Abstract:Ring nematodes of the genus Criconemoides are a group of polyphagous, migratory root-ectoparasites of plants. In a nematological survey of Zhejiang Province, three new Criconemoides species were isolated from the rhizosphere of Citrus sp., Euonymus alatus and Pterocarya stenoptera trees. In the present study, the new species characterized using an integrative taxonomic approach and described as Criconemoides parainformis n. sp., C. geraerti n. sp. and C. rotundicaudatus n. sp. Three of the species shares truncated anteriorly flattened lip region comprised of two annuli, body annuli margin smooth with few anastomoses, (except C. rotundicaudatus n. sp. it has crenated annuli margins and numerous anastomoses), excretory pore 1–2 annuli posterior to pharyngeal bulb base, (except C. geraerti n. sp. it has excretory pore at the same level, or 1–2 annuli anterior to pharyngeal bulb base), vulva closed, anus hardly visible 1–3 annuli posterior to vulva. The new species can be distinguished based on their en face view pattern under scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the tail shapes. i.e. C. parainformis n. sp. has an ellipsoid oral disc, slightly fused pseudolips and tail ending in a bilobed terminus. C. geraerti n. sp. has a hexagonal oral disc, separated pseudolips, and a bluntly conoid tail. C. rotundicaudatus n. sp. has a rounded oral disc, well developed pseudolips, and a short broadly rounded tail. Besides detailed morphological studies using SEM, genomic and mitochondrial molecular data were obtained for the three described new species. In inferred phylogenies, these three species clustered with known Criconemoides species in 18S, 28S, ITS and coxI trees. Currently, only four known Criconemoides species occur in China and the discovery of the three new Criconemoides species in present study has increased our knowledge on the diversity of Criconemoides in China.

Abstract:The Darwin wasp genus Chirotica Förster, 1869 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae, Phygadeuontinae) is poorly represented in Brazilian entomological collections, with only three previously described species. Herein, four new species are described and illustrated: C. juquia sp. nov., C. maraca sp. nov., C. mariua sp. nov. and C. nigra sp. nov.. Four other species are recorded for the first time for Brazil: Chirotica brevilabris Townes, 1983, C. pothina (Marshall, 1982), C. bruchii (Brèthes, 1904) and C. stangei Townes, 1983. New morphological characters, comparative diagnoses, distribution maps and an illustrated key to the Brazilian species are also provided.

Abstract:Mexican species of nine genera of the Polysphincta genus-group (Ichneumonidae: Pimplinae) are reviewed: Acrotaphus Townes (four species), Dreisbachia Townes (one species), Eruga Townes (four species), Flacopimpla Gauld (three species), Hymenoepimecis Viereck (two species), Oxyrrhexis Förster (one species), Polysphincta Grav. (seven species), Schizopyga Grav. (one species) and Zatypota Förster (four species). Two new species, Polysphincta sirena Khalaim, sp. nov. and P. xena Khalaim, sp. nov., are described and Eruga yehi Gauld, 1991 is found to be a junior synonym of E. lineata Townes, 1960 (syn. nov.). Two species, Schizopyga anseli Fernández-Triana, 2007 from Cuba and S. moreirae Loffredo & Penteado-Dias, 2008 from Brazil, are transferred to the genus Dreisbachia (comb. nov.). Three genera, Hymenoepimecis, Oxyrrhexis and Schizopyga, and ten species, Acrotaphus wiltii (Cresson), Eruga rufa Townes, E. straussi Gauld, Flacopimpla nigriceps (Walsh), Hymenoepimecis robertsae Gauld, H. tedfordi Gauld, Oxyrrhexis carbonator (Grav.), Polysphincta albipes Cresson, P. gutfreundi Gauld, Schizopyga circulator pulchra Walley and Zatypota crassipes Townes, are recorded for the first time from Mexico. Moreover, Dreisbachia avivae Gauld, Polysphincta purcelli Gauld, Zatypota alborhombarta (Davis) and Z. petronae Gauld are newly recorded from Guatemala, and D. avivae from USA. The male of Flacopimpla kasparyani Khalaim & Ruíz-Cancino is recorded for the first time. Identification keys to the species occurring in Mexico are provided.

