Abstract:In this study, we present MagnoliidsGDB, an integrated functional genomics database specifically developed for magnoliids, a group of plants known for their unique characteristics and medicinal properties. As of March 2024, MagnoliidsGDB has collected 31 genome sequences from 24 species, 149 resequencing datastes from 4 species, 842 transcriptomic datasets from 20 species, and metabolomic data from 15 species. This comprehensive resource allows researchers to explore the genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic variations of magnoliids. The user-friendly search and analysis functionalities of MagnoliidsGDB facilitate the study of genomic variations, gene functions, plant evolution and key metabolites of magnoliids. We hope this database will contribute to the study of magnoliids and increase our understanding of the origin, variation, and molecular basis of the unique biological features of magnoliids.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to provide a comprehensive functional genomics database - MagnoliidsGDB, which is specifically used for studying Magnoliids. Magnoliids have attracted attention due to their unique characteristics and medicinal value. As of March 2024, MagnoliidsGDB has collected 31 genome sequences from 24 species, 149 re - sequencing data sets from 4 species, 842 transcriptome data sets from 20 species, and metabolome data from 15 species. This comprehensive resource enables researchers to explore the genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic variations of Magnoliids. Through user - friendly search and analysis functions, MagnoliidsGDB is helpful for studying genomic variation, gene function, plant evolution, and key metabolites. The authors hope that this database can promote the research on Magnoliids and increase the understanding of their origin, variation, and the molecular basis of their unique biological characteristics. Specifically, the paper aims to: 1. **Provide an integrated multi - omics database**: MagnoliidsGDB integrates genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data, providing researchers with a comprehensive resource library. 2. **Support multiple analysis tools**: The database provides 11 commonly - used bioinformatics tools, such as gene search, gene function, gene correlation, transcription factor, BLAST, KEGG enrichment, GO enrichment, Primer3 Web, genome collinearity, JBrowse, and expression heatmap, etc. 3. **Promote the research on Magnoliids**: By providing rich multi - omics data and convenient analysis tools, it helps researchers conduct gene function research, plant evolution research, and key metabolite research more efficiently. 4. **Solve Darwin's "abominable mystery"**: As plants in dicotyledons that retain some primitive anatomical and morphological characteristics, Magnoliids are of great significance for solving Darwin's "abominable mystery" about the sudden appearance and differentiation of dicotyledons in the Cretaceous. In conclusion, through the construction of MagnoliidsGDB, this paper aims to provide a powerful platform for the research on Magnoliids, thereby promoting scientific research in related fields.
