Abstract:This paper studies equable parallelograms whose vertices lie on the Eisenstein lattice. Using Rosenberger's Theorem on generalised Markov equations, we show that the set of these parallelograms forms naturally an infinite tree, all of whose vertices have degree 4, bar the root which has degree 3. This study naturally complements the authors' previous study of equable parallelograms whose vertices lie on the integer lattice.

Abstract:We study the Ehrhart theory of quadratic irrational polytopes that undergo vector dilations. That is, for a given polytope with vertices in $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{D})$, and a different dilation factor for each facet, we show that the leading term of the lattice-point count behaves similar to an Ehrhart polynomial, generalizing previous work of Borda on scalar dilations of quadratic irrational polytopes. As a result, a form of the Ehrhart-Macdonald reciprocity law is obtained for the leading term.

Abstract:We show that interlacing triangular arrays, introduced by Aggarwal-Borodin-Wheeler to study certain probability measures, can be used to compute structure constants for multiplying Schubert classes in the $K$-theory of Grassmannians, in the cohomology of their cotangent bundles, and in the cohomology of partial flag varieties. Our results are achieved by establishing a splitting lemma, allowing for interlacing triangular arrays of high rank to be decomposed into arrays of lower rank, and by constructing a bijection between interlacing triangular arrays of rank 3 with certain proper vertex colorings of the triangular grid graph that factors through generalizations of Knutson-Tao puzzles. Along the way, we prove one enumerative conjecture of Aggarwal-Borodin-Wheeler and disprove another.

Abstract:From a stable vector of a stable grading on a simple Lie algebra, Yun defined a rigid automorphic datum that encodes a epipelagic representation, and also an irregular connection on the projective line called $\theta$-connection. We show that under geometric Langlands correspondence, $\theta$-connection corresponds to the Hecke eigensheaf attached the rigid automorphic datum, assuming the stable grading is inner and its Kac coordinate $s_0$ is positive. We provide numerous applications of the main result including physical and cohomological rigidity of $\theta$-connections, global oper structures, and a de Rham analog of Reeder-Yu's predictions on epipelagic Langlands parameters.

Strongly Obtuse Rational Lattice Triangles

Abstract:We classify rational triangles which unfold to Veech surfaces when the largest angle is at least $\frac{3\pi}{4}$. When the largest angle is greater than $\frac{2\pi}{3}$, we show that the unfolding is not Veech except possibly if it belongs to one of six infinite families. Our methods include a criterion of Mirzakhani and Wright that built on work of Möller and McMullen, and in most cases show that the orbit closure of the unfolding cannot have rank 1.

Abstract:We prove that the set of quadratic growths achievable by integer superharmonic functions on the F-lattice, a periodic subgraph of the square lattice with oriented edges, has the structure of an overlapping circle packing. The proof recursively constructs a distinct pair of recurrent functions for each rational point on a hyperbola. This proves a conjecture of Smart (2013) and completely describes the scaling limit of the Abelian sandpile on the F-lattice.

Abstract:Given a lattice polytope $P$ and a prime $p$, we define a function from the set of primitive symplectic $p$-adic lattices to the rationals that extracts the $\ell$th coefficient of the Ehrhart polynomial of $P$ relative to the given lattice. Inspired by work of Gunnells and Rodriguez-Villegas in type $\mathsf{A}$, we show that these functions are eigenfunctions of a suitably defined action of the spherical symplectic Hecke algebra. Although they depend significantly on the polytope $P$, their eigenvalues are independent of $P$ and expressed as polynomials in $p$. We define local zeta functions that enumerate the values of these Hecke eigenfunctions on the vertices of the affine Bruhat--Tits buildings associated with $p$-adic symplectic groups. We compute these zeta functions by enumerating $p$-adic lattices by their elementary divisors and, simultaneously, one Hermite parameter. We report on a general functional equation satisfied by these local zeta functions, confirming a conjecture of Vankov.

Abstract:A natural way to describe the Penrose tiling employs the projection method on the basis of the root lattice A4 or its dual. Properties of these lattices are thus related to properties of the Penrose tiling. Moreover, the root lattice A4 appears in various other contexts such as sphere packings, efficient coding schemes and lattice quantizers. Here, the lattice A4 is considered within the icosian ring, whose rich arithmetic structure leads to parametrisations of the similar sublattices and the coincidence rotations of A4 and its dual lattice. These parametrisations, both in terms of a single icosian, imply an index formula for the corresponding sublattices. The results are encapsulated in Dirichlet series generating functions. For every index, they provide the number of distinct similar sublattices as well as the number of coincidence rotations of A4 and its dual.

Abstract:Let be a finite set of integer points in , which we assume has many symmetries, and let be a fixed point. We calculate the distances from P to the points in and compare the results. In some of the most common cases, we find that they lead to unexpected conclusions if the dimension is sufficiently large. For example, if is the set of vertices of a hypercube in and P is any point inside, then almost all triangles PAB with are almost equilateral. Or, if P is close to the center of the cube, then almost all triangles PAB with and B anywhere in the hypercube are almost right triangles.

Abstract:The Stanley lattice, Tamari lattice and Kreweras lattice are three remarkable orders defined on the set of Catalan objects of a given size. These lattices are ordered by inclusion: the Stanley lattice is an extension of the Tamari lattice which is an extension of the Kreweras lattice. The Stanley order can be defined on the set of Dyck paths of size $n$ as the relation of \emph{being above}. Hence, intervals in the Stanley lattice are pairs of non-crossing Dyck paths. In a former article, the second author defined a bijection $\Phi$ between pairs of non-crossing Dyck paths and the realizers of triangulations (or Schnyder woods). We give a simpler description of the bijection $\Phi$. Then, we study the restriction of $\Phi$ to Tamari's and Kreweras' intervals. We prove that $\Phi$ induces a bijection between Tamari intervals and minimal realizers. This gives a bijection between Tamari intervals and triangulations. We also prove that $\Phi$ induces a bijection between Kreweras intervals and the (unique) realizers of stack triangulations. Thus, $\Phi$ induces a bijection between Kreweras intervals and stack triangulations which are known to be in bijection with ternary trees.