Abstract:The Brazilian species of the Darwin wasp genus Brachycyrtus Kriechbaumer, 1880 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Brachycyrtinae) are reviewed; a total of 12 species are recognized, of which two are described as new: Brachycyrtus amazonensis sp. n. and Brachycyrtus ocellicarinatus sp. n.. Furthermore, B. obelix Gauld & Ward, 2000 is registered for the first time in Brazil. Brachycyrtus convergens Cushman, 1936, B. cosmetus (Walkley, 1956), B. oculatus Cushman, 1936, B. pretiosus Cushman, 1936, B. veriatrix Gauld & Ward, 2000, B. walkleyae Gauld & Ward, 2000, and B. zani Gauld & Ward, 2000 have their distributional records expanded. Comparative diagnoses for Brazilian species, an illustrated identification key, and maps with geographical records for all species recorded in Brazil are presented.

Abstract:Thrypticus caeruleus Naglis Negrobov sp. nov. and T. kechevi Naglis Negrobov sp. nov. are newly described from Turkey. Thrypticus viridis Parent is redescribed and the hypopygium is figured in detail. A revised checklist and key to males of Palaearctic species of the genus Thrypticus Gerstäcker including 26 valid species are provided. Thrypticus paludicola Negrobov is restored from synonymy with T. intercedens Negrobov based on hypopygial differences. Thrypticus tonsus Negrobov is regarded as new synonym of T. subtilis Negrobov.

Abstract:Fortipalpa Kasparyan & Ruíz-Cancino, 2007 originally accommodates only its type species, F. yucatanica Kasparyan & Ruíz-Cancino, 2007. The genus can be distinguished from all other Neotropical Cryptini by having mandible with ventral tooth subequal to slightly longer than dorsal tooth; propodeum anteriorly smooth, posteriorly with transverse striation; T1 long and slender, without anterolateral tooth; and ovipositor moderately long and straight, with ventral valve without a lobe covering dorsal valve. The genus is revised, and the following new species are proposed, described, and illustrated: F. exelysae sp. nov., F. frida sp. nov., F. heredia sp. nov., F. panamensis sp. nov., F. pichincha sp. nov., F. sacha sp. nov., and F. shakira sp. nov. The male of F. exelysae sp. nov., the first for the genus, is also described and illustrated; other males remain unknown. The type species is redescribed and illustrated, including pictures of the paratype and a new record to Trinidad. Figures, distribution maps and a taxonomic key are provided for all valid species.

Abstract:The koinobiont endoparasitoid genus Triraphis Ruthe, 1855 (Rogadinae Foerster, 1863) is a group of braconid wasps that contains 74 species distributed along the Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Palearctic regions. We amplified a fragment of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) for 19 specimens of Triraphis from the Chamela Biological Station (CBS), a region mainly composed of tropical dry forest near the Pacific coast of Jalisco, Mexico. Based on genetic distances among specimens of Triraphis from the CBS and all COI sequences of BINs assigned to Triraphis and Rogas Nees, 1819 available in the BOLDSYSTEMS database, we identified three clusters in the CBS that correspond with T. bradzlotnicki Sharkey, 2021, T. davidwahli Sharkey, 2021 and T. defectus Valerio, 2015, which were previously described from Costa Rica. Based on morphology, we identified individuals of T. fusciceps Cresson, 1869 and provided COI sequences of this species for the first time. Four genetic clusters of Triraphis correspond to four new species that are described here: T. kardia sp. nov., T. ocellatus sp. nov., T. divergens sp. nov. and T. luzabrilae sp. nov. Since T. bradzlotnicki and T. davidwahli were exclusively described with molecular data (COI), we morphologically described them based on Mexican specimens.

