Analysis on International Competitiveness of China′s Garlic Industry

Abstract:Garlic is the largest category of China′s vegetable export value,meanwhile,garlic industry is China′s export competitive industry,however,the roller-coaster fluctuations in the price of garlic in recent years made China′s garlic industry face new crises.Under such background,firstly,the level of international competitiveness of China′s garlic industry was calculated by index systems, including international market share,trade competitive index and revealed competitive advantage index,not only the tendency of international competitiveness of China′s garlic industry was estimated by dynamic analysis,but also the degree of international competitiveness of China′s garlic industry was held by comparing with top 5 garlic export countries in the world by static analysis.Secondly,factors influencing competitiveness were discussed,such as soared and slumped price,upgrade barriers to international trade,shrinking foreign market demand,low product deep processing rate,disorderly competition and export management,etc.Finally, some policy suggestions were put forward,such as getting into futures market timely,improving deep processing rate and product quality,and strengthening government management functions,to firm and enhance international competitiveness of China′s garlic industry.
