Abstract:We consider a uniqueness problem concerning the Fourier coefficients of normalized Cauchy transforms. These problems inherently involve proving a simultaneous approximation phenomenon and establishing the existence of cyclic inner functions in certain sequence spaces. Our results have several applications in different directions. First, we offer a new non-probabilistic proof of a classic theorem by Kahane and Katzenelson on simultaneous approximation. Secondly, we demonstrate the absence of uniform admissible majorants of Fourier coefficients in de Branges-Rovnyak spaces.

Abstract:Criteria are given for a mapping to have bounded distortion in terms of an integral estimate of the multiplicity function without any a priori assumption on the differential properties of the mapping. The result is most lucid and final in a sense for complex functions f :Δ⊂ C → C of one complex variable. Generalizations to multidimensional Beltrami systems are suggested.
Cauchy transforms and Szegő projections in dual Hardy spaces: inequalities and Möbius invariance

Abstract:Dual pairs of interior and exterior Hardy spaces associated to a simple closed Lipschitz planar curve are considered, leading to a Möbius invariant function bounding the norm of the Cauchy transform $\bf{C}$ from below. This function is shown to satisfy strong rigidity properties and is closely connected via the Berezin transform to the square of the Kerzman-Stein operator. Explicit example calculations are presented. For ellipses, a new asymptotically sharp lower bound on the norm of $\bf{C}$ is produced.

Abstract:Let $-\im\Lie_\T$ (essentially Lie derivative with respect to $\T$, a smooth nowhere zero real vector field) and $P$ be commuting differential operators, respectively of orders 1 and $m\geq 1$, the latter formally normal, both acting on sections of a vector bundle over a closed manifold. It is shown that if $P+(-i\Lie_\T)^m$ is elliptic then the restriction of $-\im\Lie_\T$ to $\Dom\subset \ker P\subset L^2$ yields a selfadjoint operator $-\im\Lie_\T|_\Dom:\Dom\subset\ker P\to \ker P$ with compact resolvent ($\Dom$ is specified carefully). It is also shown that, in the presence of an additional hypothesis on microlocal hypoellipticity of $P$, $-\im\Lie_\T|_\Dom$ is semi-bounded. These results are applied to CR manifolds on which $\T$ acts as an infinitesimal CR transformation which are then shown to yield versions of Kodaira's vanishing theorem.

Abstract:In this note, we extend the well-known theorems of M. Riesz and Zygmund on conjugate functions as follows. Let $\Omega$ be a domain in $\mathbb C^n$. Suppose that $f=u+iv\in \mathcal O(\Omega)$ satisfies $v(z_0)=0$ for some $z_0\in \Omega$. Then $ \|f\|_{p,z_0} \le C_p\, \|u\|_{p,z_0}$ for $1<p<\infty$, where $C_p$ is a constant depending only on $p$ and $\|u\|_{p,z_0}^p$ is defined to be the value at $z_0$ of the least harmonic majorant of $|u|^p$. Moreover, if $|u|\le 1$, then for any $\alpha>1$, there exists $C_\alpha>0$ such that $ \int_{\partial \Omega_t} \frac{\exp\left(\frac{\pi}2 |f| \right)}{(1+|f|)^\alpha}\, d\omega_{z_0,t} \le C_\alpha$ for any exhaustion $\{\Omega_t\}$ of $\Omega$ with $\Omega_t\ni z_0$, where $d \omega_{z_0,t}$ is the harmonic measure of $\Omega_t$ relative to $z_0$. Analogous results for Poletsky-Stessin-Hardy spaces on hyperconvex domains are given.

Low-action holomorphic curves and invariant sets

Abstract:We prove a compactness theorem for sequences of low-action punctured holomorphic curves of controlled topology, in any dimension, without imposing the typical assumption of uniformly bounded Hofer energy. In the limit, we extract a family of closed Reeb-invariant subsets. Then, we prove new structural results for the U-map in ECH and PFH, implying that such sequences exist in abundance in low-dimensional symplectic dynamics. We obtain applications to symplectic dynamics and the geometry of surfaces. First, we prove generalizations to higher genus surfaces and three-manifolds of the celebrated Le Calvez-Yoccoz theorem. Second, we show that for any closed Riemannian or Finsler surface a dense set of points have geodesics passing through them that visit different sections of the surface. Third, we prove a version of Ginzburg-Gürel's "crossing energy bound" for punctured holomorphic curves, of arbitrary topology, in symplectizations of any dimension.

Abstract:Cartan's uniqueness theorem does not hold in general for CR mappings, but it does hold under certain conditions guaranteeing extendibility of CR functions to a fixed neighborhood. These conditions can be defined naturally for a wide class of sets such as local real-analytic subvarieties or subanalytic sets, not just submanifolds. Suppose that $V$ is a locally connected and locally closed subset of ${\mathbb{C}}^n$ such that the hull constructed by contracting analytic discs close to arbitrarily small neighborhoods of a point always contains the point in the interior. Then restrictions of holomorphic functions uniquely extend to a fixed neighborhood of the point. Using this extension, we obtain a version of Cartan's uniqueness theorem for such sets. When $V$ is a real-analytic subvariety, we can generalize the concept of infinitesimal CR automorphism and also prove an analogue of the theorem. As an application of these two results we show that, for circular subvarieties, the only automorphisms, CR or infinitesimal, are linear. Abstract:We prove an extrapolation of compactness theorem for operators on Banach function spaces satisfying certain convexity and concavity conditions. In particular, we show that the boundedness of an operator T in the weighted Lebesgue scale and the compactness of T in the unweighted Lebesgue scale yields compactness of T on a very general class of Banach function spaces. As our main new tool, we prove various characterizations of the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on such spaces and their associate spaces, using a novel sparse self-improvement technique. We apply our main results to prove compactness of the commutators of singular integral operators and pointwise multiplication by functions of vanishing mean oscillation on, for example, weighted variable Lebesgue spaces.

