Abstract:Philosophical Psychology is dedicating this issue on trust and trustworthiness to Katherine Hawley (1971–2021) for two reasons. First, she was an expert in the area. Hawley was one of the most relevant voices in the philosophical debate on trust, distrust, trustworthiness, and untrustworthiness. Second, she was a role model for professional philosophers who engage with world problems and collaborate with scientists (Brown, Citation 2023 ). She authored two books for nonspecialist readers (Hawley, Citation 2012 , Citation 2019 ), worked for various non-academic institutions, and collaborated on interdisciplinary projects, offering her expertise on how to be trustworthy (which is the title of one of her books).
