Abstract:We define the Hopf superalgebra U_T sl(1,1), which is a variant of the quantum supergroup U_q sl(1,1), and its tensor product representations V_1^{\otimes n} for n>0. We construct families of DG algebras A, B and R_n, and consider the DG categories DGP(A), DGP(B) and DGP(R_n), which are full DG subcategories of the categories of DG A-, B- and R_n-modules generated by certain distinguished projective modules. Their 0th homology categories HP(A), HP(B), and HP(R_n) are triangulated and give algebraic formulations of the contact categories of an annulus, a twice punctured disk, and an n times punctured disk. We categorify the multiplication and comultiplication on U_T sl(1,1) to a bifunctor HP(A) \times HP(A) --> HP(A) and a functor HP(A) --> HP(B), respectively. The U_T sl(1,1)-action on V_1^{\otimes n} is lifted to a bifunctor HP(A) \times HP(R_n) --> HP(R_n).

Abstract:Following the dimensional ladder, we develop a systematic categorification of the theory of quantum groups/bialgebras in the $A_\infty$ setting, and study their higher-representation theory. By following closely the generalized quantum double construction of Majid, we construct in particular the 2-quantum double $D(\mathcal{G})$ associated to a 2-bialgebra $\mathcal{G}$, and prove its duality and factorization properties. We also characterize a notion of (quasitriangular) 2-R-matrix $\mathcal{R}$ and identify the associated 2-Yang-Baxter equations, which can be seen as a categorification of the usual notion of $R$-matrix in an ordinary quantum group. The main result we prove in this paper is that the weak 2-representation 2-category $\operatorname{2Rep}^{\mathcal{T}}(\mathcal{G})$ of a quasitriangular 2-bialgebra $(\mathcal{G},\mathcal{T},\mathcal{R})$ -- when monoidally weakened by a Hochschild 3-cocycle $\mathcal{T}$ -- forms a braided monoidal 2-category.

Abstract:We categorify a coideal subalgebra of the quantum group of sl(2r+1) by introducing a 2-category analogous to the one defined by Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier, and show that self-dual indecomposable 1-morphisms categorify the canonical basis of this algebra. This allows us to define a categorical action of this coideal algebra on the categories of modules over cohomology rings of partial flag varieties and on the category O of type B/C.

Abstract:We categorify the highest weight integrable representations and their tensor products of a symmetric quantum Kac-Moody algebra. As byproducts, we obtain a geometric realization of Lusztig's canonical bases of these representations as well as a new positivity result. The main ingredient in the underlying geometric construction is a class of micro-local perverse sheaves on quiver varieties.

A braided monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category of Soergel bimodules

Abstract:The Hecke algebras for all symmetric groups taken together form a braided monoidal category that controls all quantum link invariants of type A and, by extension, the standard canon of topological quantum field theories in dimension 3 and 4. Here we provide the first categorification of this Hecke braided monoidal category, which takes the form of an $\mathbb{E}_2$-monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category whose hom-$(\infty,1)$-categories are $k$-linear, stable, idempotent-complete, and equipped with $\mathbb{Z}$-actions. This categorification is designed to control homotopy-coherent link homology theories and to-be-constructed topological quantum field theories in dimension 4 and 5.

The $q$-Schur category and polynomial tilting modules for quantum $GL_n$

Abstract:The $q$-Schur category is a $\mathbb{Z}[q,q^{-1}]$-linear monoidal category closely related to the $q$-Schur algebra. We explain how to construct it from coordinate algebras of quantum $GL_n$ for all $n \geq 0$. Then we use Donkin's work on Ringel duality for $q$-Schur algebras to make precise the relationship between the $q$-Schur category and an integral form for the $U_q\mathfrak{gl}_n$-web category of Cautis, Kamnitzer and Morrison. We construct explicit integral bases for morphism spaces in the latter category, and extend the Cautis-Kamnitzer-Morrison theorem to polynomial representations of quantum $GL_n$ at a root of unity over a field of any characteristic.

Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Abstract:We give the crystal structure of the Grothendieck group $G_0(R)$ of irreducible modules over the quiver Hecke algebra $R$ constructed in \cite{TW2023}. This leads to the categorification of the crystal $B(\infty)$ of the quantum Borcherds algebra $U_q(\mathscr g)$ and its irreducible highest weight crystal $B(\lambda)$ for arbitrary Borcherds-Cartan data. Additionally, we study the cyclotomic categorification of irreducible highest weight $U_q(\mathscr g)$-modules.

Abstract:We equip Ellis and Brundan's version of the odd categorified quantum group for sl(2) with a differential giving it the structure of a graded dg-2-supercategory. The presence of the super grading gives rise to two possible decategorifications of the associated dg-2-category. One version gives rise to a categorification of quantum sl(2) at a fourth root of unity, while the other version produces a subalgebra of quantum gl(1|1) defined over the integers. Both of these algebras appear in connection with quantum algebraic approaches to the Alexander polynomial.

Abstract:Motivated by recent advances in the categorification of quantum groups at prime roots of unity, we develop a theory of 2-representations for 2-categories enriched with a p-differential which satisfy finiteness conditions analogous to those of finitary or fiat 2-categories. We construct cell 2-representations in this setup, and consider 2-categories stemming from bimodules over a p-dg category in detail. This class is of particular importance in the categorification of quantum groups, which allows us to apply our results to cyclotomic quotients of the categorifications of small quantum group of type $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at prime roots of unity by Elias-Qi [Advances in Mathematics 288 (2016)]. Passing to stable 2-representations gives a way to construct triangulated 2-representations, but our main focus is on working with p-dg enriched 2-representations that should be seen as a p-dg enhancement of these triangulated ones.

Elliptic surfaces and toroidal superalgebras

Abstract:The equivariant cohomology of certain moduli spaces of sheaves on isotrivial elliptic surfaces are shown to admit representations of infinite dimensional Lie (super)algebras. The construction is based on work of Billig and Chen-Li-Tan on vertex representations of toroidal extended affine Lie algebras, and a geometric interpretation of bc-ghost systems on Hilbert schemes of points on ruled surfaces. The role of higher-nullity toroidal extended affine lie algebras are discussed in relation to tensor products of modules of a Yangian-like associative algebra. Applications to enumerative geometry are discussed in the introduction.

Abstract:We are concerned with the center (=quantum double) of tensor categories and prove generalizations of several results proven previously for quantum doubles of Hopf algebras. We consider F-linear tensor categories C with simple unit and finitely many isomorphism classes of simple objects. We assume that C is either a *-category (i.e. there is a positive *-operation on the morphisms) or semisimple and spherical over an algebraically closed field F. In the latter case we assume that dim C=sum_i d(X_i)^2 is non-zero, where the summation runs over the isomorphism classes of simple objects. We prove: (i) Z(C) is a semisimple spherical (or *-) category. (ii) Z(C) is weakly monoidally Morita equivalent (in the sense of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math.CT/0111204" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math.CT/0111204">math.CT/0111204</a>) to C X C^op. This implies dim Z(C)=(dim C)^2. (iii) We analyze the simple objects of Z(C) in terms of certain finite dimensional algebras, of which Ocneanu's tube algebra is the smallest. We prove the conjecture of Gelfand and Kazhdan according to which the number of simple objects of Z(C) coincides with the dimension of the state space H_{S^1\times S^1} of the torus in the triangulation TQFT built from C. (iv) We prove that Z(C) is modular and we compute the Gauss sums Delta_+/-(Z(C))=sum_i theta(X_i)^{+/- 1}d(X_i)^2=dim C. (v) Finally, if C is already modular then Z(C)\simeq C X C~, where C~ is the tensor category C with the braiding c~_{X,Y}=c_{Y,X}^{-1}.