The Julia-Wolff-Carathéodory theorem in convex finite type domains

Abstract:Rudin's version of the classical Julia-Wolff-Carathéodory theorem is a cornerstone of holomorphic function theory in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^d$. In this paper we obtain a complete generalization of Rudin's theorem for a holomorphic map $f\colon D\to D'$ between convex domains of finite type. In particular, given a point $\xi\in \partial D$ with finite dilation we show that the $K$-limit of $f$ at $\xi$ exists and is a point $\eta\in \partial D'$, and we obtain asymptotic estimates for all entries of the Jacobian matrix of the differential $df_z$ in terms of the multitypes at the points $\xi$ and at $\eta$. We introduce a generalization of Bracci-Patrizio-Trapani's pluricomplex Poisson kernel which, together with the dilation at $\xi$, gives a formula for the restricted $K$-limit of the normal component of the normal derivative $\langle df_z(n_\xi),n_\eta\rangle$. Our principal tools are methods from Gromov hyperbolicity theory, a scaling in the normal direction, and the strong asymptoticity of complex geodesics. To obtain our main result we prove a conjecture by Abate on the Kobayashi type of a vector $v$, proving that it is equal to the reciprocal of the line type of $v$, and we give new extrinsic characterizations of both $K$-convergence and restricted convergence to a point $\xi\in \partial D$ in terms of the multitype at $\xi$.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a globally hyperbolic manifold with complete spacelike Cauchy hypersurface $\Sigma$. We prove well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the Dirac operator on globally hyperbolic manifolds with complete Cauchy hypersurfaces. This result is needed as preparation in showing a Fredholmness result in the manner, provided by Bär and Strohmaier, for certain non-compact Cauchy hypersurfaces in future work. The results already have been published for a simpler setting in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2107.08532" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2107.08532">arXiv:2107.08532</a>. This version is only focused on the Cauchy problem for a slightly modified setting.

Abstract:Let ${\mathscr{L}}=-\text{div}A\nabla$ be a uniformly elliptic operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge 2$. Let $\Omega$ be an exterior Lipschitz domain, and let ${\mathscr{L}}_D$ and ${\mathscr{L}}_N$ be the operator ${\mathscr{L}}$ on $\Omega$ subject to the Dirichlet and Neumann boundary values, respectively. We establish the boundedness of the Riesz transforms $\nabla{\mathscr{L}}_D^{-1/2}$, $\nabla {\mathscr{L}}_N^{-1/2}$ in $L^p$ spaces. As a byproduct, we show the reverse inequality $\|{\mathscr{L}}_D^{1/2}f\|_{L^p(\Omega)}\le C\|\nabla f\|_{L^p(\Omega)}$ holds for any $1<p<\infty$. The proof can be generalized to show the boundedness of the Riesz transforms, for operators with VMO coefficients on exterior Lipschitz or $C^1$ domains. The estimates can be also applied to the inhomogeneous Dirichlet and Neumann problems. These results are new even for the Dirichlet and Neumann of the Laplacian operator on the exterior Lipschitz and $C^1$ domains.

Kazdan-Warner Problem on Compact Riemann Surfaces with Smooth Boundary

Abstract:In this article, we show that (i) any smooth function on compact Riemann surface with non-empty smooth boundary $ (M, \partial M, g) $ can be realized as a Gaussian curvature function; (ii) any smooth function on $ \partial M $ can be realized as a geodesic curvature function for some metric $ \tilde{g} \in [g] $. The essential steps are the existence results of Brezis-Merle type equations $ -\Delta_{g} u + Au = K e^{2u} \; {\rm in} \; M $ and $ \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu} + \kappa u = \sigma e^{u} \; {\rm on} \; \partial M $ with given functions $ K, \sigma $ and some constants $ A, \kappa $. In addition, we rely on the extension of the uniformization theorem given by Osgood, Phillips and Sarnak.

Abstract:Hille in 1959 gave a stronger form for the classical implicit function theorem of Cauchy for equations of the type $y = \psi(x,y)$, $x,y$ real or complex, $\psi$ analytic with a condition which determines a radius of convergence of the resulting series solution. Based on a geometrical interpretation of Hille's condition, this report generalizes his result to the case when x and y are elements of lattice-normed linear spaces in the sense of Kantorovich. This formulation includes the special cases when x and y belong to Banach or Riesz spaces.

Abstract:We study two conditional expectations: the expected density of critical points of Gaussian random holomorphic sections of powers of a positive holomorphic line bundle over Riemann surfaces given that the random sections vanish at a point and the expected density of zeros given that the random sections has a fixed critical point. The main result is that these two rescaling conditional expectations have universal limits as the power of the line bundle tends to infinity. We will see that the short distance behavior between critical points and the conditioning zero is neutral while there is a repulsion between zeros and the conditioning critical point. But the long distance behaviors are the same.
