Abstract:The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation perturbed by a multiplicative space-dependent noise is considered for a ferromagnet filling a bounded three-dimensional domain. We show the existence of weak martingale solutions taking values in a sphere $\mathbb S^2$. The regularity of weak solutions is also discussed. Some of the regularity results are new even for the deterministic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we describe several stationary conditions on weak solutions to the inhomogeneous Landau-Lifshitz equation, which ensure the partial regularity. For certain class of proper stationary weak solutions, a compactness result of the solutions, a finite Hausdorff measure result of the t -slice energy concentration sets and an asymptotic limit result of the Radon measures are proved. We also present a subtle rectifiability result for the energy concentration set of certain sequence of strong stationary weak solutions.

Abstract:In this paper we study the model that the usual Maxwell's equations are supplemented with a constitution relation in which the electric displacement equals a constant time the electric field plus an internal polarization variable and the magnetic displacement equals a constant time the magnetic field plus the microscopic magnetization. Using the Galerkin method and viscosity vanishing approach, we obtain the existence of the global weak solution for the Landau-Lifshitz-Maxwell equations. The main difficulties in this study are due to the loss of compactness in the system.

Abstract:By considering a general form of the Landau-Lifshitz equation under the influence of a homogeneous external magnetic fields, we prove that for a ferromagnetic body which occupies a bounded domain Ω in ℝ3 there exists a global weak solution either for the Dirichlet problem or for the Neumann problem. Although there is, in general, non-uniqueness result for the Landau-Lifshitz equation, the uniqueness result for the dynamic equation with constant initial data, which connects with the ground state of the magnetization in physical meanings, is pointed out.

Abstract:The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation describes the evolution of spin fields in continuum ferromagnetics. The present paper consists of two parts. The first one is to prove the local existence of smooth solution to the Landau-Lifshitz-Maxwell systems in dimensions three. The second is to prove the finite time blow up of solutions for these systems. Abstract:The quasi-static Maxwell–Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equations which describe the electromagnetic behaviour of a ferromagnetic material are highly nonlinear. Sophisticated numerical schemes are required to solve the equations, given their nonlinearity and the constraint that the solution stays on a sphere. We propose an implicit finite element solution to the problem. The resulting system of algebraic equations is linear which facilitates the solution process compared to nonlinear methods. Abstract:This thesis deals with the mathematical theory and numerical approximation of the Landau--Lifshitz--Gilbert equation coupled to the Maxwell equations without artificial boundary conditions. As a starting point, the physical equations are stated on the unbounded three dimensional space and reformulated in a mathematically precise way to a coupled partial differential -- boundary integral system. We derive a weak form of the whole coupled system, state the relation to the strong form and show uniqueness of the Maxwell part of the solution. A numerical algorithm is proposed based on the tangent plane scheme for the LLG part and using a finite element and boundary element coupling as spatial discretization and the backward Euler method and Convolution Quadrature as time discretization for the interior Maxwell part and the boundary, respectively. Under minimal assumptions on the regularity of solutions, we present well-posedness and convergence of the numerical algorithm. For the pure Maxwell equations without the coupling to the LLG equation, we are able to show stronger results than in the coupled case. We derive a weak form for the Maxwell transmission problem and demonstrate existence and uniqueness of the weak solutions as well as equivalence with a strong solution. The proposed algorithm of finite-element/ boundary-element coupling via Convolution Quadrature converges with only minimal assumptions on the regularity of the input data. Again for the full Maxwell--LLG system, we show a-priori error bounds in the situation of a sufficiently regular solution. This is done by a combination of the known linearly implicit backward difference formula time discretizations with higher order non-conforming finite element space discretizations for the LLG equation and the leapfrog and Convolution Quadrature time discretization with higher order discontinuous Galerkin elements and continuous boundary elements for the boundary integral formulation of Maxwell's equations. The precise method of coupling allows us to solve the system at the cost of the individual parts, with the same convergence rates under the same regularity assumptions and the same CFL conditions as for an uncoupled examination. Numerical experiments illustrate and expand on the theoretical results and demonstrate the applicability of the methods. For the formulation of the boundary integral equations, the study of the Laplace transform is inevitable. We collect and extend the properties of the Laplace transform from literature. In the suitable functional analytic setting, we give extensive proofs in a self contained way of all the required properties.

