Abstract:In this work, we analyze Gabor frames for the Weyl--Heisenberg group and wavelet frames for the extended affine group. Firstly, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of nonstationary frames of translates. Using these conditions, we give the existence of Gabor frames from the Weyl--Heisenberg group and wavelet frames for the extended affine group. We present a representation of functions in the closure of the linear span of a Gabor frame sequence in terms of the Fourier transform of window functions. We show that the canonical dual of frames of translates has the same structure. An approximation of inverse of the frame operator of nonstationary frames of translates is presented. It is shown that a nonstationary frame of translates is a Riesz basis if it is linearly independent and satisfies approximation of the inverse frame operator. Finally, we give equivalent conditions for a nonstationary sequence of translates to be linearly independent.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a locally compact group with left regular representation $\lambda_{G}.$ We say that $G$ admits a frame of translates if there exist a countable set $\Gamma\subset G$ and $\varphi\in L^{2}(G)$ such that $(\lambda_{G}(x) \varphi)_{x \in\Gamma}$ is a frame for $L^{2}(G).$ The present work aims to characterize locally compact groups having frames of translates, and to this end, we derive necessary and/or sufficient conditions for the existence of such frames. Additionally, we exhibit surprisingly large classes of Lie groups admitting frames of translates.

Abstract:Frames of translates of f in L^2(G) are characterized in terms of the zero-set of the so-called spectral symbol of f in the setting of a locally compact abelian group G having a compact open subgroup H. We refer to such a G as a number theoretic group. This characterization was first proved in 1992 by Shidong Li and one of the authors for L^2(R^d) with the same formal statement of the characterization. For number theoretic groups, and these include local fields, the strategy of proof is necessarily entirely different; and it requires a new notion of translation that reduces to the usual definition in R^d.

Group-Frames for Banach Spaces

Abstract:In the literature, frames generated by unitary representations of groups (known as group-frames) are studied only for Hilbert spaces. We make first study of frames for Banach spaces generated by isometric invertible representations of discrete groups on Banach spaces. These frames are characterized using left regular, right regular, Gram-matrices and group-matrices on classical sequence spaces. A sufficiently large collection of functional-vector pairs using the double commutant of the representation is identified which generate group-frames for Banach spaces. Subsequently, we study Schauder frames generated by time-frequency shift operators on finite dimensional Banach spaces. We derive Moyal formula, fundamental identity of Gabor analysis, Wexler-Raz criterion and Ron-Shen duality in functional form.

Sums of Frames from the Weyl--Heisenberg Group and Applications to Frame Algorithm

Abstract:The relationship between the frame bounds of frames (Gabor) for the space $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ with several generators from the Weyl-Heisenberg group and the scalars linked to the sum of frames is examined in this paper. We give sufficient conditions for the finite sum of frames of the space $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ from the Weyl-Heisenberg group, with explicit frame bounds, in terms of frame bounds and scalars involved in the finite sum of frames, to be a frame for $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. It is shown that if a series of square roots of upper frame bounds of countably infinite frames from the Weyl-Heisenberg group is convergent and some lower frame bound majorizes the sum of all other frame bounds, then the infinite sum of frames for $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ space turns out to be a frame for the space $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. We show that the sum of frames from the Weyl-Heisenberg group and its dual frame always constitutes a frame. We provide sufficient conditions for the sum of images of frames under bounded linear operators acting on $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ in terms of lower bounds of their Hilbert adjoint operator to be a frame. The finite sum of frames where frames are perturbed by bounded sequences of scalars is also discussed. As an application of the results, we show that the frame bounds of sums of frames can increase the rate of approximation in the frame algorithm. Our results are true for all types of frames.

Abstract:In this article, we discuss subspace duals of a frame of translates by an action of a closed abelian subgroup $\Gamma$ of a locally compact group $\mathscr G.$ These subspace duals are not required to lie in the space generated by the frame. We characterise translation-generated subspace duals of a frame/Riesz basis involving the Zak transform for the pair $(\mathscr G, \Gamma) .$ We continue our discussion on the orthogonality of two translation-generated Bessel pairs using the Zak transform, which allows us to explore the dual of super-frames. As an example, we extend our findings to splines, Gabor systems, $p$-adic fields $\mathbb Q p,$ locally compact abelian groups using the fiberization map.

