Abstract:In an article entitled The Counterexample of a theorem in Wiener index of a fuzzy graph and application to illegal immigration networks, we have shown a few examples of incorrect proof of a theorem in the Wiener index. Now, in this article, we will prove it by correcting the desired theorem. We have also used the same method as the author to prove it. There are other methods of proof.

Abstract:Fuzzy data plays an important role in daily life, and fuzzy structured data is usually represented by fuzzy graphs, where the graph structure is used to describe the associated structure of the fuzzy data. Based on the definition of Wiener index on bipolar fuzzy incidence graphs, this article continues to study the characteristics of this distance based topological index. The lower and upper bounds for positive and negative Wiener index of fuzzy bipolar incidence graph are determined respectively, and the relationship of Wiener index between original graph and its subgraph is discussed. The Wiener absolute index on bipolar fuzzy incidence graph is introduced accordingly, and several conclusions are determined in terms of geodesics distance analysis. Furthermore, we demonstrate the equality of Wiener index and Wiener absolute index for two isomorphic bipolar fuzzy incidence graphs.

Abstract:The study of topological indices for fuzzy graphs is beneficial for fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making problems and various connected fuzzy networks. In this paper, we discuss two fuzzy topological indices, namely fuzzy Randic index and fuzzy harmonic index. We establish several upper bounds for these fuzzy indices. We also present the lower bounds of these indices for different fuzzy products, i.e., Cartesian product, cross product and lexicographic product. These results and bounds are established in terms of parameters, like number of nodes, edges, minimum and maximum vertex and edge membership, etc. We also present an algorithm to determine Randic index of vertices of fuzzy graph. Finally, we implement our model of fuzzy Randic index in cybercrime problem for detection of more active criminal who is involved in many crimes with other criminals.

Abstract:The notion of Wiener index has a wide range of application in chemical science and in network science. In this research article, the idea of connectivity index and Wiener index have been introduced in an inverse fuzzy mixed graph (IFMG) with the help of the idea of geodesic. Throughout the article, we have explored the Wiener index of various inverse fuzzy mixed graph structures. Most importantly the relation between connectivity index and inverse fuzzy mixed Wiener index (IFMWI) have been established. It has been shown that connectivity index is less than or equal to the IFMWI for an inverse fuzzy mixed tree containing at-least three vertices. The idea of IFMWI has been also discussed for the inverse fuzzy mixed cycles and investigated some of the important properties. At the end of our discussion, an application is presented to assess teaching and learning outcomes based on specific parameters.

Abstract:The topological index of graph has a wide range of applications in theoretical chemistry, network design, data transmission, etc. In fuzzy graph settings, these topological indices have completely different definitions and connotations. In this work, we define new Wiener index and connectivity index for bipolar fuzzy incidence graphs, and obtain the characteristics of these indices by means of the definition of fuzzy membership functions. Furthermore, the interrelationship between Wiener index and connectivity index is considered.

Abstract:The Wiener index W(G) of a connected graph G, introduced by Wiener in 1947, is defined as W(G) = Σ u,v∈V (G) d G (u, v) where d G (u, v) is the distance (length a shortest path) between the vertices u and v in G. For S ⊆ V (G), the Steiner distance d(S) of the vertices of S, introduced by Chartrand et al. in 1989, is the minimum size of a connected subgraph of G whose vertex set contains S. The k-th Steiner Wiener index SWk(G) of G is defined as SW k (G) = Σ S⊆V (G),|S|=k d(S). We investigate the following problem: For any positive integer n, one can find a tree T with Steiner Wiener index SW k (T)(2 ≤ k ≤ n) or linear array Steiner Wiener index a SW k1 (T)+bSW k2 (T) (a, b is a integer) such that coverage n. In this paper, we give some solutions to this problem.

Abstract:Although the “hot spots” conjecture was proved to be false on some classical domains, the problem still generates a lot of interests on identifying the domains that the conjecture hold. The question can also be asked on fractal sets that admit Laplacians. It is known that the conjecture holds on the Sierpinski gasket and its variants. In this note, we show surprisingly that the “hot spots” conjecture fails on the hexagasket, a typical nested fractal set. The technique we use is the spectral decimation method of eigenvalues of Laplacian on fractals.

Distance Sequences to bound the Harary Index and other Wiener-type Indices of a Graph

Abstract:In this paper we obtain bounds on a very general class of distance-based topological indices of graphs, which includes the Wiener index, defined as the sum of the distances between all pairs of vertices of the graph, and most generalisations of the Wiener index, including the Harary index and the hyper-Wiener index. Our results imply several new bounds on well-studied topological indices, among those sharp lower bounds on the Harary index and sharp upper bounds on the hyper-Wiener index for (i) graphs of given order and size (which resolves a problem in the monograph [The Harary index of a graph, Xu, Das, Trinajstić, Springer (2015)], (ii) for $\kappa$-connected graphs, where $\kappa$ is even, (iii) for maximal outerplanar graphs and for Apollonian networks (a subclass of maximal planar graphs), and (iv) for trees in which all vertices have odd degree.

