Abstract:It is explicitly advocated in the 20 th National Congress of the CPC that “we shall enhance the spiritual strength to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation”. The rejuvenation of the nation is not limited to economic development or institutional establishment, but it also includes self-confirmation of the nation, which is shown in the national spirit. Today’s competition of national power at a deep level lies in the battle of values. Guided by the scientific theory of Marxism, on which our firm belief is established, we lead the trend of the time with sinicized and modernized Marxism,build a socialist ideology with great cohesive and driving force,demonstrate the scientific and truthful advantage through the interpretational power of the theory,go beyond other intellectual trends of thought with its advanced values, and show its reality through the transformation of value into practice. With its pursuit of socialist values,Chinese modernization provides moral support to promoting the overall material progress and all-round development of individuals. Due to its significant differences from all available developing modes of civilization, Chinese modernization needs its own theoretical explanation system which should be better than all existing Western systems of knowledge. What’s more,it can provide solutions to Chinese issues and the issues of the time,and establish Chinese value,Chinese spirit,Chinese discourse and narrative system,providing spiritual power to the overall development of a modern socialist nation.

Abstract:According to Five Laws of Library Science, library is a growing organism. Its innovation, therefore, becomes a perennial topic of library. However, how to discern the true innovation is a problem to address. In this paper, the innovation is discussed in three aspects as follows:"gaining new knowledge by review" "keeping diversity and blending five colors in harmony" "creating somethingness from nothingness", which are interpreted by the author as innovative transfer, innovative integration, and innovative development respectively. The above three ideas constitute all meanings of innovation. Innovation is not only consciousness, but methods. Consciousness is interpreted as tao, and method be done as qi. Both of them are inseparable, generating innovation incessantly. Library is a symbol of civilization and humanity, with a close tie to which it is regarded as a divine place. Thus, how to cultivate the humanistic spirit of librarian is key to the development of library career. Above all, this paper gives us a further discussion about the meanings of humanistic spirit from following five perspectives, including orientation of civilization, orientation of goodness,orientation of morality, orientation of fulfilling obligations for human beings, orientation of sparing no effort to realize the following four aspirations, including the aspiration to ordain conscience for Heaven and Earth, to secure life and fortune for the people, to continue lost teachings of past sages, and to establish peace for all future generations. Accordingly, Nanjing Library carries on all works in the spirit of innovation and humanity.

Abstract:During the Yan’an period, the Chinese Communists cultivated and formed the Yan’an spirit. The main contents of the Yan’an spirit include the firm and correct political direction, the ideological line of emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts, the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly, and the entrepreneurial spirit of self-reliance and hard work. The Yan’an spirit has played an important role in various periods of China’s revolution, construction, and reform. In the current era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, it is essential to extract the educational value of the Yan’an spirit. By incorporating the Yan’an spirit into middle school education, students can adhere to the correct political orientation, adhere to their ideals and beliefs, adhere to mind emancipation and seeking truth from facts, adhere to the people-centered approach, and adhere to self-reliance. Hence, there is an urgent need for the great founding spirit of the Party to steer the youth. The great founding spirit of the Party holds profound scientific significance, serving as an enduring source of inspiration throughout the party’s century-long history of remarkable achievements. Consequently, it holds paramount importance in nurturing the ideals and beliefs of young individuals, enhancing their sense of historical responsibility, cultivating their determination to overcome challenges, and fostering patriotism. Guiding the youth towards an internal ideological transformation encompasses four key aspects: cognition, emotions, determination, and practical application.