Abstract:Given an arbitrary sequence of elements $\xi=\{\xi_n\}_{n\in \mathbb{N}}$ of a Hilbert space $(\mathcal{H},\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)$, the operator $T_\xi$ is defined as the operator associated to the sesquilinear form $ \Omega_\xi(f,g)=\sum_{n\in \mathbb{N}} \langle f,\xi_n\rangle\langle\xi_n,g\rangle, $ for $f,g\in \{h\in \mathcal{H}: \sum_{n\in \mathbb{N}}|\langle h,\xi_n\rangle|^2<\infty\}$. This operator is in general different from the classical frame operator but possesses some remarkable properties. For instance, $T_\xi$ is always self-adjoint in regards to a particular space, unconditionally defined and, when $\xi$ is a lower semi-frame, $T_\xi$ gives a simple expression of a dual of $\xi$. The operator $T_\xi$ and lower semi-frames are studied in the context of sequences of integer translates of a function of $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. In particular, an explicit expression of $T_\xi$ is given in this context and a characterization of sequences of integer translates which are lower semi-frames is proved.

Abstract:In this paper, we present some new characterizations of g-frames for a bounded operator. We discuss the g-frame for an operator K which has closed range and give a necessary and sufficient conditions for a family of bounded operators to be a K -g-frame. We also give a characterization of the dual for a K -g-frame. Moreover, We use quotient operators to characterize K -g-frames and find that the results on K -g-frames can be proved by theory of quotient operators.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we investigate the properties of systems formed by translations of an operator in the Schatten $p$-classes $\mathcal{T}^p$. We establish the existence of Schauder frames of integer translates in $\mathcal{T}^p$ for $p>2$. Later, we provide an instance of a uniformly discrete $\Lambda \subset \mathbb{R}^{2d}$ such that there exists an operator whose $\Lambda$-translates are complete in $\mathcal{T}^p$ for all $p>1$.

Abstract:In last decades, the operator theory of Krein spaces, Krein space approaches, and various generalizations of frames have interested many mathematicians due to their potential applications in mathematics and engineering. This paper addresses the frame theory for Krein spaces. We present some properties of J -orthonormal bases, Parseval frames and frames for Krein spaces, and a parametric expression of all duals of an arbitrarily given frame in Krein spaces. This study shows that the frame theory for Krein spaces is not a direct generalization of the frame theory for Hilbert spaces.

Abstract:Two frames { ϕ i } i ∈ I and { ψ i } i ∈ I for a separable Hilbert space H are woven if there are positive constants A ≤ B such that for every subset σ ⊂ I , the family { ϕ i } i ∈ σ ∪ { ψ i } i ∈ σ c is a frame for H with frame bounds A , B . Bemrose et al. introduced weaving frames in separable Hilbert spaces and observed that weaving frames have potential applications in signal processing. Motivated by this, and the recent work of Balan in the direction of application of vector-valued frames (or superframes) in signal processing, we study vector-valued weaving frames. In this paper, first we give some fundamental properties of vector-valued weaving frames. It is shown that if a family of vector-valued frames is woven, then the corresponding family of frames for atomic spaces is woven, but the converse is not true. We present a technique for the construction of vector-valued woven frames from given woven frames for atomic spaces . Necessary and sufficient conditions for vector-valued weaving Riesz sequences are given. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the results.

Since then, frame theory has become a fundamental and widely applicable tool across diverse branches of Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering Sciences. Driven by the extensive applications of model space frames in dynamical sampling, the study delves into an exploration of frames and their properties within the model space and RKHS. Moreover, the study systematically investigates the intrinsic features of model space frames and its reproducing counterparts, thoroughly examining and analyzing various characterizations of the same. Abstract:A continuous g-frame is a generalization of g-frames and continuous frames, but they behave much differently from g-frames due to the underlying characteristic of measure spaces. Now, continuous g-frames have been extensively studied, while continuous g-sequences such as continuous g-frame sequence, g-Riesz sequences, and continuous g-orthonormal systems have not. This paper addresses continuous g-sequences. It is a continuation of Zhang and Li, in Numer. Func. Anal. Opt., 40 (2019), 1268-1290, where they dealt with g-sequences. In terms of synthesis and Gram operator methods, we in this paper characterize continuous g-Bessel, g-frame, and g-Riesz sequences, respectively, and obtain the Pythagorean theorem for continuous g-orthonormal systems. It is worth that our results are similar to the case of g-ones, but their proofs are nontrivial. It is because the definition of continuous g-sequences is different from that of g-sequences due to it involving general measure space.
