Abstract:In the present paper, we prove that the convergence of rectifiable chains in flat norm implies the weak convergence of associated rectifiable varifolds if the limit flat chain is rectifiable and the mass converges also to the mass of limit chain.

Abstract:In this paper we shall establish some results on weak convergence for vector-valued continuous random processes, among which are vector-valued sub-Gaussian processes, vector-valued random processes satisfying Lipschitz conditions, and random Fourier series with vector-valued coefficients. The results obtained can be considered as corresponding extensions of those in the real setting. Our basic ideas stem from Fernique's recent works.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the CR (Cauchy-Riemann) Yamabe flow with zero CR Yamabe invariant. We use the CR Poincaré inequality and a Gagliardo-Nirenberg type interpolation inequality to show that this flow has the long time solution and the solution converges to a contact form with flat pseudo-Hermitian scalar curvature exponentially.

Abstract:Recently, Pipoli and Sinestrari [Pipoli, G. and Sinestrari, C., Mean curvature flow of pinched submanifolds of ℝℙ n , Comm. Anal. Geom. , 25 , 2017, 799–846] initiated the study of convergence problem for the mean curvature flow of small codimension in the complex projective space ℝℙ m . The purpose of this paper is to develop the work due to Pipoli and Sinestrari, and verify a new convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in the complex projective space. Namely, the authors prove that if the initial submanifold in ℝℙ m satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then the mean curvature flow converges to a round point in finite time, or converges to a totally geodesic submanifold as t → ∞. Consequently, they obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:In the theory of flat chains with coefficients in a normed abelian group, we give a simple necessary and sufficient condition on a group element $g$ in order for the following fundamental regularity principle to hold: if a mass-minimizing chain is, in a ball disjoint from the boundary, sufficiently weakly close to a multiplicity $g$ disk, then, in a smaller ball, it is a $C^{1,\alpha}$ perturbation with multiplicity $g$ of that disk.

Abstract:In this paper we shall prove the weak convergence of the associated diffusion processes of regular subspaces with monotone characteristic sets for a fixed Dirichlet form. More precisely, given a fixed 1-dimensional diffusion process and a sequence of its regular subspaces, if the characteristic sets of regular subspaces are decreasing or increasing, then their associated diffusion processes are weakly convergent to another diffusion process. This is an extended result of [14].

Abstract:We prove that every flat chain with finite mass in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with coefficients in a normed abelian group $G$ is the restriction of a normal $G$-current to a Borel set. We deduce a characterization of real flat chains with finite mass in terms of a pointwise relation between the associated measure and vector field. We also deduce that any codimension-one real flat chain with finite mass can be written as an integral of multiplicity-one rectifiable currents, without loss of mass. Given a Lipschitz homomorphism $\phi:\tilde G\to G$ between two groups, we then study the associated map $\pi$ between flat chains in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with coefficients in $\tilde G$ and $G$ respectively. In the case $\tilde G=\mathbb{R}$ and $G=\mathbb{S}^1$, we prove that if $\phi$ is surjective, so is the restriction of $\pi$ to the set of flat chains with finite mass of dimension $0$, $1$, $d-1$, $d$.

Abstract:Aim of this paper is a finer analysis of the group of flat chains with coefficients in $Z_p$ introduced in a recent paper by Ambrosio-Katz, by taking quotients of the group of integer rectifiable currents, along the lines of the the Ziemer and Federer approach. We investigate the typical questions of the theory of currents, namely rectifiability of the measure-theoretic support and boundary rectifiability. Our main result can also be interpreted as a closure theorem for the class of integer rectifiable currents with respect to a (much) weaker convergence, induced by flat distance mod $p$, and with respect to weaker mass bounds. A crucial tool in many proofs is the isoperimetric inequality proved by Ambrosio-Katz with universal constants.

Abstract:The bounded linear regularity property plays a key role in the study of the strong convergence and/or convergence rate of the CQ algorithm for solving split feasibility problems. To establish some sufficient conditions ensuring the bounded linear regularity property for split feasibility problems in normed linear spaces, we introduce the notion of a relative regularity condition and its associated relative regularity constant in spirit of the regularity condition used in Burke and Ferris (1995) [12]. Based on convex analysis techniques, we explore equivalent characterizations of the relative regularity condition, which in particular extend the classical results in Burke and Ferris (1995) [12] from the Euclidean space to general normed linear spaces, and then establish some important and useful properties in terms of the related relative regularity constant. Consequently, we develop a new technique to establish some sufficient conditions ensuring the bounded linear regularity property for split feasibility problems in normed linear spaces. The sufficient conditions presented in this paper are in terms of the relative regularity constant, which seem completely new. Applied to the case of Hilbert spaces, our results extend and improve the corresponding ones in Wang et al. (2017) [35] by relaxing the relevant assumptions.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:G-Brownian motion has a very rich and interesting new structure that nontrivially generalizes the classical Brownian motion. Its quadratic variation process is also a continuous process with independent and stationary increments. We prove a self-normalized functional central limit theorem for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation with the limit process being a G-Brownian motion self-normalized by its quadratic variation. To prove the self-normalized central limit theorem, we also establish a new Donsker’s invariance principle with the limit process being a generalized G-Brownian motion.

