associated to marked points.

Abstract:Over a smooth and proper complex scheme, the differential Galois group of an integrable connection may be obtained as the closure of the transcendental monodromy representation. In this paper, we employ a completely algebraic variation of this idea by restricting attention to connections on trivial vector bundles and replacing the fundamental group by a certain Lie algebra constructed from the regular forms. In more detail, we show that the differential Galois group is a certain ``closure'' of the aforementioned Lie algebra. This is then applied to construct connections on curves with prescribed differential Galois group.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the results in [Y. Wang: Affine connections on singular warped products. Int. J. Geom. Methods Mod. Phys. 18(5), 2150076, (2021).] to singular multiply warped products and singular twisted products. We study singular multiply warped products and singular twisted products and their curvature with the semi-symmetric metric connection and the semi-symmetric non-metric connection. We also discuss Koszul forms associated with the almost product structure and their curvature of singular multiply warped products and singular twisted products. Finally, several examples are presented to demonstrate the theoretical results.
On the stability of extensions of tangent sheaves on Kähler-Einstein Fano / Calabi-Yau pairs

Abstract:Let $S$ be a smooth projective variety and $\Delta$ a simple normal crossing $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor with coefficients in $(0,1]$. For any ample $\mathbb{Q}$-line bundle $L$ over $S$, we denote by $\mathscr{E}(L)$ the extension sheaf of the orbifold tangent sheaf $T_S(-\log(\Delta))$ by the structure sheaf $\mathcal{O}_S$ with the extension class $c_1(L)$. We show the following two results: (i) If $-(K_S+\Delta)$ is ample and $(S, \Delta)$ is K-semistable, then for any $\lambda\in \mathbb{Q}_{>0}$, the extension sheaf $\mathscr{E}({\lambda c_1(-(K_S+\Delta))})$ is slope semistable with respect to $-(K_S+\Delta)$; (ii) If $K_S+\Delta\equiv 0$, then for any ample $\mathbb{Q}$-line bundle $L$ over $S$, $\mathscr{E}(L)$ is slope semistable with respect to $L$. These results generalize Tian's result where $-K_S$ is ample and $\Delta=\emptyset$. We give two applications of these results. The first is to study a question by Borbon-Spotti about the relationship between local Euler numbers and normalized volumes of log canonical surface singularities. We prove that the two invariants differ only by a factor $4$ when the log canonical pair is an orbifold cone over a marked Riemann surface. The second application is to derive Miyaoka-Yau-type inequalities on K-semistable log-smooth Fano pairs and Calabi-Yau pairs, which generalize some Chern-number inequalities proved by Song-Wang.

Abstract:Using twisted nearby cycles, we define a new notion of slopes for complex holonomic D-modules. We prove a boundedness result for these slopes, study their functoriality and use them to characterize regularity. For a family of (possibly irregular) algebraic connections E\_t parametrized by a smooth curve, we deduce under natural conditions an explicit bound for the usual slopes of the differential equation satisfied by the family of irregular periods of the E\_t. This generalizes the regularity of the Gauss-Manin connection proved by Katz and Deligne. Finally, we address some questions about analogues of the above results for wild ramification in the arithmetic context.

Abstract:The Steinberg tensor product theorem is a fundamental result in the modular representation theory of reductive algebraic groups. It describes any finite-dimensional simple module of highest weight $\lambda$ over such a group as the tensor product of Frobenius twists of simple modules with highest weights the weights appearing in a $p$-adic decomposition of $\lambda$, thereby reducing the character problem to a a finite collection of weights. In recent years this theorem has been extended to various quasi-reductive supergroup schemes. In this paper, we prove the analogous result for the general linear group scheme $GL(X)$ for any object $X$ in the Verlinde category $\mathrm{Ver}_p$.

Abstract:This paper extends the univariate Theory of Connections, introduced in (Mortari,2017), to the multivariate case on rectangular domains with detailed attention to the bivariate case. In particular, it generalizes the bivariate Coons surface, introduced by (Coons,1984), by providing analytical expressions, called "constrained expressions," representing all possible surfaces with assigned boundary constraints in terms of functions and arbitrary-order derivatives. In two dimensions, these expressions, which contain a freely chosen function, g(x,y), satisfy all constraints no matter what the g(x,y) is. The boundary constraints considered in this article are Dirichlet, Neumann, and any combinations of them. Although the focus of this article is on two-dimensional spaces, the final section introduces the "Tensor Theory of Connections," validated by mathematical proof. This represents the multivariate extension of the Theory of Connections subject to arbitrary-order derivative constraints in rectangular domains. The main task of this paper is to provide an analytical procedure to obtain constrained expressions in any space that can be used to transform constrained problems into unconstrained problems. This theory is proposed mainly to better solve PDEs and stochastic differential equations.
Meromorphic connections, determinant line bundles and the Tyurin parametrization