Abstract:A taxonomic revision of the Palaearctic species of the ant genus Tapinoma Emery 1861 is provided. Due to the extreme rarity of discernable characters, the female castes of 64% of the species are not separable by primary visual perception of an expert and are thus truly cryptic. The main working rationale of the revision is Numeric Morphology-Based Alpha-Taxonomy (NUMOBAT) with formation of species hypotheses largely based on exploratory data analyses and checking these hypotheses by discriminant analysis. NUMOBAT data of all considered species comprise 648 worker samples with 2014 individuals and 30,000 primary data. Species are depicted by z-stack imaging in three standard visual positions. Numeric data on 15 phenotypical characters are presented in comparative tables and supplementary verbal descriptions are given. Analysis of nuclear DNA was based on evaluation of 15 microsatellite loci in 274 nest samples. The NUMOBAT-based classification of eight species of the Tapinoma nigerrimum and T. simrothi group which are inseparable by subjective visual inspection was confirmed by nuclear DNA data in 98.3% of 169 samples where both morphological and nuDNA data were available. The three cases of disagreement between NUMOBAT and nuDNA classification were discussed. Excluding Nomina Nuda and unavailable names, the revision recognized 34 available names which divide into 21 valid species, 11 junior synonyms and two names placed under Incertae Sedis. Four species are described as new: Tapinoma hispanicum n. sp., T. insularis n. sp., T. dabashanica n. sp. and T. sichuense n. sp. The following synonymies were stated: T. collina Foerster 1850, T. erraticum platyops Emery 1925 and T. erraticum bononiensis Emery 1925 as synonyms of T. erraticum (Latreille 1798); T. tauridis Emery 1925 and T. breve Emery 1925 as synonyms of T. glabrella (Nylander 1849) that is erected to species level; T. minor Bernard 1945 as synonym of T. simrothi Krausse-Heldrungen 1911; T. simrothi azerbaidzhanica Karavajev 1932 as synonym of Tapinoma karavaievi Emery 1925 that is erected here to species level; T. erraticum ambiguum Emery 1925 as synonym of T. madeirense Forel 1895 and T. emeryanum Kuznetzov-Ugamsky 1927 as synonym of T. sinense Emery 1925. Despite an insufficient separation of the female castes of Tapinoma madeirense and T. subboreale Seifert 2011 by NUMOBAT characters and detection of a hybrid zone in southern France, the heterospecific status of the two taxa was maintained based on sufficient differences in male genitalia and of nuclear DNA over a larger geographic scale. Formica caerulescens Losana 1834 is removed from genus Tapinoma and recognized as member of the subfamily Formicinae.

Abstract:Four new species of Nemeritis Holmgren are described, N. ananenkoi sp. nov. from the Balkan Peninsula, N. baranovi sp. nov. from Mongolia, N. bespalovi sp. nov. from Turkey, and N. legasovi sp. nov. from Mongolia. Additionally, the first reports of N. aequalis Horstmann from Republic of North Macedonia, N. caudata (Szépligeti) from Greece, N. lativentris Thomson from Hungary, N. macrocentra (Gravenhorst) from Mongolia and Serbia, N. minor (Szépligeti) from Republic of North Macedonia, N. pygmaea Horstmann from Hungary, N. scaposa Horstmann from Mongolia, N. silvicola Horstmann, N. specularis Horstmann and N. stenura Thomson from Hungary are given. Among them two species, N. macrocentra (Gravenhorst) and N. scaposa Horstmann, are new for the Eastern Palaearctic region.

Abstract:Two new species of aulacid wasps, Pristaulacus iuliae Turrisi & Nobile sp. nov. from South India (Karnataka) and Pristaulacus ninae sp. nov. from Peninsular Malaysia (Pahang), are described, figured and compared with most related species. Based on the present addition, the Indomalayan area currently includes 27 species of Pristaulacus Kieffer out of 61 known from the whole Oriental Region, which is however a largely underestimated number. An identification key to species and an updated checklist of Pristaulacus occurring in the Indomalayan area are provided.
