Abstract:The Riccati equation method is used to establish some new stability criteria for systems of two linear first-order ordinary differential equations. It is shown that two of these criteria in the two dimensional case imply the Routh - Hurwitz's criterion.

Abstract:This paper presents a condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the quadratic stability of discrete-time interval 2-D systems. With Matlab, it is very convenient to solve this problem. Necessity shows that the condition is less conservative in some cases. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to check the quadratic stability of discrete-time interval 2-D systems.

Abstract:The Riccati equation method is used to establish three new oscillatory criteria for the second order linear ordinary differential equations in the marginal, sub extremal and extremal <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://cases.We" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> show that the first of these criteria implies the J. Deng's oscillatory criterion. An extremal oscillatory condition for the Mathieu's equation is obtained. The obtained results are compared with some known oscillatory criteria.

Abstract:Based on the Lyapunov Stability Theorem for linear systems, a very simple sufficient stability condition is derived for second-order linear systems in terms of the positive definiteness of the system coefficient matrices. This condition generalizes some known result and may have important applications in robust stability analysis and robust stabilization of uncertain second-order linear systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient stability condition for a class of two coupled first-order linear hyperbolic partial differential equations. Through a backstepping transform, the problem is reformulated as a stability problem for an integral difference equation, that is, a difference equation with distributed delay. Building upon a Stépán--Hassard argument variation theorem originally designed for time-delay systems of retarded type, we then introduce a theorem that counts the number of unstable roots of our integral difference equation. This leads to the expected necessary and sufficient stability criterion for the system of first-order linear hyperbolic partial differential equations. Finally, we validate our theoretical findings through simulations.

On the stability of second order parametric ordinary differential equations and applications

Abstract:This work deals with Lipschitz stability for a parametric version of the general second order Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) initial-value Cauchy problem. We first establish a Lipschitz stability result for this problem under a partial variation of the data. Then, we apply our abstract result to second order differential equations governed by cocoercive operators. Furthermore, we discuss more concrete applications of the stability for two specific applied mathematical models inherent in electricity and control theory. Finally, we provide numerical tests based on the software source Scilab, which are done with respect to parametric linear control systems, illustrating henceforth the validity of our abstract theoretical result.

Abstract:We propose a quantitative direct method of proving the local stability for the trivial solution of a rough differential equation and of its regular discretization scheme. Using Doss-Sussmann technique and stopping time analysis, we prove that the trivial solution of the rough system is exponentially stable as long as the noise is small. The same conclusions hold for the regular discretization scheme with small noise and small step size. Our results are significantly stronger than \cite[Theorem 14]{garrido-atienzaetal} and \cite[Theorem 18]{GABSch18} and can be applied to non-flat bounded or linear noises.

Abstract:This paper analyses the stability of two-dimensional three-degree critical nonlinear systems by using the Normal Determinative Function Method, which is a definite derivative function method to judge Lyapunov stability of systems. Two cases are considered, where the pure critical system has a pair of nonzero pure imaginary eigenvalues and two zero eigenvalues with geometric multiplicity one. For each system, the sufficient conditions for stability and the form of Lyapunov function are given.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the oscillatory behavior of solutions of two general classes of nonlinear second-order differential equations. New criteria are obtained using Riccati transformations and the integral averaging techniques. The obtained results improve and generalize some recent criteria in the literature. Moreover, a traditional condition is relaxed. Three examples are given to justify the results.

Abstract:For a two-dimensional oscillatory system with imaginary characteristic roots of linearized equations, a method is proposed that simplifies calculations and does not require the analyticity of the right-hand sides of the equations. The method is based on the decomposition of the vector function of the right-hand sides of the equations into solenoidal and potential components. Integral estimates for the stability of the equilibrium position are obtained.
