Abstract:In this notes, we survey the recent developments on theory of generalized quasidisks. Based on the more or less standard techniques used earlier, we also provide some minor improvements on the recorded results. A few nature questions were posed.

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.

Abstract:Computational quasi-conformal geometry is an interdisciplinary field, which combines quasi-conformal Teichmüller theories from pure mathematics with scientific computing techniques in applied mathematics. Quasiconformal Teichmüller theory studies the deformation pattern between shapes, and hence offers powerful tools to handle a broad range of geometric problems in engineering and medical fields. This survey paper summarizes our recent research results in computational quasi-conformal geometry. In the past years, we have developed computational algorithms for quasi-conformal maps using a technique called the Beltrami Holomorphic Flow. Using computational quasiconformal geometry, we have developed algorithms for practical applications in medical morphometry.

Abstract:We study generalized quasiconformal mappings in the context of the inverse Poletsky inequality. We consider the local behavior and the boundary behavior of mappings with the inverse Poletsky inequality. In particular, we obtain logarithmic Hölder continuity for such classes of mappings.

Abstract:Conformal qc geometry of spherical qc manifolds is investigated. We construct the qc Yamabe operators on qc manifolds, which are covariant under the conformal qc transformations. A qc manifold is scalar positive, negative or vanishing if and only if its qc Yamabe invariant is positive, negative or zero, respectively. On a scalar positive spherical qc manifold, we can construct the Green function of the qc Yamabe operator, which can be applied to construct a conformally invariant tensor. It becomes a spherical qc metric if the qc positive mass conjecture is true. Conformal qc geometry of spherical qc manifolds can be applied to study convex cocompact subgroups of Sp(n + 1, 1). On a spherical qc manifold constructed from such a discrete subgroup, we construct a spherical qc metric of Nayatani type. As a corollary, we prove that such a spherical qc manifold is scalar positive, negative or vanishing if and only if the Poincare critical exponent of the discrete subgroup is less than, greater than or equal to 2n + 2, respectively.

Abstract:In this paper we give a short survey on a problem on extremal quasiconformal extensions. It had been a conjecture for a long time that the dilatations K 0 ( h ) and K 1 ( h ) are equal before Anderson and Hinkkanen disproved this by constructing concrete examples of a family of affine mappings of some parallelograms. The problem also engendered many interesting results. At the end of the current paper, we discuss relationships among K 0 ( h ), H ( h ) and K 1 ( h ) as a concluding remark.
A new class of discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary

Abstract:We introduce a new class of discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary, which have nice interpolations in 3-dimensional hyperbolic geometry. Then we prove the global rigidity of the new discrete conformal structures using variational principles, which is a complement of Guo-Luo's rigidity of the discrete conformal structures and Guo's rigidity of vertex scaling on surface with boundary. As a result, new convexities of the volume of generalized hyperbolic pyramids with right-angled hyperbolic hexagonal bases are obtained. Motivated by Chow-Luo's combinatorial Ricci flow and Luo's combinatorial Yamabe flow on closed surfaces, we further introduce combinatorial Ricci flow and combinatorial Calabi flows to deform the new discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary. The basic properties of these combinatorial curvature flows are established. These combinatorial curvature flows provide effective algorithms for constructing hyperbolic metrics on surfaces with totally geodesic boundary components of prescribed lengths.

Abstract:The purpose of this work is to study the conformal geometry of complete quasi Yamabe gradient solitons, which correspond to an interesting generalization for gradient Yamabe solitons. In this sense, we present a rigidity result for complete quasi Yamabe gradient solitons with constant scalar curvature. Moreover, we prove that quasi Yamabe gradient solitons can be conformally changed to constant scalar curvature.

Abstract:In this paper, by using the concept of the basic (or q-) calculus and a generalized conic domain, we define two subclasses of normalized multivalent functions which map the open unit disk: U={z : z is an element of C and vertical bar z vertical bar <1} onto this generalized conic domain. We investigate a number of useful properties including (for example) the coefficient estimates and the Fekete-Szego inequalities for each of these multivalent function classes. Our results are connected with those in several earlier works which are related to this field of Geometric Function Theory of Complex Analysis.
Discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary (I) -- Classification

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary in an axiomatic approach, which ensures that the Poincaré dual of an ideally triangulated surface with boundary has a good geometric structure.Then we classify the discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary, which turns out to unify and generalize Guo-Luo's generalized circle packings \cite{GL2}, Guo's vertex scalings \cite{Guo} and Xu's partial discrete conformal structures \cite{Xu22} on surfaces with boundary.This generalizes the results of Glickenstein-Thomas \cite{GT} on closed surfaces to surfaces with boundary. Motivated by \cite{BPS, Zhang-Guo-Zeng-Luo-Yau-Gu}, we further study the relationships between the discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary and the hyperbolic trigonometry. Unexpectedly, we find that some subclasses of the discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary are closely related to the twisted generalized hyperbolic triangles introduced by Roger-Yang \cite{Roger-Yang}, which does not appear in the case of closed surfaces. Finally, we study the relationships between the discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundary and the 3-dimensional hyperbolic geometry by constructing ten types of generalized hyperbolic tetrahedra. Some new generalized hyperbolic tetrahedra recently introduced by Belletti-Yang \cite{B-Y} naturally appears in the constructions.