Abstract:The purpose of this thesis is to present certain viewpoints on the geometric representation theory of Nakajima cyclic quiver varieties, in relation to the Maulik-Okounkov stable basis. Our main technical tool is the shuffle algebra, which arises as the K-theoretic Hall algebra of the double cyclic quiver. We prove the isomorphism between the shuffle algebra and the quantum toroidal algebra U_{q,t}(sl_n^^), and identify the quotients of Verma modules for the shuffle algebra with the K-theory groups of Nakajima cyclic quiver varieties, which were studied by Nakajima and Varagnolo-Vasserot. The shuffle algebra viewpoint allows us to construct the universal R-matrix of the quantum toroidal algebra U_{q,t}(sl_n^^), and to factor it in terms of pieces that arise from subalgebras isomorphic to quantum affine groups U_{q}(gl_m^), for various m. This factorization generalizes constructions of Khoroshkin-Tolstoy to the toroidal case, and matches the factorization that Maulik-Okounkov produce via the stable basis in the K-theory of Nakajima quiver varieties. We connect the two pictures by computing formulas for the root generators of U_{q,t}(sl_n^^) acting on the stable basis, which provide a wide extension of Murnaghan-Nakayama and Pieri type rules from combinatorics.

Abstract:We continue our study of the monoidal category $D(G)$. At the level of cohomology we transfer the duality functor to the derived category of Hecke dg-modules. In the process we develop a more general and streamlined approach to the anti-involution first defined by Ollivier and Schneider. We also verify that the tensor product on $D(G)$ corresponds to an operadic tensor product on the dg-side. This uses a result of Schnürer on dg-categories with a model structure.

Abstract:In this paper, we study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. Our aim is to construct knot homologies categorifying Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of knots for arbitrary representations, which will be done in a follow-up paper. We consider an algebraic construction of these categories, via an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the quiver Hecke algebra. One of our primary results is that these categories coincide when both are defined. We also investigate finer structure of these categories. Like many similar representation-theoretic categories, they are standardly stratified and satisfy a double centralizer property with respect to their self-dual modules. The standard modules of the stratification play an important role, as Vermas do in more classical representation theory, as test objects for functors. The existence of these representations has consequences for the structure of previously studied categorifications; it allows us to prove the non-degeneracy of Khovanov and Lauda's 2-category (that its Hom spaces have the expected dimension) in all symmetrizable types, and that the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras are symmetric Frobenius.

Deligne tensor products of categories of modules for vertex operator algebras

Abstract:We show that if $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{V}$ are locally finite abelian categories of modules for vertex operator algebras $U$ and $V$, respectively, then the Deligne tensor product of $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{V}$ can be realized as a certain category $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{U},\mathcal{V})$ of modules for the tensor product vertex operator algebra $U\otimes V$. We also show that if $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{V}$ admit the braided tensor category structure of Huang-Lepowsky-Zhang, then $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{U},\mathcal{V})$ does as well under mild additional conditions, and that this braided tensor structure is equivalent to the natural braided tensor structure on a Deligne tensor product category. These results hold in particular when $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{V}$ are the categories of $C_1$-cofinite $U$- and $V$-modules, if these categories are closed under contragredients, in which case we show that $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{U},\mathcal{V})$ is the category of $C_1$-cofinite $U\otimes V$-modules. If $U$ and $V$ are $\mathbb{N}$-graded and $C_2$-cofinite, then we may take $\mathcal{U}$ and $\mathcal{V}$ to be the categories of all grading-restricted generalized $U$- and $V$-modules, respectively. Thus as an application, if the tensor categories of all modules for two $C_2$-cofinite vertex operator algebras are rigid, then so is the tensor category of all modules for the tensor product vertex operator algebra. We use this to prove that the representation categories of the even subalgebras of the symplectic fermion vertex operator superalgebras are non-semisimple modular tensor categories.