For two reduced Maxwell equations, Holder continuity of del u away from Sigma is also established.

Abstract:We propose an unconditionally convergent linear finite element scheme for the stochastic Landau--Lifshitz--Gilbert (LLG) equation with multi-dimensional noise. By using the Doss-Sussmann technique, we first transform the stochastic LLG equation into a partial differential equation that depends on the solution of the auxiliary equation for the diffusion part. The resulting equation has solutions absolutely continuous with respect to time. We then propose a convergent $\theta$-linear scheme for the numerical solution of the reformulated equation. As a consequence, we are able to show the existence of weak martingale solutions to the stochastic LLG equation.

Abstract:The full Maxwell equations in the unbounded three-dimensional space coupled to the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation serve as a well-tested model for ferromagnetic materials. We propose a weak formulation of the coupled system based on the boundary integral formulation of the exterior Maxwell equations. We show existence and partial uniqueness of a weak solution and propose a new numerical algorithm based on finite elements and boundary elements as spatial discretization with backward Euler and convolution quadrature for the time domain. This is the first numerical algorithm which is able to deal with the coupled system of Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation and full Maxwell's equations without any simplifications like quasi-static approximations (e.g. eddy current model) and without restrictions on the shape of the domain (e.g. convexity). We show well-posedness and convergence of the numerical algorithm under minimal assumptions on the regularity of the solution. This is particularly important as there are few regularity results available and one generally expects the solution to be non-smooth. Numerical experiments illustrate and expand on the theoretical results.

Abstract:Spin currents act on ferromagnets by exerting a torque on the magnetisation. This torque is modelled by appending additional terms to the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation motivating the study of the non-homogeneous Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of high regularity local solutions to this equation using the Faedo-Galerkin method. Then we construct a numerical method for the problem and prove that it converges to a global weak solution of the PDE. Numerical simulations of the problem are also included.

We derive the covariant complex Ginzburg-Landau equation by using moving frames to address the nonlinear parts. Applying the semigroup estimates and energy methods, we extend local classical solutions to global solutions and prove the boundedness of $\|\nabla\boldsymbol{m}\|_{L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{3})}$, where $\boldsymbol{m}$ is the magnetic intensity. Moreover, we obtain a global weak solution by using an approximation result and improve the regularity of the obtained solution by the regularity theory. Finally, we establish the existence and uniqueness of global smooth solutions under some conditions on $\nabla\boldsymbol{m}_{0}$ and the density of the spin-polarized current.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the system of the non‐isentropic compressible Navier–Stokes equations coupled with the Maxwell equations through the Lorentz force in three space dimensions. The global existence of solutions near constant steady states is established, and the time‐decay rates of perturbed solutions are obtained. The proof for existence is due to the classical energy method, and the investigation of large‐time behavior is based on the linearized analysis of the non‐isentropic Navier–Stokes–Poisson equations and the electromagnetic part for the linearized isentropic Navier–Stokes–Maxwell equations. In the meantime, the time‐decay rates obtained by Zhang, Li, and Zhu [J. Differential Equations, 250(2011), 866‐891] for the linearized non‐isentropic Navier–Stokes–Poisson equations are improved. Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to look for solutions of the following nonlinear Maxwell system: where Ω⊂ℝ^3 is a bounded domain with exterior normal ν :∂Ω→ℝ^3 , ∇× denotes the curl operator in ℝ^3 , V_1 , V_2:Ω→ℝ are two continuous functions, μ _1 , μ _2 and λ are constants, 2<p<6 , α ,β >1 and α +β =p . By using some variational approach, we will show that there exists a ground state solution for system (M). Moreover, if Ω is a cylindrical symmetric domain, then system (M) has infinite bound state solutions with cylindrical symmetry.

Abstract:On the three dimensional Euclidean space, for data with finite energy, it is well-known that the Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equations admit global solutions. However, the asymptotic behaviours of the solutions for the data with non-vanishing charge and arbitrary large size are unknown. It is conjectured that the solutions disperse as linear waves and enjoy the so-called peeling properties for pointwise estimates. We provide a gauge independent proof of the conjecture.

Moreover, the exponential time decay of the solutions is obtained.
