Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem for the semilinear wave equation. The Cauchy data are assumed to be conormal with respect to a point, and the source term is polynomial with respect to the solution and its first derivatives. Thanks to the study of multiplicative properties of some refined hyperbolic conormal spaces, we improve the known results about the nonlinear type singularities of the solution. Abstract:In this paper, we study the mixed initial–boundary value problem of Neumann type for the nonlinear elastic wave equation outside a domain. The local existence of solutions to this problem is proved by iteration. To get this result, we prove the existence of solutions for the second order linear hyperbolic system with variable coefficients (in Sobolev spaces) outside of a domain by using linear evolution operators and integro-differential equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the Neumann problem for a class of quasilinear stationary Kirchhoff-type potential systems, which involves general variable exponents elliptic operators with critical growth and real positive parameter. We show that the problem has at least one solution, which converges to zero in the norm of the space as the real positive parameter tends to infinity, via combining the truncation technique, variational method, and the concentration-compactness principle for variable exponent under suitable assumptions on the nonlinearities.

We provide a local version for an existence and uniqueness theorem proved by Darvas, Di Nezza and Lu. Our work also extends a result of Ahag, Cegrell, Czyz and Pham.

Abstract:A family of new Neumann type systems is given in view of the nonlinearization technique, realizing the variable separation of the modified Jaulent–Miodek hierarchy and a new coupled modified Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation on the symplectic submanifold TSN−1. By two Casimir functions and a special solution of the Lenard eigenvalue equation, we deduce the Lax–Moser matrix of the Neumann type systems that yields integrals of motion and the constrained Hamiltonians whose vector fields are tangent to TSN−1. Based on the Dirac–Poisson bracket and a Lax equation on TSN−1, a new systematic way is proposed to prove the Liouville integrability of a family of Neumann type systems synchronously. The Dirac–Poisson bracket and the generating function are used to reveal the explicit relation between infinite dimensional integrable systems and Neumann type systems, and then we point out that compatible solutions of Neumann type systems yield the finite parametric solutions of 1+1 and 2+1 dimensional integrable nonlinear evolution equations and the finite-gap solutions of the Novikov equation.

Assume that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the Muckenhoupt weight class on [Formula: see text], the boundary of [Formula: see text]. In this paper, the authors show that, for any [Formula: see text], the Neumann problem for the Schrödinger equation [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] with boundary data in (weighted) [Formula: see text] is uniquely solvable. The obtained results in this paper essentially improve the known results which are special cases of the results obtained by Shen [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 43 (1994) 143–176] and Tao and Wang [Canad. J. Math. 56 (2004) 655–672], via extending the range [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] into [Formula: see text].
The Neumann problem of special Lagrangian type equations

Abstract:We study the Neumann problem for special Lagrangian type equations with critical and supercritical phases. These equations naturally generalize the special Lagrangian equation and the k-Hessian equation. By establishing uniform a priori estimates up to the second order, we obtain the existence result using the continuity method. The new technical aspect is our direct proof of boundary double normal derivative estimates. In particular, we directly prove the double normal estimates for the 2-Hessian equation in dimension 3. Moreover, we solve the classical Neumann problem by proving the uniform gradient estimate.

Abstract:We consider the following nonlinear Neumann problem:{-Delta u + mu u = u(N+2/N-2), u > 0 in Omega,partial derivative u/partial derivative n = 0 on partial derivative Omega,where Omega subset of R-N is a smooth and bounded domain, mu > 0 and n denotes the outward unit normal vector of partial derivative Omega. Lin and Ni (1986) conjectured that for mu small, all solutions are constants. We show that this conjecture is false for all dimensions in some (partially symmetric) nonconvex domains Omega. Furthermore, we prove that for any fixed mu, there are infinitely many positive solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large. This seems to be a new phenomenon for elliptic problems in bounded domains.

Abstract:In the whole space R-N, we will study the following nonlinear elliptic system in two cases:{-Delta u + V1(x)u = f(x,u,v), x is an element of R-N -Delta u + V2(x)u = g(x,u,v), x is an element of R-N' u(x) -> 0, v(x) -> 0, vertical bar x vertical bar -> infinity.Case 1: The periodic case (i.e., V-1, V-2, f and g are periodic in xi for i = 1,., N), we obtain the nonexistence of nontrivial solutions for the system. The existence result has been obtained in Chen and Ma (2013). Case 2: The non-periodic case (i.e., V-1, V-2, f and g are non-periodic), we mainly focus on the case where the nonlinearities f and g are superlinear at infinity, and we obtain infinitely many nontrivial solutions of the system by variational methods. To the best of our knowledge, there is no work focusing on the system in Cases 1-2. The main novelties of this paper can be summarized as follows: (1) The system is defined in the whole space RN; (2) The potentials V-i(x) (i = 1,2) can be sign-changing; (3) The nonexistence of nontrivial solutions in the periodic case is obtained; (4) Infinitely many nontrivial solutions in the non-periodic case are obtained. Abstract:The solutions to semilinear elliptic partial differential equations contain rich infor-mation about the equations, which is very important for describing the development of various phenomena. The existence of equilibrium solutions of multi-species mutual aid model and the economic equilibrium point can be transformed into the existence of the solutions to Neumann boundary value problems. In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of the solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic equations with Neumann boundary value conditions. Using the topological degree theory and the eigenvalue comparison principle, we obtain the existence of the solutions under the assumption that the nonlinear terms satisfy the asymptotic nonuniform conditions. Using the eigenvalue comparison principle, we prove the uniqueness of the solutions. The obtained results extend and complement some relevant existing works. As an application, an example is given to verify the obtained results.

Using the three critical point theorem due to Ricceri, under the appropriate assumptions on f, we establish the existence of at least three solutions of this problem. Some known results are generalized.