Abstract:In the original article (Gutman et al., 2014), the authors state that the Wiener index (total distance) of an Eulerian graph is maximized by the cycle. We explain that the initial proof contains a flaw and note that it is a corollary of a result by Plesník, since an Eulerian graph is 2-edge-connected. The same incorrect proof is used in two referencing papers, (Liu et al., 2019) and (Cai et al., 2021). We give proofs of the main results of those papers and the 2-edge-connected analogues.

Abstract:We extend the Wirtinger number of links, an invariant originally defined by Blair et al. in terms of extending initial colorings of some strands of a diagram to the entire diagram, to spatial graphs. We prove that the Wirtinger number equals the bridge index of spatial graphs, and we implement an algorithm in Python which gives a more efficient way to estimate upper bounds of bridge indices. Combined with lower bounds from diagram colorings by elements from certain algebraic structures, we obtain exact bridge indices for a large family of spatial graphs.

Abstract:Introduced in 1947, the Wiener index W(T) = Sigma({u,v}subset of V(T)) d(u, v) is one of the most thoroughly studied chemical indices. The extremal structures ( in particular, trees with various constraints) that maximize or minimize the Wiener index have been extensively investigated. The Harary index H(T) = Sigma({u,v}subset of V(T)) 1/d(u, v), introduced in 1993, can be considered as the "reciprocal analogue" of the Wiener index. From recent studies, it is known that the extremal structures of the Harary index and the Wiener index coincide in many instances, i.e., the graphs that maximize the Wiener index minimize the Harary index and vice versa. In this note we provide some general statements regarding functions of distances of a tree, from which some of the extremal structures with respect to the Harary index (and a generalized version of it) are characterized. Among the results a recent conjecture of Ilic, Yu and Feng is proven. A case when the extremal structures of these two indices differ is also provided. Finally, we derive some previously known extremal results as immediate corollaries.

Abstract:The occupancy fraction of a graph is a (normalized) measure on the size of independent sets under the hard-core model, depending on a variable (fugacity) $\lambda.$ We present a criterion for finding the graph with minimum occupancy fraction among graphs with a fixed order, and disprove five conjectures on the extremes of the occupancy fraction and (normalized) independence polynomial for certain graph classes of regular graphs with a given girth.

Abstract:Many problems and conjectures in extremal combinatorics concern polynomial inequalities between homomorphism densities of graphs where we allow edges to have real weights. Using the theory of graph limits, we can equivalently evaluate polynomial expressions in homomorphism densities on kernels W, that is, symmetric, bounded and measurable functions W from . In 2011, Hatami and Norin proved a fundamental result that it is undecidable to determine the validity of polynomial inequalities in homomorphism densities for graphons (i.e., the case where the range of W is , which corresponds to unweighted graphs or, equivalently, to graphs with edge weights between and ). The corresponding problem for more general sets of kernels, for example, for all kernels or for kernels with range , remains open. For any , we show undecidability of polynomial inequalities for any set of kernels which contains all kernels with range . This result also answers a question raised by Lovász about finding computationally effective certificates for the validity of homomorphism density inequalities in kernels.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the Harary index and the hyper-Wiener index of the H -generalized join of graphs and the generalized corona product of graphs. As a consequence, we deduce some of the results in (Das et al. in J. Inequal. Appl. 2013:339, 2013) and (Khalifeh et al. in Comput. Math. Appl. 56:1402–1407, 2008). Moreover, we calculate the Harary index and the hyper-Wiener index of the ideal-based zero-divisor graph of a ring.

Abstract:Using fuzzy graph theoretical and computational methods, the multidisciplinary discipline of chemical graph theory examines the molecular formation of a chemical molecule as a fuzzy graph and looks into related mathematical questions. An effective tool in this field that links a numerical value to a graph formation is the topological index. The neighborhood inverse sum indeg index stands out as a contemporary index derived from neighborhood degree considerations. Neighborhood inverse sum indeg index is a crucial graph metric that is applied in real-world applications like corporate networking and signalling on traffic. So this index is generalized in fuzzy graph. In this paper, the neighborhood inverse sum indeg index is explored for some fuzzy graphs like a tree, double star, subgraph, star, complete fuzzy graph, complete bipartite graph, etc. . We evaluate the effect of neighborhood inverse sum indeg index value when the vertex or edge is deleted from a graph. Moreover, the relationship between two isomorphic fuzzy graphs are determined. We have determined the boundedness of this index for some fuzzy graphs like , , etc. Also a couple of results are found. We all aware that one cause of global warming is the carbon emission. Finally we have found out the country which needs to reduce the carbon emissions by applying the concept of neighborhood inverse sum indeg index.

Abstract:We establish new versions of the Wiener-Ikehara theorem where only boundary assumptions on the real part of the Laplace transform are imposed. Our results generalize and improve a recent theorem of T. Koga [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 27 (2021), Article No. 18]. As an application, we give a quick Tauberian proof of Blackwell's renewal theorem.
