Abstract:We introduce a $q$-analog of the higher continued fractions introduced by the last three authors in a previous work (together with Gregg Musiker), which are simultaneously a generalization of the $q$-rational numbers of Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko. They are defined as ratios of generating functions for $P$-partitions on certain posets. We give matrix formulas for computing them, which generalize previous results in the $q=1$ case. We also show that certain properties enjoyed by the $q$-rationals are also satisfied by our higher versions.

Abstract:Using a general q-series expansion, we derive some nontrivial q-formulas involving many infinite products. A multitude of Hecke-type series identities are derived. Some general formulas for sums of any number of squares are given. A new representation for the generating function for sums of three triangular numbers is derived, which is slightly different from that of Andrews, also implies the famous result of Gauss where every integer is the sum of three triangular numbers.

Abstract:In a study of congruences for the Fishburn numbers, Andrews and Sellers observed empirically that certain polynomials appearing in the dissections of the partial sums of the Kontsevich–Zagier series are divisible by a certain <em class="EmphasisTypeItalic">q</em>-factorial. This was proved by the first two authors. In this paper, we extend this strong divisibility property to two generic families of <em class="EmphasisTypeItalic">q</em>-hypergeometric series which, like the Kontsevich–Zagier series, agree asymptotically with partial theta functions.

Higher level $q$-multiple zeta values with applications to quasimodular forms and partitions

Abstract:In recent years, the generalized sum-of-divisor functions of MacMahon have been unified into the algebraic framework of $q$-multiple zeta values. In particular, these results link partition theory, quasimodular forms, $q$-multiple zeta values, and quasi-shuffle algebras. In this paper, we complete this idea of unification for higher levels, demonstrating that any quasimodular form of weight $k \geq 2$ and level $N$ may be expressed in terms of the $q$-multiple zeta values of level $N$ studied algebraically by Yuan and Zhao. We also give results restricted to $q$-multiple zeta values with integer coefficients, and we construct completely additive generating sets for spaces of quasimodular forms and for quasimodular forms with integer coefficients. We also provide a variety of computational examples from number-theoretic perspectives that suggest many new applications of the algebraic structure of $q$-multiple zeta values to quasimodular forms and partitions.

Abstract:The goal of this article is to study some basic algebraic and combinatorial properties of "generalized $n$-series" over a commutative ring $R$, which are functions $s: \mathbf{Z}_{\geq 0} \to R$ satisfying a mild condition. A special example of generalized $n$-series is given by the $q$-integers $\frac{q^n-1}{q-1} \in \mathbf{Z}[\![q-1]\!]$. Given a generalized $n$-series $s$, one can define $s$-analogues of factorials (via $n!_s = \prod_{i=1}^n s(n)$) and binomial coefficients. We prove that Pascal's identity, the binomial identity, Lucas' theorem, and the Vandermonde identity admit $s$-analogues; each of these specialize to their appropriate $q$-analogue in the case of the $q$-integer generalized $n$-series. We also study the growth rates of generalized $n$-series defined over the integers. Finally, we define an $s$-analogue of the ($q$-)derivative, and prove $s$-analogues of the Poincaré lemma and the Cartier isomorphism for the affine line, as well as a pullback square due to Bhatt-Lurie.

A class of non-holomorphic modular forms II : equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals

Abstract:We introduce a new family of real analytic modular forms on the upper half plane. They are arguably the simplest class of `mixed' versions of modular forms of level one and are constructed out of real and imaginary parts of iterated integrals of holomorphic Eisenstein series. They form an algebra of functions satisfying many properties analogous to classical holomorphic modular forms. In particular, they admit expansions in $q, \overline{q}$ and $\log |q|$ involving only rational numbers and single-valued multiple zeta values. The first non-trivial functions in this class are real analytic Eisenstein series.

Abstract:We obtain q-analogues of several series for powers of π. For example,the identity ∑_k=0^∞(-1)^k/(2k+1)^3=π^3/32 hasthe following q-analogue: ∑_k=0^∞(-1)^kq^2k(1+q^2k+1)/(1-q^2k+1)^3=(q^2;q^4)_∞^2(q^4;q^4)_∞^6/(q;q^2)_∞^4, where q is any complex number with|q|<1. We also give q-analogues of four new series for powers of πfound by the second author.
General $q$-series transformations based on Abel's lemma on summation by parts and their applications

Abstract:In this paper, we establish three new and general transformations with sixteen parameters and bases via Abel's lemma on summation by parts. As applications, we set up a lot of new transformations of basic hypergeometric series. Among include some new results of Gasper and Rahman's quadratic, cubic, and quartic transformations. Furthermore, we put forward the so-called $(R,S)$-type transformation with arbitrary degree to unify such multibasic transformations. Some special $(R,S)$-type transformations are presented.

Abstract:We work out the exact relationship between algebraic modular forms for a two-by-two general unitary group over a definite quaternion algebra, and those arising from genera of positive-definite quinary lattices, relating stabilisers of local lattices with specific open compact subgroups, paramodular at split places, and with Atkin-Lehner operators. Combining this with the recent work of Rösner and Weissauer, proving conjectures of Ibukiyama on Jacquet-Langlands type correspondences (mildly generalised here), provides an effective tool for computing Hecke eigenvalues for Siegel modular forms of degree two and paramodular level. It also enables us to prove examples of congruences of Hecke eigenvalues connecting Siegel modular forms of degrees two and one. These include some of a type conjectured by Harder at level one, supported by computations of Fretwell at higher levels, and a subtly different congruence discovered experimentally by Buzzard and Golyshev.

Abstract:We study the mass spectrum and the eigenstates of the scalar sectors in 3-3-1 models. We show that, in one of the models, the physical scalar masses lead to theoretical constraints to the vacuum expectation values. The models allow very light Higgs bosons. One of the neutral scalars can be identified with the standard model one.

Abstract:We provide a framework for relating certain q-series defined by sums over partitions to multiple zeta values. In particular, we introduce a space of polynomial functions on partitions for which the associated q-series are q-analogues of multiple zeta values. By explicitly describing the (regularized) multiple zeta values one obtains as $q\to 1$, we extend previous results known in this area. Using this together with the fact that other families of functions on partitions, such as shifted symmetric functions, are elements in our space will then give relations among (q-analogues of) multiple zeta values. Conversely, we will show that relations among multiple zeta values can be `lifted' to the world of functions on partitions, which provides new examples of functions where the associated q-series are quasimodular.

Abstract:The main object of this paper is to present several (presumably new) transformations of series whose terms involve basic (orq-) Pochhammer symbols together with an essentially arbitrary factor. Each of these generalq-series transformations is shown to be related rather closely to a certain basic hypergeometric summation or transformation formula. Relevant connections of many of the multipleq-series transformations with various known results are also considered briefly.

Abstract:A large number of summation and transformation formulas for a certain class of double hypergeometric series are observed here to follow fairly readily from a single known result which, in turn, is a very special case of one of six general expansion formulas given in the literature. Generalizations and unifications of these expansion formulas involving series with essentially arbitrary terms are presented. It is also shown how the various series transformations considered in this paper admit themselves of q-extensions which are capable of unifying numerous scattered results in the theory of basic double hypergeometric functions.