Abstract:We show convergence of small eigenvalues for geometrically finite hyperbolic $n$-manifolds under strong limits. For a class of convergent convex sets in a strongly convergent sequence of Kleinian groups, we use the spectral gap of the limit manifold and the exponentially mixing property of the geodesic flow along the strongly convergent sequence to find asymptotically uniform counting formulas for the number of orthogeodesics between the convex sets. In particular, this provides asymptotically uniform counting formulas (with respect to length) for orthogeodesics between converging Margulis tubes, geodesic loops based at converging basepoints, and primitive closed geodesics.

Abstract:In 2014, Gromov vaguely conjectured that a sequence of manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature should have a subsequence which converges in some weak sense to a limit space with some generalized notion of nonnegative scalar curvature. The conjecture has been made precise at an IAS Emerging Topics meeting: requiring that the sequence be three dimensional with uniform upper bounds on diameter and volume, and a positive uniform lower bound on MinA, which is the minimum area of a closed minimal surface in the manifold. Here we present a sequence of warped product manifolds with warped circles over standard spheres, that have circular fibres over the poles whose length diverges to infinity, that satisfy the hypotheses of this IAS conjecture. We prove this sequence converges in the W 1 , p sense for p < 2 to an extreme limit space that has nonnegative scalar curvature in the distributional sense as defined by Lee-LeFloch and that the total distributional scalar curvature converges. This paper only requires expertise in smooth Riemannian Geometry, smooth minimal surfaces, and Sobolev Spaces. In a second paper, requiring expertise in metric geometry, the first two authors prove intrinsic flat and Gromov–Hausdorff convergence of our sequence to this extreme limit space and investigate its geometric properties.

Formal principle with convergence for rational curves of Goursat type

Abstract:We propose a conjecture that a general member of a bracket-generating family of rational curves in a complex manifold satisfies the formal principle with convergence, namely, any formal equivalence between such curves is convergent. If the normal bundles of the rational curves are positive, the conjecture follows from the results of Commichau-Grauert and Hirschowitz. We prove the conjecture for the opposite case when the normal bundles are furthest from positive vector bundles among bracket-generating families, namely, when the families of rational curves are of Goursat type. The proof uses natural ODEs associated to rational curves of Goursat type and corresponding Cartan connections constructed by Doubrov-Komrakov-Morimoto. As an example, we see that a general line on a smooth cubic fourfold satisfies the formal principle with convergence.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss the convergence of distances associated to converging structures of Lipschitz vector fields and continuously varying norms on a smooth manifold. We prove that, under a mild controllability assumption on the limit vector-fields structure, the distances associated to equi-Lipschitz vector-fields structures that converge uniformly on compact subsets, and to norms that converge uniformly on compact subsets, converge locally uniformly to the limit Carnot-Carathéodory distance. In the case in which the limit distance is boundedly compact, we show that the convergence of the distances is uniform on compact sets. We show an example in which the limit distance is not boundedly compact and the convergence is not uniform on compact sets. We discuss several examples in which our convergence result can be applied. Among them, we prove a subFinsler Mitchell's Theorem with continuously varying norms, and a general convergence result for Carnot-Carathéodory distances associated to subspaces and norms on the Lie algebra of a connected Lie group.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate limits as p → ∞ of solutions u p to Finsler p -Laplacian problems − div F ∗ ( x , ∇ u p ) p − 1 ∂ ξ F ∗ ( x , ∇ u p ) = f with f > 0 , coupled with a Dirichlet boundary condition u p = g on ∂ Ω . We prove that the whole sequence of solutions { u p } converges to the limit function u ∞ strongly in W 1 , m ( Ω ) for any 1 ≤ m < ∞ , provided that F ∗ ( x , . ) has some strict convexity on its unit sphere. We also characterize an explicit expression of the limit function.