Abstract:We develop a holomorphic equivalence between on one hand the space of pairs (stable bundle, flat connection on the bundle) and the "sheaf of holomorphic connections" (the sheaf of splittings of the one-jet sequence) for the determinant (Quillen) line bundle over the moduli space of vector bundles on a compact connected Riemann surface. This equivalence is shown to be holomorphically symplectic. The equivalences, both holomorphic and symplectic, seem to be quite general, in that they extend to other general families of holomorphic bundles and holomorphic connections, in particular those arising from "Tyurin families" of stable bundles over the surface. These families generalize the Tyurin parametrization of stable vector bundles $E$ over a compact connected Riemann surface, and one can build above them spaces of (equivalence classes of) connections, which are again symplectic. These spaces are also symplectically biholomorphically equivalent to the sheaf of connections for the determinant bundle over the Tyurin family. The last portion of the paper shows how this extends to moduli of framed bundles.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an algebro-geometric construction of the Hitchin connection in the parabolic setting for a fixed determinant line bundle. Our strategy is based on Hecke modifications, where we provide a decomposition formula for the parabolic determinant line bundle and the canonical line bundle of the moduli space of parabolic bundles. As a special case, we construct a Hitchin connection on the moduli space of vector bundles with fixed non-trivial determinant.

Abstract:We prove that the moduli spaces of parabolic symplectic/orthogonal bundles on a smooth curve are globally F regular type. As a consequence, all higher cohomology of theta line bundle vanish. During the proof, we develop a method to estimate codimension, and consider the infinite grassmannians for parabolic $G$ bundles.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize two results of H. Darmon and V. Rotger on triple product $p$-adic $L$-functions associated with Hida families to finite slope families. We first prove a $p$-adic Gross-Zagier formula, then demonstrate an application to a special case of the equivariant Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture for supersingular elliptic curves.

Abstract:Using the theory of moduli of curves, we establish various slope inequalities for general fibered surfaces. More precisely, we introduce the notion of functorial divisors on Artin stacks and prove a theorem concerning their effectiveness. Furthermore, we consider the moduli stack of reduced and local complete intersection canonically polarized curves and prove that the closed substack parametrizing non-stable curves has no divisorial components. Applying the above theorems to some tautological divisors on various moduli stacks of curves, we obtain several slope (in)equalities, e.g., a generalization of Moriwaki's slope inequality, slope equalities of general fibered surfaces whose fibers satisfy the Morsification conjecture. As applications, we provide a positive answer to Reid's conjecture concerning algebraic Morsification of non-hyperelliptic fibrations of genus $3$ and a positive partial answer to the question posed by Lu and Tan regarding the Chern invariants of fiber germs.

Higher Complex Structures and Flat Connections

Abstract:In 2018, Vladimir Fock and the author introduced a geometric structure on surfaces, called higher complex structure, whose moduli space shares several properties with Hitchin's component. In this paper, we establish various links between flat connections and higher complex structures. In particular, we study a certain class of connections on a bundle equipped with a line subbundle $L$, which we call $L$-parabolic. The curvature of these connections is of rank 1. A certain family of $L$-parabolic connections is parametrized by the data of a higher complex structure and a cotangent variation. The family of connections being flat implies the compatibility condition of the cotangent variation. Higher diffeomorphisms are realized by the gauge transformation induced by changing $L$. Constructing flat families of connections of this kind is linked to Toda integrable systems.

Abstract:There are two canonical projective structures on any compact Riemann surface of genus at least two: one coming from the uniformization theorem, and the other from Hodge theory. They produce two (different) families of projective structures over the moduli space $M_g$ of compact Riemann surfaces. A recent work of Biswas, Favale, Pirola, and Torelli shows that families of projective structures over $M_g$ admit an equivalent characterization in terms of complex connections on the dual $\mathcal{L}$ of the determinant of the Hodge line bundle over $M_g$; the same work gave the connection on $\mathcal L$ corresponding to the projective structures coming from uniformization. Here we construct the connection on $\mathcal L$ corresponding to the family of Hodge theoretic projective structures. This connection is described in three different ways: firstly as the connection induced on $\mathcal L$ by the Chern connection of the $L^2$-metric on the Hodge bundle, secondly as an appropriate root of the Quillen metric induced by the (square of the) Theta line bundle on the universal family of abelian varieties, endowed with the natural Hermitian metric given by the polarization, and finally as Quillen connection gotten using the Arakelov metric on the universal curve, modified by Faltings' delta invariant.

Abstract:We construct a smooth projective algebraic variety $X_{\Psi}$ that compactifies an equivariant vector subbundle of the cotangent bundle of the flag variety of $\mathop{GL} ( n )$ (corresponding to a root ideal $\Psi$). The variety $X_\Psi$ carries natural class of line bundles whose spaces of global sections realize the Catalan functions defined in Chen-Haiman [thesis, UCBerkeley] and studied in Blasiak-Morse-Pun-Summers [J. Amer. Math. Soc. (2019), Invent. Math. (2024)]. We prove the vanishing conjectures of Chen-Haiman and (the tame cases of these of) Blasiak-Morse-Pun, as well as the monotonicity conjectures of Shimozono-Weyman [Electronic J. Combin. (2000)] using the geometry of $X_\Psi$.

Abstract:This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the spectral properties of the connection Laplacian for both real and discrete tori. We introduce novel methods to examine these eigenvalues by employing parallel orthonormal basis in the pullback bundle on universal covering spaces. Our main results reveal that the eigenvalues of the connection Laplacian on a real torus can be expressed in terms of standard Laplacian eigenvalues, with a unique twist encapsulated in the torsion matrix. This connection is further investigated in the context of discrete tori, where we demonstrate similar results.
