Abstract:In this paper, we show the following main results. Let (Mn,g(t)), t ∈ [0,T), be a solution of the unnormalized Hk − flow on a closed manifold, and λ1,p(t) be the first eigenvalue of the p-Laplace operator. If there exists a nonnegative constant ε such that in M × [0,T) and in M × [0,T),then λ1,p(t) is increasing and the differentiable almost everywhere along the unnormalized Hk − flow on [0,T). On the solutions of nonlocal 1-Laplacian equation with $L^1$-data

Abstract:We study the solutions to a nonlocal 1-Laplacian equation given by $$ 2\text{P.V.}\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\frac{u(x)-u(y)}{|u(x)-u(y)|} \frac{dy}{|x-y|^{N+s}}=f(x) \quad \textmd{for } x\in \Omega, $$ with Dirichlet boundary condition $u(x)=0$ in $\mathbb R^N\backslash \Omega$ and nonnegative $L^1$-data. By investigating the asymptotic behaviour of renormalized solutions $u_p$ to the nonlocal $p$-Laplacian equations as $p$ goes to $1^+$, we introduce a suitable definition of solutions and prove that the limit function $u$ of $\{u_p\}$ is a solution of the nonlocal $1$-Laplacian equation above.

Topological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis

Abstract:We prove new results on the existence of positive solutions of one-dimensional $p$-Laplacian equations under sublinear conditions involving the first eigenvalues of the corresponding homogeneous Dirichlet boundary value problems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper to use fixed point index theory of compact maps to give criteria involving the first eigenvalue for one-dimensional $p$-Laplacian equations with $p\ne 2$. Our results generalize some previous results where either $p$ is required to be greater than $2$ or the nonlinearities satisfy stronger conditions. We shall apply our results to tackle a logistic population model arising in mathematical biology.

Abstract:In this paper we study the nonlinear elliptic problem driven by p(x)-Laplacian with a nonsmooth locally Lipschitz potential (hemivariational inequality), that is (P){−div(‖∇u(x)‖RNp(x)−2∇u(x))∈∂j(x,u(x)),a.a. x∈Ω,u=0,on ∂Ω, where Ω⊂RN is a bounded domain and p:Ω¯→R is a continuous function satisfying some given assumptions. The approach used in this paper is the variational method for locally Lipschitz functions. More precisely, Weierstrass Theorem and Mountain Pass Theorem are used to prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions. Finally, we obtain the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions of constant sign.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem for the nonlinear equation involving p-Laplacian operator: -Delta(p)u = lambdaf(u) on a bounded smooth domain Omega in R-n. The authors extend part of the Crandall-Rabinowitz bifurcation theory to this problem. Typical examples axe checked in detail and multiplicity of the solutions are illustrated. Then the stability for the associated parabolic equation is considered and a Fujita-type result is presented.

Abstract:This paper is mainly concerned with the following nonlinear p-Laplacian equation $$-\Delta_{p}(x)+(\lambda a(x)+1)\vert u\vert^{p-2}(x)u(x)=f(x,u(x)),\ \ \ \rm{in}\ V$$ on a locally finite graph G = (V, E) with more general nonlinear term, where Δp is the discrete p-Laplacian on graphs, p ≥ 2. Under some suitable conditions on f and a(x), we can prove that the equation admits a positive solution by the Mountain Pass theorem and a ground state solution uλ via the method of Nehari manifold, for any λ > 1. Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study the existence of solutions for Kirchhoff type equations involving the nonlocal fractional Laplacian with critical Sobolev-Hardy exponent where are nonnegative constants and is called the critical Sobolev-Hardy exponent, . Here with is the fractional r-Laplace operator. Ω is an open bounded subset of with smooth boundary and . are continuous functions and f is a Carathéodory function which does not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. By using the Mountain Pass Theorem, we obtain the existence of solutions for the above problem. Furthermore, using Fountain Theorem, we get the existence of infinitely many solutions for the above problem when . We also study the existence of two nontrivial solutions for the Kirchhoff type equation involving the fractional p-Laplacian via Morse theory. Finally, we consider the case and study a degenerate Kirchhoff equation involving Trudinger-Moser nonlinearity. In our best knowledge, it is the first time our problems are studied in this area.
Perron solutions and boundary regularity for nonlocal nonlinear Dirichlet problems

Abstract:For nonlinear operators of fractional $p$-Laplace type, we consider two types of solutions to the nonlocal Dirichlet problem: Sobolev solutions based on fractional Sobolev spaces and Perron solutions based on superharmonic functions. These solutions give rise to two different concepts of regularity for boundary points, namely Sobolev and Perron regularity. We show that these two notions are equivalent and we also provide several characterizations of regular boundary points. Along the way, we give a new definition of Perron solutions, which is applicable to arbitrary exterior Dirichlet data $g: \Omega^c \to [-\infty,\infty]$. We obtain resolutivity and invariance results for these Perron solutions, and show that the Sobolev and Perron solutions coincide for a large class of exterior Dirichlet data. A uniqueness result for the Dirichlet problem is also obtained for the class of bounded solutions taking prescribed continuous exterior data quasieverywhere on the boundary.

