Abstract:Given a polarized Kähler manifold (X,L). The space ℋ of Kähler metrics in $$ 2_\Pi {c_1}{(L)}$$ is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian symmetric space. As a metric space, it has non-positive curvature. There is associated to ℋ a sequence of finite-dimensional symmetric spaces $$ \mathcal{B}_{k}{({k}\, \epsilon \,\mathbb{N})} $$ of non-compact Type. We prove that ℋ is the limit of $$ \mathcal{B}_{k} $$ as metric spaces in certain sense. As applications, this provides more geometric proofs of certain known geometric properties of the space ℋ.
Nguyen's approach to Sobolev spaces in metric measure spaces with unique tangents

Abstract:We extend Nguyen's characterization of Sobolev spaces $W^{1,p}$ to the setting of PI-metric measure spaces such that at a.e. point the tangent space (in the Gromov-Hausdorff sense) is unique and Euclidean with a fixed dimension. We also generalize [CLL14] to PI-metric measure spaces such that at a.e. point the tangent space is unique and equal to the Heisenberg group with a fixed homogeneous dimension. The approach is easier and completely different from the one in [Ngu06, Ngu08].

Abstract:In these notes we generalize the notion of a (pseudo) metric measuring the distance of two points, to a (pseudo) n -metric which assigns a value to a tuple of points. Some elementary properties of pseudo n -metrics are provided and their construction via exterior products is investigated. We discuss some examples from the geometry of Euclidean vector spaces leading to pseudo n -metrics on the unit sphere, on the Stiefel manifold, and on the Grassmann manifold. Further, we construct a pseudo n -metric on hypergraphs and discuss the problem of generalizing the Hausdorff metric for closed sets to a pseudo n -metric.

Abstract:A general fixed point theorem for isometries in terms of metric functionals is proved under the assumption of the existence of a conical bicombing. It is new for isometries of convex sets of Banach spaces as well as for non-locally compact CAT(0)-spaces and injective spaces. Examples of actions on non-proper CAT(0)-spaces come from the study of diffeomorphism groups, birational transformations, and compact Kähler manifolds. A special case of the fixed point theorem provides a novel mean ergodic theorem that in the Hilbert space case implies von Neumann's theorem. The theorem accommodates classically fixed-point-free isometric maps such as those of Kakutani, Edelstein, Alspach and Prus. Moreover, from the main theorem together with some geometric arguments of independent interest, one can deduce that every bounded invertible operator of a Hilbert space admits a nontrivial invariant metric functional on the space of positive operators. This is a result in the direction of the invariant subspace problem although its full meaning is dependent on a future determination of such metric functionals.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate some topological properties of partial metric spaces (in short PMS). We give some relationship between metric-like PMS, sequentially isosceles PMS and sequentially equilateral PMS. We also prove a type of Urysohn’s lemma for metric-like PMS. By applying the construction of Hartman–Mycielski, we show that every bounded PMS can be isometrically embedded into a pathwise connected and locally pathwise connected PMS. In the end, we show that a partial metric space is compact iff it is totally bounded and complete.

Abstract:A [Formula: see text]-metric on an n-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold naturally induces a distance function, provided p is sufficiently close to n. If a sequence of metrics [Formula: see text] converges in [Formula: see text] to a limit metric [Formula: see text], then the corresponding distance functions [Formula: see text] subconverge to a limit distance function d, which satisfies [Formula: see text]. As an application, we show that the above convergence result applies to a sequence of conformal metrics with [Formula: see text]-bounded scalar curvatures, under certain geometric assumptions. In particular, in this special setting, the limit distance function d actually coincides with [Formula: see text].

Abstract:In this note, we consider two Riemannian metrics on a moduli space of metric graphs. Each of them could be thought of as an analogue of the Weil–Petersson metric on the moduli space of metric graphs. We discuss and compare geometric features of these two metrics with the “classic” Weil–Petersson metric in Teichmüller theory. This paper is motivated by Pollicott and Sharp’s work (Pollicott and Sharp in Geom Dedic 172(1):229–244, 2014). Moreover, we fix some errors in Pollicott and Sharp (2014).

Abstract:In 2016, Dovgoshey et al. introduced a metric on proper subdomains G of Euclidean spaces and studied its connection with several hyperbolic type metrics. Abstract:In this paper, an approach for generalizing the Gromov-Hausdorff metric is presented, which applies to metric spaces equipped with some additional structure. A special case is the Gromov-Hausdorff-Prokhorov metric between measured metric spaces. This abstract framework unifies several existing Gromov-Hausdorff-type metrics for metric spaces equipped with a measure, a point, a closed subset, a curve, a tuple of such structures, etc. Along with reviewing these special cases in the literature, several new examples are also presented. Two frameworks are provided, one for compact metric spaces and the other for boundedly-compact pointed metric spaces. In both cases, a Gromov-Hausdorff-type metric is defined and its topological properties are studied. In particular, completeness and separability is proved under some conditions. This enables one to study random metric spaces equipped with additional structures, which is the main motivation of this work.

Abstract:The manuscript introduces the concept of a double-composed metric-like space, which is an extension of the notion of a double-composed metric space. In this new space, the self-distance is not necessarily zero, but if the distance metric equals zero, it must be for identical points of distance. Furthermore, this paper presents several results related to this novel concept in the literature, with a particular focus on Hardy–Rogers type contractions. It establishes fixed point theorems accompanied by some illustrative examples that elucidate the findings. Finally, this research provides an application to nonlinear integral equation to substantiate our theorems.

Abstract:The space of full-ranked one-forms on a smooth, orientable, compact manifold (possibly with boundary) is metrically incomplete with respect to the induced geodesic distance of the generalized Ebin metric. We show a distance equality between the induced geodesic distances of the generalized Ebin metric on the space of full-ranked one-forms and the corresponding Riemannian metric defined on each fiber. Using this result we immediately have a concrete description of the metric completion of the space of full-ranked one-forms. Additionally, we study the relationship between the space of full-ranked one-forms and the space of all Riemannian metrics, leading to quotient structures for the space of Riemannian metrics and its completion.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new class of metric spaces called the Menger probabilistic bipolar metric space and define some other notions related to this space. Moreover, we prove some uniqueness fixed point theorems for two cases including the covariant and contravariant maps. These fixed point theorems are new versions of the Banach contraction principle, Kannan theorem, and Reich-type theorem in the context of the Menger probabilistic bipolar metric space. Throughout the paper, we provide some examples to understand the definitions in the better manner. Finally, two applications are given for proving the uniqueness result in the form of an integral equation and a fractional boundary value problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish some connections between partial metric spaces and domain theory, and give a characterization of stable partially metrizable d-spaces. First, the concept of S-partial metrics on posets is introduced. Then it is demonstrated that the open ball topology is coarser than the Scott topology in an S-partial metric space, and that the partially metrizable d -space is exactly the DS-partial metric space. In addition, some conditions are provided to ensure that the open-ball topology and the Scott topology coincide in an S-partial metric space. Moreover, we prove that, for an S-partial metric space (X,≤,p) , (X,Op(X)) is sober iff the set of all limit points of every self-convergent sequence is directed. Finally, we propose the notion of DS-valuation space and obtain the result that there is a bijection between stable DS-partial metric spaces and DS-valuation spaces, thereby giving the characterization of stable partially metrizable d-spaces.