Abstract:In 1885, Fedorov discovered that a convex domain can form a lattice tiling of the Euclidean plane if and only if it is a parallelogram or a centrally symmetric hexagon. his paper proves the following results. Except for parallelograms and centrally symmetric hexagons, there are no other convex domains that can form two-, three- or four-fold lattice tilings in the Euclidean plane. However, there are both octagons and decagons that can form five-fold lattice tilings. Whenever n >= 3, there are non-parallelohedral polytopes that can form five-fold lattice tilings in the n-dimensional Euclidean space.

Abstract:We completely characterize point--line configurations with $\Theta(n^{4/3})$ incidences when the point set is a section of the integer lattice. This can be seen as the main special case of the structural Szemerédi-Trotter problem. We also derive a partial characterization for several generalizations: (i) We rule out the concurrent lines case when the point set is a Cartesian product of an arithmetic progression and an arbitrary set. (ii) We study the case of a Cartesian product where one or both sets are generalized arithmetic progression. Our proofs rely on deriving properties of multiplicative energies.

Abstract:The first goal of this paper is to prove a sharp condition to guarantee of having a positive proportion of all congruence classes of triangles in given sets in ūĚĒĹ q 2 . More precisely, for A , B , C ‚äā ūĚĒĹ q 2 , if | A | ‚ĀĘ | B | ‚ĀĘ | C | 1 2 ‚Čę q 4 , then for any őĽ ‚ąą ūĚĒĹ q ‚ąĖ { 0 } , the number of congruence classes of triangles with vertices in A √ó B √ó C and one side-length őĽ is at least ‚Čę q 2 . In higher dimensions, we obtain similar results for k -simplex but under a slightly stronger condition. Compared to the well-known L 2 method in the literature, our approach offers better results in both conditions and conclusions. When A = B = C , the second goal of this paper is to give a new and unified proof of the best current results on the distribution of simplex due to Bennett, Hart, Iosevich, Pakianathan and Rudnev (2017) and McDonald (2020). The third goal of this paper is to study a Furstenberg-type problem associated to a set of rigid motions. The main ingredients in our proofs are incidence bounds between points and rigid motions. While the incidence bounds for large sets are due to the author and Semin Yoo (2023), the bound for small sets will be proved by using a point‚Äďline incidence bound in ūĚĒĹ q 3 due to Koll√°r (2015).

The star-square relation and the generalized star-triangle relation from 3d supersymmetric dualities I

Abstract:We study duality transformations of the star-square relation and the generalized star-triangle relation for Ising-like integrable lattice spin models. The integrable models are obtained via gauge/YBE correspondence which connects the supersymmetric gauge theories and lattice spin models of statistical mechanics. By the use of integral identities coming from the duality of three-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories, we construct hyperbolic, lens hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational solutions to the duality transformations. These duality transformations allow us to construct spin lattice models with four-spin (the star-square relation) and three-spin (the generalized star-triangle relation) interactions.

Abstract:Flips of diagonals in colored triangle-free triangulations of a convex polygon are interpreted as moves between two adjacent chambers in a certain graphic hyperplane arrangement. Properties of geodesics in the associated flip graph are deduced. In particular, it is shown that: (1) every diagonal is flipped exactly once in a geodesic between distinguished pairs of antipodes; (2) the number of geodesics between these antipodes is equal to twice the number of Young tableaux of a truncated shifted staircase shape.

Abstract:When does the double cover of the three-sphere branched along an alternating link bound a rational homology ball? Heegaard Floer homology generates a necessary condition for it to bound: the link's chessboard lattice must be cubiquitous, implying that its normalized determinant is less than or equal to one. We conjecture that the converse holds and prove it when the normalized determinant equals one. The proof involves flows on planar graphs and the Hajós-Minkowski theorem that a lattice tiling of Euclidean space by cubes contains a pair of cubes which touch along an entire facet. We extend our main results to the study of ribbon cobordism and ribbon concordance.

Infinite families of triangle presentations

Abstract:A triangle presentation is a combinatorial datum that encodes the action of a group on a $2$-dimensional triangle complex with prescribed links, which is simply transitive on the vertices. We provide the first infinite family of triangle presentations that give rise to lattices in exotic buildings of type $\widetilde{\text{A}_2}$ of arbitrarily large order. Our method also gives rise to infinite families of triangle presentations for other link types, such as opposition complexes in Desarguesian projective planes.

Bijections and congruences involving lattice paths and integer compositions

Abstract:We prove new bijections between different variants of Dyck paths and integer compositions, which give combinatorial explanations of their simple counting formula $4^{n-1}$. These give relations between different statistics, such as the number of crossings of the $x$-axis in classes of Dyck bridges or the distribution of peaks in classes of Dyck paths, and furthermore relate them with $k$- and $g$-compositions. These allow us to find and prove congruence results for Dyck paths and parity results for compositions. Our investigation uncovers unexpected connections to mock theta functions, Hardinian arrays, little Schr\"oder paths, Fibonacci numbers, and irreducible pairs of compositions, offering new insights into the structures of paths, partitions and compositions.
