Abstract:The Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China report proposes to improve the scientific level of party building comprehensively. The universities,as training base and research innovation heights,should promote the party's grassroots organization building and party members' construction in the spirit of reform and innovation to become the vanguard of promoting the scientific party construction. With the number of graduate student CPC members increasing each year,there are still some problems in the quality and the party organization building,which affects the college center work and connotation construction to some extent,especially in the science and engineering graduate school,such as the short cultivation time,the lack of ideological and political education and weak organization and coherence. Based on the characteristics of science and engineering graduate students,this paper proposes that the party branch can be based upon subjects,and the interaction between mentors and the branch secretary should be strengthened in order to explore the connotation construction of grassroots party branch and to improve the scientific development of the graduate student party branch.