Abstract:Computational conformal geometry focuses on developing the computational methodologies on discrete surfaces to discover conformal geometric invariants. In this work, we briefly summarize the recent developments for methods and related applications in computational conformal geometry. There are two major approaches, holomorphic differentials and curvature flow. The holomorphic differential method is a linear method, which is more efficient and robust to triangulations with lower quality. The curvature flow method is nonlinear and requires higher quality triangulations, but more flexible. The conformal geometric methods have been broadly applied in many engineering fields, such as computer graphics, vision, geometric modeling and medical imaging. The algorithms are robust for surfaces scanned from real life, general for surfaces with different topologies. The efficiency and efficacy of the algorithms are demonstrated by the experimental results.
Piecewise quasiconformal dynamical systems of the unit circle

Abstract:We study piecewise quasiconformal covering maps of the unit circle. We provide sufficient conditions so that a conjugacy between two such dynamical systems has a quasiconformal or David extension to the unit disk. Our main result generalizes the main result of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2010.11256" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2010.11256">arXiv:2010.11256</a>, which deals with piecewise analytic maps. As applications, we provide a classification of piecewise quasiconformal maps of the circle up to quasisymmetric conjugacy, we prove a general conformal mating theorem for Blaschke products, and we study the quasiconformal geometry of parabolic basins.

Abstract:The classical Bohr theorem and its subsequent generalizations have become active areas of research, with investigations conducted in numerous function spaces. Let $\{\psi_n(r)\}_{n=0}^\infty$ be a sequence of non-negative continuous functions defined on $[0,1)$ such that the series $\sum_{n=0}^\infty \psi_n(r)$ converges locally uniformly on the interval $[0, 1)$. The main objective of this paper is to establish several sharp versions of generalized Bohr inequalities for the class of $K$-quasiconformal sense-preserving harmonic mappings on the unit disk $\D := \{z \in \mathbb{C} : |z| < 1\}$. To achieve these, we employ the sequence of functions $\{\psi_n(r)\}_{n=0}^\infty$ in the majorant series rather than the conventional dependence on the basis sequence $\{r^n\}_{n=0}^\infty$. As applications, we derive a number of previously published results as well as a number of sharply improved and refined Bohr inequalities for harmonic mappings in $\D$. Moreover, we obtain a convolution counterpart of the Bohr theorem for harmonic mapping within the context of the Gaussian hypergeometric function

Abstract:In this paper, we attempt to give a unified approach to the existing several versions of Ekeland’s variational principle. In the framework of uniform spaces, we introduce p-distances and more generally, q-distances. Then we introduce a new type of completeness for uniform spaces, i.e., sequential completeness with respect to a q-distance (particularly, a p-distance), which is a very extensive concept of completeness. By using q-distances and the new type of completeness, we prove a generalized Takahashi’s nonconvex minimization theorem, a generalized Ekeland’s variational principle and a generalized Caristi’s fixed point theorem. Moreover, we show that the above three theorems are equivalent to each other. From the generalized Ekeland’s variational principle, we deduce a number of particular versions of Ekeland’s principle, which include many known versions of the principle and their improvements.

Abstract:We revisit the theory of first-order quasilinear systems with diagonalizable principal part and only real eigenvalues, what is commonly referred to as strongly hyperbolic systems. We provide a self-contained and simple proof of local well-posedness, in the Hadamard sense, of the Cauchy problem. Our regularity assumptions are very minimal. As an application, we apply our results to systems of ideal and viscous relativistic fluids, where the theory of strongly hyperbolic equations has been systematically used to study several systems of physical interest.

Deformation of discrete conformal structures on surfaces

Abstract:Glickenstein introduced the discrete conformal structures on polyhedral surfaces in an axiomatic approach from Riemannian geometry perspective. It includes Thurston's circle packings, Bowers-Stephenson's inversive distance circle packings and Luo's vertex scalings as special cases. In this paper, we study the deformation of Glickenstein's discrete conformal structures by combinatorial curvature flows. The combinatorial Ricci flow for Glickenstein's discrete conformal structures on triangulated surfaces is a generalization of Chow-Luo's combinatorial Ricci flow for Thurston's circle packings and Luo's combinatorial Yamabe flow for vertex scalings. We prove that the solution of the combinatorial Ricci flow for Glickenstein's discrete conformal structures on triangulated surfaces can be uniquely extended. Furthermore, under some necessary conditions, we prove that the solution of the extended combinatorial Ricci flow on a triangulated surface exists for all time and converges exponentially fast for any initial value. We further introduce the combinatorial Calabi flow for Glickenstein's discrete conformal structures on triangulated surfaces and study the basic properties of the flow. These combinatorial curvature flows provide effective algorithms for finding piecewise constant curvature metrics on surfaces with prescribed combinatorial curvatures.

Abstract:The paper proves a result on the convergence of discrete conformal maps to the Riemann mappings for Jordan domains. It is a counterpart of Rodin-Sullivan's theorem on convergence of circle packing mappings to the Riemann mapping in the new setting of discrete conformality. The proof follows the same strategy that Rodin-Sullivan used by establishing a rigidity result for regular hexagonal triangulations of the plane and estimating the quasiconformal constants associated to the discrete conformal maps.