Abstract:We prove the solvability of the Dirichlet problem for the variable exponent $p$-Laplacian with boundary data in $W^{1,p(x)}(\Omega)$ on a bounded, smooth domain $\Omega \subset {\mathbb R}^n$. Our main focus will be on an a.e. finite variable exponent $p(\cdot)$ with $n < \inf\limits_{x\in \Omega}p(x)$ and $\sup\limits_{x\in \Omega}p(x) = \infty$ under the sole assumption that $p\in C(\Omega)$.

Abstract:For the $p$-Laplace Dirichlet problem (where $\varphi (t)=t|t|^{p-2}$, $p>1$) \[ \varphi(u'(x))'+ f(u(x))=0 \;\;\;\; \mbox{for $-1<x<1$}, \;\; u(-1)=u(1)=0 \] assume that $f'(u)>(p-1)\frac{f(u)}{u}>0$ for $u>\gamma>0$, while $\int_u^\gamma f(t) \, dt < 0$ for all $u \in (0,\gamma)$. Then any positive solution, with $\max_{(-1,1)} u(x)=u(0)>\gamma$, is non-singular, no matter how many times $f(u)$ changes sign on $(0,\gamma)$. Uniqueness of solution follows.

Abstract:This paper studies nonlinear eigenvalues problems with a double non homogeneity governed by the $p(x)$-Laplacian operator, under the Dirichlet boundary condition on a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^N(N\geq2)$. According to the type of the nonlinear part (sublinear, superlinear) we use the Lagrange multiplier's method, the Ekeland's variational principle and the Mountain-Pass theorem to show that the spectrum includes a continuous set of eigenvalues, which can in some contexts be all the set $\mathbb{R_+^{*}}$. Moreover, we show that the smallest eigenvalue obtained from the Lagrange multipliers is exactly the first eigenvalue in the Ljusternik-Schnirelman eigenvalues sequence. A Nonlocal diffusion model with $H^1$ convergence for Dirichlet Boundary

Abstract:In this paper, we present a nonlocal model for Poisson equation and corresponding eigenproblem with Dirichlet boundary condition. In the direct derivation of the nonlocal model, normal derivative is required which is not known for Dirichlet boundary. To overcome this difficulty, we treat the normal derivative as an auxiliary variable and derive corresponding nonlocal approximation of the boundary condition. For this specifically designed nonlocal mode, we can prove its well-posedness and convergence to the counterpart continuous model. The nonlocal model is carefully designed such that coercivity and symmetry are preserved. Based on these good properties, we can prove the nonlocal model converges with first order rate in $H^1$ norm. Our model can be naturally extended to Poisson problems with Robin boundary and corresponding eigenvalue problem.

Abstract:For a wide class of nonlinearities $f(u)$ satisfying \[\mbox{ $f(0)=f(a)=0$, $f(u)>0$ in $(0,a)$ and $f(u) < 0$ in $(a,\infty)$,}\] we study the quasilinear equation $-\Delta_p u=\lambda c(x)f(u)$ over the entire $\mathbb{R}^N$ or over a bounded smooth domain $\Omega$. Such equation covers various models from chemical reaction theory and population biology. We show that any nonnegative solution on the entire $\mathbb{R}^N$ must be a constant, and for large $\lambda$, any positive solution on $\Omega$ must approach $a$ in compact subsets of $\Omega$, no matter whether or not the solution has a prescribed behavior near the boundary of $\Omega$. We also determine the flat cores of the positive solutions and show that the flat cores enlarge to the whole $\Omega$ as $\lambda$ goes to infinity. Our proof of these results demonstrates the usefulness of boundary blow-up solutions in various classical problems.
The limiting behavior of solutions to p-Laplacian problems with convection and exponential terms

Abstract:We consider, for $a,l\geq1,$ $b,s,\alpha>0,$ and $p>q\geq1,$ the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the equation $-\Delta_{p}u=\lambda u^{q-1}+\beta u^{a-1}\left\vert \nabla u\right\vert ^{b}+mu^{l-1}e^{\alpha u^{s}}$ in a smooth bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^{N}.$ We prove that under certain setting of the parameters $\lambda,$ $\beta$ and $m$ the problem admits at least one positive solution. Using this result we prove that if $\lambda,\beta>0$ are arbitrarily fixed and $m$ is sufficiently small, then the problem has a positive solution $u_{p},$ for all $p$ sufficiently large. In addition, we show that $u_{p}$ converges uniformly to the distance function to the boundary of $\Omega,$ as $p\rightarrow\infty.$ This convergence result is new for nonlinearities involving a convection term.

Abstract:Globally positive unbounded solutions, with zero derivative at infinity, are here considered for ordinary differential equations involving the generalized Euclidean mean curvature operator. When p≥2, the results highlight an analogy with an auxiliary equation with the p-Laplacian operator. The results are obtained using some comparison criteria for the principal solutions of a class of associated half-linear equations.
